when i was a kid, i was always pretty interest in how older games and consoles were back in the day.

i had a friend who owned consoles like the old NES and gamecube.

we would always go over to him and play that classic pokemon arena and stuff like that.

i didnt grew up with the first game boy, but with the GBA version.

good times.

Is it bad if this caused me to scream about NES and Call of Duty for the last 30 minutes?

I'm serious. I've been silently whispering screams about them because of this video. It contained many swears.

Hold on....

HOW COME I'M 13 AND OWN AND PLAY ON AN ORIGINAL GAMEBOY WITH COPIES OF TETRIS AND POKEMON RED???????

Yes we're not old just yet

BTW Gameboy may age but will never get old

It's a little different for people who game regularly and/or have gaming parents. Regardless of your age you will inevitably have people who will just have or want to know about this stuff because it's just another game console. I suspect most of the kids in the video probably aren't big gamers, especially since their platform of choice is something like an iPad.

This was thanks to my brother and my love of pokemon.

And personally I think pokemon red/blue, zelda etc are better than alot of the apps you get now

I'm a slight nerd when it comes to games :)

Well, that was funny stuff. I think I have my game boy color around here somewhere, I only found the rumble pack thing just now, it was a see through purple color. I played a bunch of games on it of course and got the advance and sp afterwards.

And that part where the kid said he would throw it away, I'm not surprised and don't really blame him. I wouldn't throw mine away but only because nostalgia, and I'd never play it ever again really, just keep it shelved for all eternity. It's honestly a hunk of junk by today's standards. (I was all like "oh yeah, I remember that" when they were talking about all the lighting and magnifying peripherals)

I still have mine, and enjoy it greatly.... Damn kids.... Just don't know the charms of the olden times ;)

Same! I still have my gameboy with Pokémon Red as well! Funny thing is that I was born the year where GameBoy's weren't cool. I was the only kid with it back in Elementary...now I'm rambling. What games do you have?

Well, I'm not really one for the whole thing with things being good just because their old, but there are plenty things to enjoy about gameboy and older systems and stuff.

I know exactly what a gameboy is and all that being 17, but I am sort of surprised that some of the kids seemed clueless on how to work the gameboy. They seem to pick up other technology pretty well, so idk why a gameboy is a challenge, but regardless.

While I don't really say gameboy is the best just because nostalgia or anything, There are plenty of fun and enjoyable games on the gameboy and other older consoles. And the same for newer.

This is of course my opinion, maybe I'm just a weirdo ;p.

These kids are all a bunch of try hards attempting to act funny so they might get bought back to do another one of these truly awful videos.

I had to stop the video and start puking. I actually had a Game boy colour not an original Game Boy. The GBC took 2 AA batteries GB took 4 AA batteries ain't nobody got time for that.

I just have to post this because it is exactly how these kids make me feel.

Seriously though I have had all the iterations of the Gameboy and of course currently have the 3DS and things have certainly come a long way but there are a few original Gameboy games that I still play to this day. Without this "piece of junk" as one of them called it we wouldn't have the 3DS.

At the start of the video, I thought there was no hope for the current generation. Then the kid in the green t-shirt and glasses redeemed them. There is still hope! He is the one ray of hope in his entire generation of Apple users and CoD fanboys. The technology of yesteryear will never die!

I do know what a game boy is. There was a time when I didn't know what it was, but I learned even if I didn't have one.

I don't care what pony you like because I like everypony!

Some of the reactions on this thread are a little more confusing to me than that of the kids; honestly.

In the end, these kids weren't brought up on that generation of gaming. How would they? I'd be shocked if they knew what the original Game Boy was.

This is something that we have to get used to. Yes, the Game Boy was and still is a VERY important part of the history of gaming, but that's it. I have fond memories of it and I still have my old Game Boy, but what does that mean to these kids? When they get older, there will be another generation of kids who'll likely wonder why an iPad or Kindle is so heavy & bulky (not saying it is, mind you).

Keep in mind that most of these kids have no idea what a walkman is, were confused by old computers, and never heard of Duck Tales.

Why is that so bad?

I don't understand why people here are reacting the way they are. I grew up on the gameboy too, played the original Pokemon games. If I had grown up today and played the new fully 3d one first, I doubt I would feel the same way towards the original ones. Just because the kids don't feel the same way about a thing you like, doesn't make them some kind of asshole. They're kids. Give them a break.

Gameboys are indeed the precursor to what we have now. I don't think that's really all that important, especially to kids. The first computers made were an important step in history. That doesn't mean they aren't a piece of shit compared to my computer now. The gameboy has nothing on the 3ds's technology. Why would a kid care about an outdated machine? The only reason we care is because we grew up with it.

I didn't had a Gameboy, I started with GB Color as a handheld consumer. I had fun times with it, Pokemon, Gallery, Megama Xtreme, Super Mario Bros Deluxe, etc. I recently played some games in a EMOlator though

At least in Duck Tales' case, they've missed out on quality programming regardless of the era. Stuff like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry were still popular thirty and fifty years after they stopped being made but they remain good stuff.

Considering I'm 13 and I knew about the game boy even before the video was posted I know thatthe current generation has lots of hope because the internet and emulators are giving this generation the knowledge and experiences of the last few gaming generations.

I still have my Gameboy Color that I used to play with during car rides, and had tons of fun playing Pokemon Yellow and Super Mario Bros Deluxe... and it still works fine.

If I ever have kids, I hope to raise them to appreciate older consoles and games.

What ? They'd prefer an iPad ???

I'm a few years older than them and I'd rather have a Game Boy than a tablet...

"Why can't it be called Game Boy Girl?" When I was kid I'm pretty sure I wondered why it had to be Game Boy as I played on my pink GBA.

Fun fact :

Back when the Game Boy came out, the word Game Boy in French was considered a male noun. Makes sense, right ? Well now, since a "console" is a female noun, the Game Boy is considered a female noun :)

I had a light blue Game Boy Color as a kid, but really have no idea what's happened to it. Kept better track of my handhelds since then, since they are my main way of gaming atm. :P

I still have a white Game Boy Advance though, used it rather recently to replay the Pokémon Trading Card GBC game a bit actually. Lack of a backlight on it sucks though, hope to get an GBASP to replay some of my other old GBC games eventually. :)

I think the video there's pretty silly tho, kids these days have it too easy when it comes to gaming, dang whippersnappers. :derp:
