Some more technical thrash metal for all of you. Pretty excellent band if you ask me. I've seen comparisons of these guys to Voivod, which I don't understand at all.

WHY DOES EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD LIKE THIS GUYS. I've seen them, yet have still never listened to them.

Gonna break the rules here, like I so often do. A really good emo/skramz band, Deku recommended them a while back. They have a lot of mathcore-ish elements, I think.

Speaking of which, where the hell is Deku? He hasn't been on Skype, or posting, in over a week. ;_;

Because they're fast, epic, innovative (as far as thrash goes) and overall just fantastic musicians. Give Black Future a shot if you have time.

Busy? How would I know...

I usually go to him for other genre discussion, and he's not here. ;_; LIFE IS SO HARD.

I had only heard the Epicloud version.

Now I know why this album is regarded as his worst.

Required black metal November listening for those who seek inner kvlt. This album scared me with it's black noiseness, and I think I said something about it before.

Yes it can be terribly difficult.

I've been on a massive Lich King binge... I don't know why, but I think their new album Born of the Bomb is a bit fantastic, if not a bit simplistic and silly at parts.

Help plz. ;_;

FINALLY got my internet back today. Power came back on Sunday, but it was still a while before the cable came up and I wasn't able to see the S3 premiere live this morning. But I did see it, and that's all that matters.

METAL STUFF TIME. I can't stop listening to Ne Obliviscaris' "Portal of I," which is good and bad at the same time, because I love that record to death, but I need to listen to other stuff too, and the fact that PoI is taking up so much listening time is distracting from that... having a bit of a metal dilemma here OH SHIT TACTICAL PUNKY BRUSTER INBOUND.

Tyr has been releasing folk/progressive metal masterpieces since day one.

I love the lyrics too. Viking themes are incredibly cheesy, but great nonetheless.

There is a part of this song that sounds EXACTLY like a part of Blackened by Metallica. Not sure if coincidence or not...hmmmm

It's probably just a coincidence. Dream Theater tends to put in similar riffs from their songs to pull off a feeling of connection between albums, but they've never taken from another band.

All in all, I doubt they've literally copied the riff.

It's not a riff that sounds the same, it's the vocal part. Listen to 7:15 on "This Dying Soul" and then listen to 1:59 on "Blackened". It sounds really similar.

"You'll get your internet back on Sunday!"

Sunday comes, no cable. Thanks, Cablevision.

On topoc, my musical rotation lately has been alot of Deftones, specifically White Pony and self-titled.

Goood stuff man.

I'm sorry man, I thought you were talking about the riffs in both songs. I guess I see what you're talking about. They're kind of similar in terms of vocal approach. Both have that kind of snarl.

And for everypony else, here's some Witchcraft

I like how you're listening to some of their best stuff.

Well guys, I'm going to attempt the impossible: I'm am into-ing Sun O)). I don't know how this will work out, but they're essential drone metal, so I want to hear them.

Will judge them after some listening.

Let me just put out some more Sabaton!

The fact that I'm learning Swedish makes swedish metal that much more awesome, I still have to listen to alot more Sabaton before I can get a solid opinion. Other than that they are awesome!

Mr. Muse in the metal thread? What's up man?

I have a band I'd recommend to you. The Human Abstract. More specifically, their album Digital Veil.

Their a fantastic band and their vocalist sounds extremely similar to Mathew Bellamy but can growl. I'd recommend them to anyone on this thread, actually.

Nah, I've judged whole genres based on single albums!

And with folk metal like that, I just have one huge problem: THE CHEESINESS. I tend to take music more seriously than it should be, most of the time, and when they are trying to sound like vikings and all, I just can't continue listening. It's not really emotion they're conveying, as much as just some role.

I found this video where they mix "Five Magics" by Megadeth and "Wherever I May Roam" by Metallica. There's also a bunch of other videos with other songs by Megadeth and Metallica mixed together. It's not always perfect, but I like the idea of it.

Well... I think it's worth mentioning the new Wintersun record, "Time I." Probably the first symphonic metal record I've sunken my teeth into (not that I have anything against it, but I just never had the time or want to do so). And it is GOOD.

The new album has grown on me. It's pretty basic Acacia Strain style. Monster chugs and lots of hate. Worth your time if you don't mind simple.

Didn't they take like, NecroFagist time to make that record? I heard fans had to wait a while or something.

lots of hate.

:DDDD

I'm still scared of Acacia Strain because of their generic-ness. B-but I'll try it...

Thus the hype it got. The fans are definitely pleased though.

Having a grind evening tonight. Started Pig Destroyer's debut, "Explosions in Ward 6." If you thought Prowler was insane, then listen to this, whydoncha? The big downside is J.R.'s attempts at growls, which are really Cookie Monster-like and don't even hold a candle to his mids and highs. It's more than made up for by the Melvins cover however.

Anyway, now I've moved on to Agoraphobic Nosebleed's second album, "Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope." The drum machine is gravity blasting my head to pieces, and it's GOOOOOOOOOD. AND WAIT THERE'S A SPEEDCORE PART IN THE MIDDLE MY GOD MAN. There's actually a good 5 minutes of non-grind material in the middle of this one. Fucking mindblowing.

I also got a hold of Magrudergrind's self-titled and Terrorizer's "World Downfall." Gonna have fun with this.

Magrudergrind

Hey, wasn't I the one to tell you about these guys? :D Also, Cara Neir. Listen to them.

I haven't listened to all that much metal today, instead, I listened to Lord Quas. B-but now I'm in a metal mood, so I shall share my band of choice with you all.

In honor of black metal November, I'm listening to Dolovotre. Not sure what subgenre it is, because I found it in a sharethread a while ago. Looking forward to this, though. :D
