So on map of metal, I found out about some band called Blood Stain Child, just like five minutes ago.

They're supposed to be like "trance metal"

Well, you succeeded. A while back I said that I wanted to find a band that correctly meshed electronica with metal, and you just found that band. Thak ya very much, I'm checking some of their stuff out now.

Melodeath! Melodeath!

I've been listening to Kalmah's discography, and man I am impressed. One of the best bands I've heard recently, for sure.

Sad But True is really boring in my opinion, and Enter Sandman is extremely overrated.

Have you listened to the album "And Justice For All"? That's a really great album. My personal favorite Metallica album.

Nope, I only know Sad But True, Enter Sandman

And a few songs from their best of album (Don't know the names of the tracks though)

But like what I said, Metallica isn't really in my preferences

It's just not the style that I'm really big into

Though I may keep that album in the back of my mind

For listening to sometime when I feel like it

I don't recall Metallica having a best of album...

And how can you say you don't like them if you have only heard a few songs? :/

I think maybe you would like some of their other stuff if you gave it a listen.

I never said that I didn't like them...well okay maybe I did sound like that

Though I'm just not a big fan of what I've heard, which is why I said that I'd keep that album in the back of my mind

And maybe it wasn't a best of album, though one of my classmates is a Metallica fan and he played an album by them

Well if you ever consider giving Metallica more of a chance, these are my personal favorite albums:

And Justice For All

Master of Puppets

Death Magnetic

Other people on this thread would probably recommend Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning, which are also good.

The black album isn't bad either, I like the song "Wherever I May Roam" a lot

They're supposed to be like "trance metal" which is awesome, since trance is my favourite sub of EDM! I remember I really wanted to listen to some trance metal a year ago, but all google would give me would be links to threads recommending Enter Shikari. And I'm all like "dude post hardcore =/= metal or trance, gg". So this is more like modern MDM + trance, which meshes pretty well with me.

Oh, I've heard of that band.  Their latest album is really good in my opinion.  Thanks for reminding me about them!

Anyway, speaking of electronics and metal, I've been listening to Godflesh for a long time.  They're a lot darker than most industrial metal groups.  A lot darker.

Okay then...well I thank you for the recommendations

And Ride The Lightning sounds familiar to me

I think my guitar teacher that I used to have taught me the intro to that song

And he let me listen to it, I don't remember it too well, but I think I might have liked it

These guys are one of the first grind bands I got into. Total maniacs! Its a shame they have a new line-up now with none of the original members. But the album this song is on, "Process of Elimination" was so brutal to my ears when I first bought it in grade 10.

I've given these guys a few listens before. I like them. They're not really anything too special in my opinion, but a good band nonetheless.

Also, I had a nice long talk about Strapping Young Lad and Devy with my English teacher. Never knew he was such a cool guy.

I found something really abrasive today. It's not necessarily metal but it has that sort of aesthetic. Much like Death Grips but integrating much more of a harsh noise element. Ladies and gentlemen, Clipping.

BWSSSSSSSSHHHHHH

And some actual metal to compensate for that; specifically my favorite Alcest release, the 2011 re-recording of the "Le Secret" EP.

I can't understand your accent. I think you meant to say "djentleman."

I found this album, strangely enough, at Hot Topic. I couldn't resist paying for something I already owned. At least I got a hard copy?

EDIT: Anyone know of any decent 7-strings for decent price? I wanna try to apply my knowledge of a typical guitar to a 7 because 7's are better.

Today I got some intense eargasmic pleasures from this:

Never really been into Machine Head before, but now I'm definitely going to check out their other stuff .

Dude, Machine Head is my JAM.

Seriously though, I love that band so hard. Locust is a good song, have you heard the rest of the Unto the Locust? If you liked Locust, you might also like stuff like Halo, or Be Still and Know. Of course, all of their stuff is good. It took me a while to realize this, but that even includes their alternative/nu-influenced albums The Burning Red and Supercharger. Definitely avoid those if you're only into the groove-thrash stuff though.

I got my vinyl of Parallax 2 at hot topic. ;DDDDdddd

Be like me and get an Ibanez Rg 7321, or better yet, look up the new Ibanez 8 string model. It's cheaper than the Rg 7321, and it sounded nice when I played it in store.

hmmmm.....how about some nice good Pelican

Funny, I randomly found some of these guys on my computer when I was setting up my iPod. Was listening to sum o dat.

Oh and Moog, did you know that best Radiohead is THE BENDS?

Also, A7X's older stuff is so underrated compared to their newer stuff...this song is friggin' badass.

Once their vocalist screwed over his voice is when I stopped liking them. He always growled incorrectly, which has affected him now. I think that because of that, they felt the need to "water down" their music to suit him. Shame, because I quite like their first 2 albums.

Look at the difference between this:

and this:

Also, I always thought their lead guitarist was a bit underrated. Gates is a fine guitarist, especially on his work in his previous band Pinkly Smooth,

I'm not a fan of A7X but I'll admit that their older stuff was half decent

Damnit why did I buy Nightmare a couple of years ago

But then again why did I buy half of the CDs in my collection years ago

Anyone else like long songs?  I do. And not an album like Catch33 or Colors where it's one song divided into a bunch of tracks. Some favorites of mine are Natasha by Pig Destroyer, The Man With No Face by Slice The Cake, Racecar by Periphery, In The Presence of Enemies (both parts) by Dream Theater, and a couple others.

Coheed is accepted here, correct?

Hell yeah bruh.

At any rate, I started to actively listen to Insomnium, and I don't know why I haven't before.  I love melodeath, and these guys are pretty good, imo.

Some of my favorite DRONE BANDS make really long tracks. Like Boris. You should listen to Boris. They're not drone like Sunn O))) refridgerator metal, but they still fall within the genre on some albums.

Ha. I bet you actually like Pablo Honey.

Oh boy...you asked for it Twiliscael...

First of all, they didn't change their style because he screwed up his voice, anyone who is an A7X fan (like me) would know that. It's been confirmed that they wanted to stop screaming way before they even started writing City of Evil. It had nothing to do with him screwing up his voice or anything like that.

Also, I like almost all of their newer stuff except for some songs that I find to be boring such as Gunslinger and Dear God. Actually, I find most of the self-titled album to be pretty mediocre compared to STST, WtF, and CoE. I thought the Nightmare album was definitely an improvement over the self-titled album, especially the song Save Me, which is phenomenal.

However, I will say that I preferred the way he sang on the Waking the Fallen album. I don't care as much for his singing style after that, but I still like it well enough.  I don't really like how he sang on "Carry On" though, it didn't sound that great for whatever reason.

But anyway, even though their older stuff was really awesome, I still think a lot of their newer stuff is really great. Prominent examples of this for me would be Sidewinder, MIA, Blinded in Chains, Save Me, Natural Born Killer, and several other songs mainly from City of Evil and Nightmare. In fact, CoE is my favorite album after WtF, which I've probably mentioned several times before lol

So anyway, that pretty much sums up what I wanted to say xP
