mega thread How are you feeling?
Raskolnikov replied to Rift enchanted's topic in General Discussion
I plan on getting Linux Mint on a new laptop myself - absolutely tired of Windows, their last good OS was 7 and since then it's been dead to me And management always does what management does best - mismanagement... I'm feeling pretty good, new carpet has arrived and it's livened up the place MAJORLY - audio panels arriving tomorrow :D! -

Unimpressed at not being let inside for my shift 15 mins later -_- 'yOu mUsT rInG tHe NuMbEr' okay, what if I've rang it 10 times by now with no answer. What then. -
Wish they would actually let us in when it's time, you can't be treating staff like that waiting outside for ages just bc you fancy not having anyone at the gates -_-

Do You Prefer Being Alone or Being Around Other People?
Raskolnikov replied to Lucky Bolt's topic in General Discussion
I prefer neither and therein lies the problem, lol -
Team America World Police: The MCU | Copaganda Episode 6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpGqK9y__qg Someone mentioned it and I'd not seen any deepdives into the kind of funding Marvel gets yet. :p

Yes and no, recently.

Would you get a tattoo based on a franchise?
Raskolnikov replied to Gaines's topic in Media Discussion
It's a cool idea and I usually like other people's tattoos but I simply can't commit to designs for a permanent one even ignoring the pain aspect lol. And I'd never get a tattoo of any media or anything similar. So I've never seriously considered it :p -
Wonder what's gonna happen with my sister and her mum... her mum's emotionally abusive and sounds like they had a moment where my sister's had it, she'd already been slowly moving stuff over at her boyfriend's house but I think she's gonna move out and never go back at all at this rate lol. I fully support her with it but I'm also worried at how her mum is gonna take it because she's both a very physically *and* emotionally frail old woman by now so I dunno how she will react to the shock when she realises... I talk to her mum through IMs but I have always tried to keep an emotional distance and only respond relatively infrequently in case she tries to use me too and I expect weird unpredictable things in the coming months from her :|

Blue pill vs red pill - The Matrix
Raskolnikov replied to Dawnshine Wonder's topic in General Discussion
Isn't this just the plot of SOMA? :3 Does the 'rule of law' include a recreation of the current penal system then? Because I find the prison system inherently cruel and unethical and if the simulation just recreates our current systems legally then I'm taking the blue pill because either way with abuse built into the system we'll end up exactly where we started like the 'real' world soon enough anyway and it's not as escapist as it sounds if it leaks these kinds if systems into it. Otherwise I may consider the red pill... or maybe not. I don't know how I feel about the concept of indefinite lifespans and that could pose its own problems down the line. So ultimately I don't really know what I'd pick. Truthfully I'm not sure human definitions of 'real' VS 'simulated' are even realistic and not simply biased to the limitations of the human experience of seeing the world because it requires defining reality VS the artificial - is the simulation not a part of overall reality? And if so doesn't that make it 'real'? Certainly we have lifeforms that may not be conscious the way we see it but they are nevertheless alive within our world's rules of physics. Would a 'simulated' lifeform also not be conforming to the laws of physics of the simulation? It may not be functioning the same way the 'real' world would work but who is even to say our world isn't a simulation? How would we know when we are limited by our human perspectives? To us it would be 'real'. Our senses are fallible and not some objective judge of reality. But this is just getting a liiiittle carried away into philosophy and science and not directly relevant to the question, but it's fun to think about. :p If I sound like I'm assuming the robot world is our world it may be because I'm already expecting it to go that direction but it wasn't the intent LOL -

Energised to make the flat more cosy -
Waiting for the guy I arranged to deliver a couch... he must REALLY want to be rid of it ASAP since I only contacted him yesterday evening and he's coming this morning LOL
-
I tend to light some candles and play albums with a hot drink. Might be browsing at the same time :p
-
I contacted a seller about a nice secondhand couch and I also ordered this gorgeous carpet for my room :]

Was the forum down for a few hours for anyone else?

Yeah the cost of a good vinyl player in itself is prohibitively expensive, if I did end up finding the money for one it'd have to be 'classics' (to me at least lol) getting bought. I do otherwise buy CDs, I loooove the art and booklets and having the lyrics correctly given to follow is very nice. Vinyl is one thing - some people actually still collect casette tapes LOL, and some bands still release them to this day even as a limited orders thing... I respect it as they are satisfying to use but I'm not sure I'd do that hahah

Rarely, the couple ones I have are in my home country (whom thankfully appreciate our friendship) and I've not had anyone stick here despite living here almost a decade which is kinda concerning :/ I do try to make plans when people show interest but it also feels like I'm the only one making the first move all the time and it just makes me feel devalued after a time, people get caught up with romantic pursuits or career chasing and it's hard not to be made to feel like shit being the one to be forgotten about...

Can we lock this thread? This post wins. There is nothing that will top it. "forever stuck in a dream" for me. I agree that it would become a sort of reality in itself... but I also get strangely attached to some of my dream worlds anyway so I'm weird about that. I swear I have recurring 'fantasy' versions of places I know from memories that grow their own character even if some of their details change that almost feel nostalgic in themselves independent of the nostalgia for their real world equivalent due to how vivid they feel. I end up remembering snapshots of made up locations and it feels like I've been there - very strange because I have aphantasia to a degree so I don't know where this extremely vivid creativity in my dreams comes from?!?

general Do you like to wear tight cloths or baggy cloths?
Raskolnikov replied to Muffinnz's topic in General Discussion
Baggy. I like having a circulation. I fought for my right to wear them. I shall never expose myself to tyranny again. BAGGY. CLOTHES. -
general What were you doing just 10 minutes ago?
Raskolnikov replied to Lisa's topic in General Discussion
Checked for you and I can access the front page at least - I don't have an account but it doesn't seem to be down? I was practicing violin chords for rhythm, gonna get back to that now :p -
S04:E21 - Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3
Raskolnikov replied to Yellow Diamond's topic in Season 4 Discussion
I honestly think this is one of the top 10, if not 5, best episodes of the show to me, simply because it shows that everyone learns differently and it's better to work with people the way they learn rather than shoehorn one method for studying for *everyone*. This is a massive flaw (among many) with the current schooling system which only sets up students to fail if they cannot adapt to rigid educational standards. I adore how they made RD actually learn REALLY well when they finally find out a method that works with how she processes information. It's so soooo important for students not to be made to feel stupid for learning differently. -
Absolutely not. The music is nooot my thing, the drinks are overpriced, and even if I weren't asexual hookup culture is awful to me LOL. And I'm not one for dances. Only one person on the planet could convince me to tag along and even then I'd be mostly chilling in a corner somewhere and people watching. :p

Sure. Loaded question no?

I really love the musical parts of the ep and I really enjoy watching it! Legitimately some of the most fun songs of the show in this episode and the cutie mark mixup was a fun concept. ...up until the Twilight-becomes-an-alicorn part lol. I spiritually jumped ship since then for a few reasons and while I've seen the whole show and enjoyed a good few episodes since this finale, I consider everything after this as an alternate canon. The lorebuilding takes strange directions over time after this ep and I wasn't really fond of the ideas. I liked the simpler and more slice-of-life cozy vibes of Twilight studying in Ponyville and I liked her more, uh, somewhat more standoffish personality before the change. So yeah mixed feelings about this ep, it's both one of my favourites AND one of the most catastrophic in the show - I gotta say though the fandom meltdown at the time was a delight to witness, LOL
