Come on guys. Let's take pride in our metal. Try to elaborate a bit more on what you're posting and all, or be like me and make fun of ToBeATree. ;D

So anyway Deku,

EXOPLANET

Was fucking awesome! I loved the variation of tone on that album. It went from in your face "djentcore" to calming, atmospheric acoustic guitar. Great album/song. Reminds me of the days when I loved songs like Cygnus and all. (Not that I don't anymore :S)

I am not a huge Metal fan, but this song alone caught my attention when I was searching turntable.fm the other day:

Damn, the instrumentals and breakdowns are just so well-done. I'm not the kind of guy who can stand screaming lyrics, but the song's composition alone is just epic. If you haven't searched Breakdown of Sanity before, I recommend you do, even if you're not huge on Metal.

Erh mer gherd, metal noob inbound.

Anyways, I know nothing about metal, so I'm not totally sure what's metal and what's not.

I'm pretty sure that this is metal.

But what about this?

I think it is, but still, I need help from the semi-experts ;)

-Megadeth-

You're doing it right! :D Megadeth was one of my introductory metal bands. They are some pretty solid thrash, at least with their early stuff. If you like that, then I suggest listening to the rest of that, and maybe the album before that, "So Far, So Good, So What?".

I think it's that, at least.

Now that other stuff... More hard rock-ish, to me.

I heard Peace Sells a long time ago, when I started 3rd grade. Mah dad, who's into 80's rock and metal, gave me a CD with numerous rock/metal songs. Peace Sells was the only one which I was able to find the name. It was also mah favorite song on the CD. It almost made me a metal fan, but I lost interest afterwards, While some metal/hard rock songs are good to me (Does AC/DC count as hard rock?), I'm not totally into it for the most part.

AC/DC always seemed like straight up Classic Rock, to me. They defined some of the "fuck you, I do what I want" attitude that helped metal become what it is today.

So you're not really into metal/rock as much as some of the posters here... If you're just looking to listen to a nice song that'll stick in your head and all, then Metallica Metallica METALLICA. Sorta entry level metal, but accesible as fuck to some metal newcomers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFbdYvolxRM&feature=related

Emphasis on this album.

"Parental Advisory" label. I likey

Also, does A7X (Avenged Sevenfold) count as metal too? There's 2 songs I like from them.

This is like a combo of rock/metal/whatever and.....classical?

And this one. Of course, I heard this in Black Ops Zombies :P

Yes, but I don't like them. They always seemed to be so soft and all, while I prefer more "extreme" subgenres. :S A good djent band if you like clean vocals would have to be Periphery. If you're interested, that is :P

Oh, and I see you brought CoD music here. I raise you this, the best CoD song ever.

Ah yes. The song I always hear whenever everyone dies http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png. Or when I find the 3 jars in Der Riese. In that case, this song is more than welcome ^_^

Bringing it back with Yngwie. Sick nasty guitarist. Honestly only started listening to him really heavily for a bout a year.

I'm glad you feel that way! While Exoplanet is much more varied than Intrinsic, I still say Intrinsic is superior. It's much more toned down and I think that works better for them.

I feel like I am disgracing this thread by being the one to post this, but unfortunately I am the herald of bad news: NeverNeverLand is leaving. Now. Link above, I really don't know what else to say...

Well... this isn't going to be easy. To quote (well really paraphrase) Tom Ridgewell, "I'd like to say that I don't know what I'll do without him, but I do know. I just know that it's not going to be as fun anymore."

A little Converge seems fitting right now.

Yeah, buddy. I really like Board Up The House. I'm sure there's a few torrents up if you look hard enough.

Yeah, it's a loss. We're just going to have to ride it out and see what develops. :(

I'm feeling more Nodes of Ranvier. Worth your time if you've never heard of them.

I FOUND ONE :D Finally get to listen to this after about a year. ALSO: I want to start a music reviewing channel soon, so I'll keep everyone posted if I have the fortitude to stay in front of a camera for 10 minutes at a time.

In other news, I no longer give a fuck.

Ermeghawd Kinfe Prty! Again, solid Deftones album. Definitely one of the best of them.

Listening to these guys. And holy fuck, this is awesome music. Not what I expected from Grindcore.

There's a reason that they're my favorite grindcore band. Have a new cut from their upcoming record, "Book Burner." I'm psyched as I'll ever be for next month. What with this, Death Grips, Between the Buried and Me, and Behold... the Arctopus releasing stuff, I'm going to piss myself like an overexcited puppy.

That's because you picked a genre defining album. Prowler In the Yard is one of the best grind albums of all time.

In my mathcore ventures, I seem to like these guys a lot. Especially for that bass. Specifically the intro on:
