I don't think there's been posted a Municipal Waste song in this thread before. So here, have this song by Municipal Waste. "Idiot Check"

Wrong, Crispy has posted that band in here multiple times I believe. I've never really listened to them myself, but that song you posted reminds me of "Caught In a Mosh" by Anthrax for some reason lol

Oh well... have the song anyways :P

-Actually, you should check out the album "The Fatal Feast" by Municipal Waste. It's pretty darn awesome. :3

Have another one of their songs:

What else has been diggin around in my iTunes...?

Yeah, Sacred Reich is class. This album being a bit underrated, but I think it could be EXTREMELY accessible to a number of people.

Wow, nice job trying to just come back to thread as if you've never left I mean seriously who does that

I DO SUCKA.

You haven't even listened to black metal, I bet.

Closest I could get to Black Metal is Aura Noir, Skeletonwitch, Chthonic and, in worst case examples, Warbringer. I don't have the KVLTness for TR00 Black Metal dude.

@,

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Well, I like tech death.  Thus, Aeon's been getting a lot of plays in my library these last few days.

It's a really cool song.  I'd heard of Aeon a while back, but never listened to them until now.

Hey, NNL. Semi-long time, no see. How's life been?

Speaking of Municipal Waste, a personal favorite of mine.

And I'm starting to like World Gone Dead alot, actually.Still not as good as Born of the Bomb, but a good record nonetheless.

I should listen to more thrash.

Marks are good, I have a SLIGHT social life, and I have a love interest, so in short nothing short of good.

ich King - ED-209

Here's the thing. World Gone Dead would've been as good as Born Of the Bomb, but the problem is that the production made the guitar parts sound messier in places (best examples: Act Of War solo, Aggressive Perfector cover). Otherwise, the album is great. ALL HAIL THE LICH KING.

And don't get me started. I know quite a bit to recommend. Except Crossover or Black.

Nice, nice, nice. As long as there's a girl involved, it's okay to abandon the internet ;)

Toss me, say, your top 4 artists that I probably haven't heard of.

Dokken, a very underrated and ignored band (Their post-80's stuff mostly). Some fans like to argue Dokken went downhill after the late 80's. I beg to differ, actually, I believe their sound got better and the song writing wasn't being held captive by the greedy record companies and their "hair metal" craze. Examples of this new-found sound can be heard on the following songs:

Lesser of Two Evils from Dysfunctional (1995)

Erase the Slate from Erase the Slate (1999)

Give Me a Reason from Lightning Strikes Again (2008)

Least we also not forget Don Dokken's solo group after Dokken broke up in 1987, the line-up contained a well-known musicians from various bands. Don Dokken himself on vocals and namesake, Mikkey Dee from King Diamond and Motorhead on drums, John Norum from Europe on guitar, Billy White from Watchtower on guitar, and Peter Baltes of Accept on bass. Up From The Ashes was the only album to surface from Don's band, but I consider it one his greatest, even over most of his albums with Dokken. Both Norum and White really shred on this album.

And now, one of the best songs of the 80's metal era to end my post,

Down in Flames from Up From The Ashes (1990)

Anytime. Love those guys. Another project related to that band is a progressive metal band by the name of Krallice, who hide underneath a very black metal style. They released a record last year called "Years Past Matter" that I really enjoyed...

...and their album "Dimensional Bleedthrough" is nice as well.

So yeah. Black metal for prog fans (@@NeverNeverland).

So if I were to try to get into death metal, where would be a good place to start? I typically don't like the vocals in death metal, so if you guys could maybe recommend me something with more tolerable vocals or something?

Oh but it will be.

Also I've got Animals as Leaders' self-titled in Spotify. Never really played this in full until now (yeah, shoot me). As much as Tosin Abasi is an incredible musician, I just wish the production would live up to that a bit more; the distorted tones on this album don't sound very refined.

Crispy, Chaotic Twilight, or Halfblood probably would know a bit more but I'd say maybe Kalmah or Born of Osiris (even though they're technically deathcore)

Born of Osiris' vocals never seemed too harsh to me back in '11 when I first heard 'em.

Try Gojira. Their vocals are delivered harshly and melodically at the same time. It's cool. "From Mars to Sirius" is everyone's favorite (because whales), but I like "L'enfaunt sauvage," their newest record, a good deal.

In Flames do a pretty good of sounding more "clean" than your typical death metal vocals.  Or you could try Eluveitie.  Their growls aren't deep or guttural like most other death metal bands.  Soilwork or Scar Symmetry might be good starting places too.

Stick with melodeath, and work your way up from there.  I've found that it's better that way.

I'm bored and I wanna get to know some more bands

Even though my list of albums to buy is already an endless list

While the CD store that I shop at is closing down soon

*sigh* looks like I'm gonna have to use iTunes Gift Cards

Until I find another good CD store, oh well back on topic

I've been wanting to get into grindcore/deathcore type bands

I'm already a big fan of Pig Destroyer and I've been wondering

If there are any other bands that I will like

As far as grindcore goes (and I know little) the first few that come to mind are Napalm Death, Carcass and Bolt Thrower. Every metal fan I know that likes grindcore always recommends Carcass, and Bolt Thrower is always a good choice for anyone interested in Death Metal.

All right, can someone recommend me some stuff by In Flames? I think I will try starting there. I believe I have heard a couple songs by them before and they weren't bad.

I should of probably asked if he likes folk metal first....They aren't really death metal I guess.  More so folk with melodeath influences.

I guess you're right man.

Hey, Eluvetie is always a good choice, regardless of whether its Folk or Death, but I remember some gutteral parts that may appear, so I thought I go against. They're really good though.

INB4 Djenty

Everything that NNL said, plus Wormrot and Discordance Axis. Gooood stuff.

Most grindcore albums aren't very long, unless they include some 20 minute long sludgy song at the end.

After hearing Book Burner by Pig Destroyer I think that I'd know how short most of them are

And also a 20 minute long sludgy song at the end sounds good to me

Since my favorite kind of metal is the more Sludgier type stuff

First two albums from Carcass and The IVth Crusade by Bolt Thrower are good picks to start with. Again, not the guy to go to for Grindcore.
