ReGen 1,466 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 This is a genuine curiosity. Here's the skinny (Aw... dammit): I am 5 feet and 8 inches tall and I only weigh 105 pounds. I've had people comment on my weight, criticizing me for being too skinny, and that I should eat more or work out. I've asked my mother and she says it's normal for my age, and that my older brother has also had it. But now, because of peoples' comments, i've gotten a bit self-concious about my body image. It's 80-something degrees out and i'll wear a sweatshirt just to cover up my arms. Has any one else dealt with this issue before? And would you say i'm dangerously thin? Thank you! Kawaiihusky 19 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Hi. I'm 15, 4'11", I weigh 75 pounds, and cannot seem to gain any weight. I have a smaller appetite than most people, so I get full easier and hungry less often. Also, I have a high metabolism. My doctor told me to eat more nuts and yogurt. If you haven't tried yogurt before, I suggest the kids yogurt, like Trix. If you are trying to gain weight, your goal weight is the amount of grams of protein you need a day. Also, Google Harsh's Worksheet, and use a site like CronoMeter to count your calories, protein, etc. 1 My DeviantART: http://sociallyawkwardbrony.deviantart.com/ My FurAffinity: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/kawaiihusky/
(MARVEL) Blue Blood 991 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 I'm 5'6 and a half, and I'm somewhere around the 130 lb mark. I'm a twig, and I'm thinking of gaining muscle by working out to make up for some weight. 1 Second in Command of the Marvel Alliance!!!
Invincible 2,091 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Well, iv'e been called a scarecrow before. My height is 6"3, and my weight is 147lbs. I'm hyperactive, my high metabolism burns the food and it's energy in a very fast rate, so i don't really gain weight. 1 My OCs for Roleplay purposes: o Lit Fuse (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/lit-fuse-r6608) o Dust Devil (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/dust-devil-r7357)

DubWolf 17,264 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 My BMI is about 19-20 (I'm below average, not underweight). I don't mind it at all, but any more skinnier and I'd start to feel small and weak , though my height is about average. IceeBrony 251 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 If you're looking to add some weight, some body builders use GOMAD. Gallon Of Milk A Day (US Whole). It's a not a perfect solution, and often adds more fat than muscle. There is a less extreme version with only a Quart a day (QOMAD). That is a LOT of milk, and a lot of nutrients. Here's a decent article on it. http://www.jcdfitness.com/2010/04/gomad-gallon-of-milk-per-day-is-it-for-everyone/

Kay Dreamer 884 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 My BMI as of right this moment is 18.5, which is borderline-underweight. I don't have any idea how or why that happened, because while I've always been smallish, I'm not usually that skinny. I eat when I'm hungry, and with my fondness for good cheeses and wines, one would assume I should have the opposite problem. I think my newfound taste for more natural foods and lots of fresh vegetables has probably resulted in my shrinking. (Though since those things are good for me, I'm not going to stop eating them either. And I still eat a fair share of junk food anyway.) I don't look overly skinny though, and I'm hardly the kind of person to turn down food, so I'm not exactly worried about it. I'll start worrying if it becomes detrimental to my health... though considering I eat quite well, I'm just going to assume this is the weight my body is supposed to be. As long as you eat nutritiously, and you eat enough for your body to maintain adequate energy levels, you're probably fine. Everyone has different ideal weights, some heavy, some light. No matter what your weight, it you're starving yourself, there's a problem. Of course, if you want to 'bulk up', which I realise is something a lot of guys are concerned about, diets high in protein are supposed to encourage muscle growth. Don't overdo it, though. Some of those fad diets designed to put muscle on you can be outright dangerous. Just eat balanced meals, exercise, and let nature sort the rest out. 1 The Crystal Minstrel Pony Tumblr Kay Dreamer's Roleplay OC and Cast Character Archive
GammaDove 428 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 (edited) I'm like six feet and only way 130 despite that I eat half of the food in my home. Lactose-intolerance and a gallon of milk don't mix well Nuts and legumes then. Anything with a low weight and a high calorie content. Olives and avocados are pretty good. As to whether you NEED it or not... You are a bit underweight, but if it runs in your family, I'd be less concerned about it.

Fhaolan 4,484 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Ecch, but milk and me do not mix well, or dairy products in general. I think I may be a bit lactose-intolerant, but I can't be sure. Interestingly, my Dad and I both have problems with milk, but it's not technically lactose-intolerant. We can't deal with the various versions of 'milk' sold in stores, as they always taste sour to us and causes us to feel ill. However, we can drink raw milk straight from the farm just fine. Something during the pasteurization process modifies the milk in such a way that we can't handle it. Not saying this is what's going on with you, but it might be something to check. Any case, I was underweight growing up. By the time I was in University I was 6'2" and 150 lbs. However, that changed dramatically when I hit about 25-30. Now I'm on the other side of the divide and am overweight. Metabolism shifts are nasty. So if you're young, I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as you're not *deliberately* setting yourself up for being underweight or if you have an obvious eating disorder.

iceestarz 5,764 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Well I'm 16. 5'2" and weight like 102 lbs. although the lowest weight I've ever hit was 89 lbs, but that was due to surgery I had back in February. I lost my appetite, because well it was jaw surgery and I had to be on a liquid diet for 6 weeks. It took forever to get the weight back, since my appetite got really small. I literally only had like maybe 3 whole milkshakes for the first week after surgery. It was pretty bad. But I'm still pretty thin for my height, although I've always been like this. Kulstor 254 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 I'd guess I'm on the border of being 'normal' and underweight. Not sure of my current weight, but I am thin. Upper body wise especially. I've been doing some exercises and my upper body stays the same very thin size, but does gain in strength, the lower body muscles have responded a little in size increase. That's ok though. Not like I'm trying to get huge.
