gaming Super Smash Bros 4 is an incomplete game. Who do you blame? Sakurai or the fans?

So basically Smash 4 had a story mode that was scrapped, because of retards in Japan that leaked the video scenes. So Sakurai decided that he was going to ax the entire story all together. I am angry over this, the only reason it warrants a buy, is because it's Smash Brothers. But Brawl had a good story for what it was. Nintendo fans love seeing their characters interact together. I honestly think this was more of Iwata and not Sakurai. Miyamoto and Reggie I imagine were really against this.

Not having a story mode simply because "videos get on youtube" is an absurd reason not to include one. I don't mind there not being a full story mode, but I do mind the reasoning and it only proves further that Nintendo is stuck in the past sometimes.

A simple leak of a small sample of the story mode really doesn't warrant an entire revoke of the story mode entirely... That's like saying you've seen an entire movie after watching a trailer... -_-

A huge thank you to my great friend AppleGearRising for this signature picture

Thank you Apple, I love it so much!

Normally I would just post the picture, but as it seems, it is too big to put in the signature here, so here is the link to my MLP personality test results:

Not just the fans.. Imagine the artist and programmers that busted their chops to give us something amazing. I have never been happy with Sakurai that much period. Remember the Smash Dojo delays with Brawl? What did we get out of those delays? We got prat falls and a slower fighting engine.

If that is the reason than they really need to get their heads out of their asses, a few leaks here and there isn't going to dissuade people from getting the game if anything it might help. But what might at least for some people is a bone headed move like this.

I think you got the story a little mixed up: Sakurai was upset because people put the Brawl cutscenes online; he felt it ruined the whole thing. Smash 4 was never intended to have a story mode.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

Maybe Nintendo should replace Ubisoft as the most hated company. Nintendo never listens to their fans or customers. They are arrogant and dismissive of other points of view. I hope this attitude is their undoing.

Not entirely. Sony and Microsoft are just pumping out shooters for people that will play the same game from 2007. Nintendo is not perfect and they are not the way they were since the N64/GC. It's really Sakurai's fault, since HAL is his and Reggie and Miyamoto can't touch his territory, but only give some insight. Iwata is a CEO that gives his higher employees more control.

Did Nintendo give a reasonable explanation for no story mode? I can't find anything online. Also who cares, you're still going to have Twitch.tv. Why does Nintendo care about this?  >_>

I wouldn't do any business with him. Even if he did everything perfect, I still wouldn't since he said that he wouldn't do anymore Smash Brothers games and a man that goes back on his word may be seen as having no honor.

He never said there wasn't going to be an Adventure Mode, just not a story like SSE

Personally I found SSE very underwhelming, it was a good idea but not very fun in execution, so if we get something more like Melee's Adventure Mode, I'll be fine with it

Melee had a great Adventure mode, but that was old. You played the same level layout with ALL the roster. Subspace was only bad because of the items you needed and the lack of great level design. They can do some story that explains why they're together. I know fighting games have bad stories. But MK8 and all those anime arcade fighters do a great job.

This is nothing to do with Nintendo but rather Sakurai. I'm a big fan of Sakurai but he has a set vision and he does not want that vision not realised even in an optional manner. Kid Icarus Uprising only had 2 analog stick buttons for lefties because he thought that the Stylus for camera mode was the best way to play the game. He added tripping in Brawl because (At the time) Sakurai thought that Smash should not be used competitively and added it to make sure it was impossible to have a 100% fair match (He has clearly went back on that desision though.) It's most likely that Sakurai wants an 100% unspoiled story and leaking it would ruin that.

Calling it "Incomplete" however is a stretch, most likely the time used to make the story would have been moved into other areas, and let's face it SSE worn it's welcome about halfway in.

What? Are you serious? I was looking forward to something like the Subspace Emissary again. I had such a great time playing that with my sister. I'm a bit disappointed.

The game play of SSE yes. But Melee, even though it's the best fighter in the series, had a set Adventure mode with no character sense. Nintendo fans want to see their characters interact aside from fighting.

.....Also, where the hell is Captain Falcon? Seriously!

I didn't really enjoy SSE all of that much. Although a story combining a bunch of different Nintendo characters/franchises does sound exciting, I don't know that it worked well in SSE, nor do I know that it could ever work well altogether in the SSB format.

All I would like is an expanded form of Melee's Adventure Mode. Keep to Nintendo characters and environments, but expand it.

Nevertheless, I don't think that SSB4 is "incomplete" without a SSE.

The only reason I liked the emissary was because it was the quickest way to unlock all the characters for regular play. I guess that extends playability for me

I've never really played Smash for the story anyway... SSE was fun once or twice sure, but not super great(especially compared to Kid Icarus Uprising afterwards). But still, the 3DS version will have Smash Run mode for an adventure mode-style gameplay fix, and there seems to be some sort of mode with branching paths or something for single players as shown in one of the latest gameplay trailers, so it's really not all that bad! There will no doubt be plenty of options to play all around, this is a Super Smash Bros. game we're talking about here after all. ;)

(Also this is kind of old news but whatever)

*Ahem* Sorry to interrupt here but, can you provide us with any tangible proof that this is indeed the case? Any kind of coherent and believable evidence at all? .-.

I don't care about the single player mode story.  I just want to play online.  Unfortunately as it is right now it doesn't look as competitive as I hoped it would be.  Why?  I have no idea.  I don't know why Sakurai wants to limit the learning curve of this game

I'm not very happy with it myself, Brawl had an incredible story (so much talking!), and I loved Sonic's very short part at the end, at least it was something!

I was actually more than hyped for this game than anyone could imagine, just because of the positive feedback and such of Brawl's story, I thought SSB4 would contain the same thing.

It doesn't necessarily make the game "incomplete" though, it's basically just an idea that was taken out of the final product. One that will break the hearts of many fans.

I do think it's unfair and a bad call on Nintendo's end. These things happen to everyone, it's just jerks in gaming who go for the spoiler gold. I never liked spoilers, so I wouldn't have watched it anyways. It's people like this who ruin everyone else's fun though, especially since the story was so hyped for at first. Gaming companies should see things like this coming ahead of time, so don't 'rage quit'and take out the best part of the game just because it gets spoiled a little.

Anyways, my thoughts on the matter. Take them as you will. ^^
