Describing the show

Recommended Posts

When asked "Why ponies," how do you typically respond in real life? Personally, I just tell them what I get from of the show (happiness, inspiration, better relationships, etc.) and maybe go into some detail on the show itself.

What's your response to that question?

I would tell them that the animation is well done, the voice acting is brilliant and the character's are bright and filled with joy.

I would be like "Well, I love it because it is a very nice show. I think I watch it because it is different from what I watch. I also like how the animation and the acting is super good."

Well, I tell them exactly why I like ponies, which can take a long time sometimes. Generally, I cut to the chase and tell them about my favorite aspect, though: The animation.

It's just so superb! It's smooth and fluid, and the attention to detail is amazing. I'm especially a fan of how much care is put into animating everypony's hair.

You know, I'm actually starting to notice that even in the earlier season one episodes. Even when all the ponies are standing still and talking to each other, their bodies and manes still move and bounce to what they're saying.

To describe the show, one must have eaten a high amount of sugar in order to balance out the happy and fun that the show provides for everyone!

I agree with everyone on this post! The animation is awesome, the voice acting is amazing, and the colors are quite fabulous!

I also like the fact that it covers material people can relate to while staying lighthearted and fun!

Plus, it's magical!

For some reason I've never been able to give a good explanation of why I like the show on the spot, but now that I think about it, I would probably tell them how good the animation is, voice acting, characters, plot, and how creative and talented the fandom is.

Whether people ask me "why" or laugh and insult me because I like ponies I always give them this:

The animations are really ****ing beautiful, for one thing, and the voice acting is spot-on. The songs are also great, especially if you like when shows or movies randomly break out into song. Another great thing is the comedy, it's not like the comedy of shows like Flapjack that rely on the grime and gruesome imagery to get you to laugh, it's pure comedy and it reminds me so much of oldschool Looney Tunes comedy in a lot of ways, both from physics and smart-alecky comments. The show also gives me a really warm feeling when watching it because of the fantastic bonds you can feel between the friends of the show.

Oh and the facial details are amazing, they are half of what makes the series so likeable because you can just feel the emotions they are trying to convey because of all the facial expressions as well as the body language given.

They certainly don't make it a secret that it's fluffy at times and yet they still keep the humor more generalized rather than just focusing on little girls. It also doesn't do what a lot of shows these days do and focus on social stereotypes and norms, they let everyone in the show be who they are with no regard for social "norms"

Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle going insane? Try to tell me that's something a little girl's show would normally do. How about dropping an anvil on Twilight's head or having Applejack smash into the ground because she's so damn tired she can't jump onto a catapult properly? Even Rarity who lives in the stereotype of the "it-girl" or "material girl" breaks out of the stereotype frequently.

They all have emotions, they all have varying personalities that they constantly break out of for one reason or another and they all have individual lives that aren't cheaply connected.

...More or less, I don't say all of that at one time but whenever I explain it I explain it a bit differently.

I've never been asked this far. But I've made a photoalbum on Facebook with all my pony pictures(memes and such) so people can see how awesome the fanbase are, and maybe they'll take a peek at the show itself.

But should I be asked the question. I think I'll say "It's just 20% cooler than any other show, and Fluttershy will make you DAWW in 10 seconds flat. Also Pinkie Pie is freaking awesome!"

I've gotten this question more than once in a couple of different ways.

The majority of the time, I pretty much say what Zoop said, and elaborated if need be.

Once or twice that didn't suffice, and I was told how dumb it was to like candy colored ponies and asked again how I could like something so girly. At which point, my argument degenerated to this.

I haven't been asked yet...And I dont' see anyone asking me either. Everyone knows I am a bit childish in my tastes to begin with. I'm an avid Disney movie collector, I love pink and I wear novelty t-shirts with cartoon characters and whatnot on them. Liking My Little Pony is not so far fetched for me.

I would probably tell them that the characters are so unique and fun and It's light hearted and makes me smile.

Well if Im describing it to someone who is truly interested I will give them a long description of every aspect of the show but if Im being interrogated I would just talk about Lauren Faust and how I love her work (which I really do)

Its an entertaining show with amazing animation and a great storyline. Its nostalgic references to relevant content for my age group and simple way of portraying a positive outlook got me hookd xD

Awesomeness = at least 20% Cooler.

Eh, usually mentioning something about Power Puff Girls/Foster's Home is enough. :P

But otherwise it's just a fun show to watch, and everybody's gotta have one cartoon series.
