I thought the Nightmare album was definitely an improvement over the self-titled album, especially the song Save Me, which is phenomenal.

And Save Me is probably one of the worst songs I've ever heard off of that album

Sucks, cause it actually had mild potential, but they just had to screw the whole song up

I did eventually listen to Save Me and I still found it really boring

And the Nightmare album.....

Maybe it's just that I can't get into A7X's style or I don't understand it too well

But the whole album to me, just doesn't sound any bit interesting

I found all of the songs just plain, boring, and uninteresting

 

And hey man like I said we both hate Gunslinger

That's an opinion I can agree with

But still just cause you're the guy with the opinions for the minority

Heres is some Maiden and this is probably my favorite album by them. They have the best album artwork from what I have seen too. You like heavy metal you like Iron Maiden.

Hopefully this is good enough for everyone.

People are allowed to have differing opinions, brah. I've said before, I liked their earlier metalcore work because it was fairly technical and enjoyable to me.

 

Anywho, I decided to get Veil of Maya's debut, Common Man's Collapse. So far, it seems about on par with [id], but I may be a bit prejudiced considering I heard it first. Eclipse seemed right about the same as their previous work too. Listening through, none of their work ever seems to really change, but who's complaining?

 

I love how their songs are never too long, either. Just enough to get a good taste of what the song's about, and then it changes before getting too boring.

 

Probably my favorite band to ride the Meshuggah copy-cat train.

 

(Shit, I listen to way too many bands on Sumerian)

Good one right there. It's very enjoyable and fun to listen to. Some of my favorites would be Kingdom and Save Our Now.

 

Ziltoid and Addicted! are sort of similar, although slightly heavier. Addicted! Has the same girl as Epicoud doing vocals though.

I'll admit that A7X's older stuff was half decent and I actually don't mind some of it

Don't be that way. This thread is all about butting heads and varying opinions. Sure I think M. Shadows' voice is annoying. I also think everything they've done is extremely uninventive, and "City of Evil" may be one of my least favorite albums ever.

 

But why should you care?

 

Twiliscael doesn't like drone, Djenty doesn't like TesseracT (well that's certainly beating a dead horse)... we all have varying tastes, which is what brings us together in a way. We're all part of some minority musically, whether it be my obsession with Bon Iver, or Djenty's based-ness, even your A7X worship. Embrace that.

But dude, everyone has bands (and even whole genres) that they don't like. There's also nothing wrong with sharing an opinion that no-one's gonna agree with. I do it that from time to time, and sometimes, you'll find that people actually do agree. Sometimes. Not always. In that case, people really suck.

 

Besides, what kind of fun would it be if everyone here had the same musical taste?

There's me, then there's one of my closer friends (a guy) who listens to metal sometimes, with mostly core stuff. He likes Alexisonfire and All That Remains and stuff, but also some stuff like Lamb of God, Scar Symmetry or Fleshgod Apocalypse. Variety is always a good thing.

Thank god, man. I like them a bit, though not nearly as much as I used to. Sure, their riffs are recycled and their lyrics are generally just "I FUCKING HATE YOU, FUCK, BITCH, SHIT, AAAAAAAHHHHHH!" but I still find 'em to be good for when I'm angry. They get alot more shit than they deserve, if you ask me. inb4 Djenty comes in and yells at me for saying that.

 

So uh... here's the part where I post some grind so I seem like I have a decent taste in music.

Yeah most of the people in my school will either listen to rap, hip-hop, rock, electronic (well more accurately just Skrillex) etc.

The only metalheads in my school are actually both in my class (disincluding the BVB fangirls)

But they like different stuff than I do

Yet when people said that they don't like that style of Progressive

Instead of going after them for it, I just shrugged at it

And maybe we aren't "bashing" them but we're giving constructive criticism about them

I would never say that A7X is the greatest band ever, nor would I say that any of the members of the band are any of the greatest musicians ever. So while I really like a lot of the band's work, I would not say they are the best band ever, cause that's just not true. 

 

Unfortunately, I always see comments from fanboys like "0mg a7x is da best metal band eva".

 

It's too bad that there's all these stupid fanboys making the a7x fanbase look bad. But oh well, nothing I can do about it.

It's not that I get mad at the person for their differences, it's just that I take personal offense whenever someone says something I like sucks. It's just one of those things that really bothers me and gets me angry.
