I listened to the Great Misdirect earlier, and to my surprise, it was really boring. Between the Buried and Me is one of those bands that I sort of want to listen to, yet can't actually do.

Go earlier.  The self-titled and The Silent Circus may appeal to your tastes more.

Anyone a fan of Knights of the Abyss?

I've been on a serious binge of Erra, too.

Bermuda is a recent deathcore outfit I've been following recently, and surprise, they're Aussie.

Oh goody, another fan of Bermuda. Haven't heard all their work yet, but I have liked what I've heard. Like this.

And on an unrelated note, Spencer Sotelo actually learned how to growl. Maybe he can provide some decent vocals for some really heavy hitting stuff? Like, Exo-Planet level heavy maybe?

(disregard lyrics)

Actually yes. Shades is one helluvan album and i should probably listen to more of their work.

Well I've found myself recently listening to this song over and over again

I really love it, and I still need to buy Vertikal, damn I should start saving up my money

And another really great song from the same album

It's a really long one, but if you don't mind longer songs then it's an amazing track

Everyone's videos in the thread just kinda got jumbled together on my browser. Odd. http://i.imgur.com/a8NBFNb.jpg

Here, have some pony:

These were actually made by a member of these forums xP

I think they are great covers, I downloaded them on my ipod lol

I haven't listened to brony music in a good while. Haven't really been able to get into it, except for this one artist called Dethonator. He took down his youtube channel and Soundcloud too, so I'm kinda sad because I found his stuff interesting. Like, he made this one and a half hour compilation of discarded songs and riffs, and there was this one super-trashy thrash-metal tremolo riff at like 51:30 that I loved a lot. Not so good at mixing though, I have to say. I still kinda want to hear his stuff again.

Haven't heard Vertikal yet though, even though everyone's talking about it. For those who have it, is it anything like "Somewhere Along the Highway"?

I haven't really heard too much stuff by Cult Of Luna from before Vertikal

Since I didn't discover their music until a little while after Vertikal had been released

But from what I've heard it's similar to their other stuff, but not too similar

Then again my judgement isn't the best because like I've said I haven't heard too much of their other stuff

The album's still worth giving a try if you ask me

You should hear some of the early Bulb stuff. Spencer actually did some good growls on that, if I remember correctly.

Listened to this album yesterday. The SYL stuff is so much better than modern Devin Townsend Project. Too bad he'll never do this again. :(

I've recently been getting into Mastodon. Holy shit these guys are so underrated.

I'm listening to this album right now while I browse the forums :3

I might actually get Parallax 2 in the future, it seems pretty cool, and I'm assuming it's similar to Colors xP

GET IT. BTBAM's one of my favourite metal bands out there. Their Parallax 2 album is amazing! It is sort of like Colors as well.

DAG NABBIT DJENTY. I'm one of those people that likes "The Great Misdirect" more than "Colors." I think it's more cohesive and engaging, even if only by a little bit.

Plus that bluegrass part brought Colors from a 10/10 to a 9.5/10. It didn't fit at all.

Implying i haven't listened to early Bulb stuff. How do ya think I found Periphery? I prefer the "softer" stuff he does personally, like the beginning of All New Materials from Periphery I and stuff like this, though.

So I heard Twiliscael couldn't get drone. I see it fit that I should post some drone in this thread.

If you're getting into drone (and are able to stand 20+ minute songs) then check out the best in the business, Nadja.

Listened to this while traveling to the Poconos and it was perfect. Reminded me of the blizzard that happened here on the beast coast as well (hip hop jokes durr).

Stop posting drone, if I want to hear it I can go and find a beehive or better yet, open my refrigerator and just stick my head in it.

Fine! Take this shit, the stuff YOU don't like.

For Deku-boy, some nice quality CHELSEA GRIN. EMBRACE IT because as we all know, deathcore is the future of all metal, right?

And for Djenty, here's some of the best music on the planet, right? Mainstream pop-punk is the future of deathcore, which is already the future of metal, right?

Heres a pretty good italian melodeath band. Called 5Star Grave

I like that they mainly use power chords rather than just play the last two strings of whatever guitar they use like a lot of bands.

Just remembered to look up these guys again:

Still some of my favorite death meal.

After listening to that one In Flames album I bought a while ago multiple times, I decided that I like these songs quite a bit. Take This Life is probably still my favorite though.

Nice to see that you're getting into In Flames

I still have yet to buy my first album by them

Take This Life is one of my favorite songs by them as well

Though I've gotta admit that their older stuff was pretty damn good too

Yeah I need to buy some of their older stuff as well. I'm gonna have to listen through their old albums and see which songs I like the best.

Thanks TBAT for showing me Ever Forthright. Listening to this album two or three times now, I think it's safe to say that I like 'em better than Periphery. It's like, pre-Sotelo era Periphery on LSD with jazzy fusiony stuff.

Plus the album art has boobs on it.

AND THEY DJENT

I always wondered where Baretto went after he got the boot from Periphery.

THEN I DON'T THINK YOU'LL MIND LIL B AKA LIL BOSS OF THE PACK?

Joke's on you, I started liking Lil B once I realized that I was being a hipsterfag and not giving him a shot.

Most people think that The Jester Race is their best album

I've heard the first two or three tracks from it and I thought that it was pretty good

A lot of people seem to think that the newer In Flames stuff is terrible and "sell-out type" music

Though if you wanna know my personal opinion I think that both the new and old In Flames are awesome

For some reason, I can't view the songs y'all posted.  Oh well, I guess I'll have to use IE.

Anyway, I found this cool pagan metal band called Hel.   They create some beautiful, atmospheric metal.   It's not super heavy, but it's still amazing.

Also, Finsterforst.

SHUT UP MARGE SIMPSON AND PIG SQUEALS AT THE SAME TIME I'M LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WITH ACTUAL FUCKING SUBSTANCE

Like this. A band with 8-string guitars that actually uses all eight strings.

oh wait twiliscael already plugged them but WHATEVER THIS PLAYTHROUGH IS GODLIKE

I find it easy for me to say this, but, I just found the greatest guitarist in the world. His name is Michael Angelo Batio.

img-1207868-1-mikequad.jpg

Never before have I ever seen a quad neck guitar so sick as that, I have the exact video where he plays it from his band Nitro. Guitar World Magazine back in the early 90's voted him as the Fastest Guitarist of All Time, which to this day, has never been beaten.

Be warned, it is awful Glam Metal but, Michael at least is good in it. Simply stunning is all I can say.

For those who want something less-Glamy, you can see his Metal Method video showing his Speed Kills lesson.
