That's pretty cool. I barely listen to pop-punk, and I don't really like it at all, but that second video you posted really got me. It's gotta be the vocals though, I put too much weight on them. In pretty much any case.

Yeah, they're hardcore, just not your average caveman style hardcore.  Fantastic storytelling in their lyrics and they make really good calls on when to let the percussion carry the song.

 

If you like them, you'd probably like Modern Life Is War a good deal, as well.

Re-listened to Kickback's No Surrender again. One of the best Metalcore albums in recent memory imho. The vocalist can sound very annoying at first, like if his throat is sore, but he can sing very emotionally, so he makes up for it.

Slayer's my favorite of the big four, because they've stuck to their story for the past 30 years. Can't say it'll stay the same without Dave and Jeff in the band, though...

So I just hopped on this thread and was blasted with metal. Now I am not so much a metalhead considering I am not hardcore into the music and the bands. I am more of a hellbilly, I switch from country to rock. I enjoy some country because it has a nostalgia to it and some of the songs I agree with, though recent country stars plain suck. But this isn't a country thread so let's get to the point. I like what I like I don't really pay much attention to the bands themselves. I started out in metal with Metallica, heard some system of the down here and there but who really got me into the genre would be Avenged Sevenfold. Now being a christian I recognized a lot of biblical undertones which I enjoyed but at the same time I am a disturbed troubled youth and that half was also satisfied. My first avenged song would be Nightmare, after that I fell in love. Now I am checking out slipknot and giving system of the down more of a chance.

Is there at least one other person here that enjoys Man is the Bastard as much as me? Probably not. If you like powerviolence/hardcore give it a listen. It's alot different from other bands, as the bass takes precedence over the guitar, but its really great stuff.

I finally give Device a shot and I absolutely love it just from the first song. Draimon got even more melodic in his vocals. Definitely gonna keep listening. Can't wait for Disturbed to get off Hiatus, if ever, but I think I could be satisfied with Device in the meantime, especially if they keep up the trend that Disturbed did and just got better with each album.
