Dude, I think it would be epic to have another Alicorn in the show!  Maybe one that's a bit rough around the edges, and one that's not so disappointingly... princessy.  Still, maybe they'd better develop the Alicorns they already have before moving on to a new one.  Like Maybe Luna should show up in an episode and stay in it, and maybe Celestia should get off her flowy tail and actually do something useful for once.

Are they going to drop another Cadance in the show just for the sake of doing it? Oh look another princess. What is she princess of? As far as the show goes, no one knows where she came from and if you don't read the books she is just a pretty princess  until she starts being a character in season four.

 

C'mon... The producers should spend more time developing the characters ratter than creating new ones. But this is just my dumb opinion of someone who understands that the show is made of 20 minute commercials for Hasbro to sell their stuff. I thought that people praised the quality in this show.

I'd be fine with it, most probably; I like every alicorn character in the show so far (and feel indifferent about the random background alicorns), and even if a new one didn't interest me much, I doubt it'd be causing any problems when it's well-written... aside from the fandom rage that'd ensue, of course.

What is the point of Alicorns anyway? Honestly, if one practices magic long enough they could give themselves butterfly wings and have all the magic abilities ever. Anyone could be an alicorn then!

I'd be fine with it if the character was well written, as the OP suggests, and not out of freaking nowhere.  No more alicorns out of freaking nowhere, please.  In fact, no more characters out of freaking nowhere, please.

 

 

Alicorns are Mary Sue characters: they're flawless, too OP... You can't make a good show if the characters don't have any problem.

But they don't have to be.  All you can say with the information we have is that the four alicorns we have are too flawless, which is completely debatable.  I'd say that Luna is definitely the proof that alicorns are not flawless.  I agree that you can't make a good story with a perfect character, but how would Magic Sheep fit into that at all?  I don't know how anyone could classify an individual who's wracked with guilt and punishes herself daily as "flawless".  But I realize that this is an old post, and Magic Sheep didn't exist then.  I'm mainly writing this for the benefit of anyone else reading this.

 

I, for one, think it would be great to introduce a natural born alicorn in some distant corner of the world who's not a princess, not skilled with magic, or even powerful in any way.  Just an anomalous alicorn on the fringe of society that has some interesting and unexpected role to play in events to come.  That would be my idea for a "well" written character, not just another princess who pops in because the plot demands it because the CEO demands that they need a new alicorn princess toy on the shelves for Christmas.

I wouldn't really think that would be a good decision. Alicorns in season 1 and 2 were important creature with magic abilities beyond that of others. Then they seem to have lost this importance with everyone and their grandmother becoming an alicorn. It would be like every superhero becoming superman, it just dosen't really work, unless they are killed off by a great threat.

I'm sorry, but being an Alicorn is losing it's grandeur as it is.

See, what made the Alicorns great in the first place is that they're so rare, and with four of the bloody things, they're already pushing it.

 

We have four Alicorns out of around 300 ponies. That's not exactly a large percentage of the population.

 

We know that new Alicorns can be made, so it is very unlikely that the 4 we know of are the only ones in the whole world. If they went overboard and introduced a new one in every other episode, that would maybe be too many, but just one or even two more would be fine.
