Envy 6,169 September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 (edited) I am a big winter weather person. I couldn't care less about warm weather storms, unless they pose a threat, in which case I just hate them. Although I do like it cloudy, and when it's raining it's usually cloudy. lol Edited September 1, 2014 by Envy 3 Everything needs more woodwind! Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 Ah, I love a good stormy day; whether it's warm or wintery! Give me a nice steady rain shower with some light winds and a good mixture of thunder & lightning. Either that, or a nice blizzard is good. As long as we avoid derechos, floods, and ice storms; we're good! 2 Pathfinder I Sojourner I Corsair | Zu'hra I Autumn | Scarlet Willow | Gypsy | Silverthorn | Crystal Whisper | Radiant Historia | And many other OCs~ Matching signatures with mah Bestie MOONLIGHT <
skbl17 199 September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 I consider myself a weather geek, but mainly on the technical side. It shows in that if I had to choose a "best government agency" like I pick a "best pony", it would definitely be the National Weather Service, the website of which I visit no less than five times a day. I'm familiar with fronts, high/low pressure systems, storm structure, historic weather events (I know everyone remembers Hurricane Katrina, even if you weren't affected, but what about the great ice storm of January 1998 that absolutely crippled Quebec, eastern Ontario, and parts of the northern U.S.?), the difference between alert terminology [watch v. warning v. statement], weather radios, polygons, and mesocyclones. With regards to winter weather, I fully approve of snow, but I can live without the ice storms (We had one in February that was completely unrelated to the January 28 disaster).

Invincible 2,091 September 1, 2014 Share September 1, 2014 There's a stark beauty in the displays of harsh, natural weather. I like rainy and stormy weather, especially when i'm indoors. It gives off an illusion of safety which is easy to cling to. I'm not a big fan of warm weathers, but i'm always checking the forecast for rain during the winter, my favorite season. I enjoy walking through the rain wearing thick clothes and listening to melancholy music as the weather beats against my back, watching as the common people vacate the streets in search of shelter. It's as if for just a moment, the street is all mine - all the din and cacophony of mankind has been silenced and drowned away within nature's furies. I don't fear such harsh weather - i yearn for it. 3 My OCs for Roleplay purposes: o Lit Fuse (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/lit-fuse-r6608) o Dust Devil (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/dust-devil-r7357)

Until I saw page 32 I was totally like: I grew up being so passionate about the weather, my parents thought for sure that I'd end up being a meteorologist. LOL but when I took a meteorology class I knew it most certainly wasn't for me. Miles 2,512 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 My father used to be an amateur storm chaser (a long time ago)... but he told me some stories when I was a kid, and, from then on I had always had an interest in crazy weather. Just looking at the sky in awe, regardless of weather conditions, is amazing thing to me. But, one of my favorite things to look at is a storm front coming in.Kind of relevant, but at the same time, I take it to a stance where it's kind of irrelevant...I also really like listening to different kinds of tornado sirens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f60MzJBgzpc 4 ~ Rise And Rise Again, Until Lambs Become Lions ~

~SadisticFluttershy~ 779 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 Actually, ima copy and paste thats EXACTLY from my profile page. ------------------------------------------- I'm an on going storm chaser. I've studied Meteorology for almost 6 years, on and off so there are key things I'm missing. I'm a trained National Weather Service SKYWARN Storm Spotter. I've been chasing for 2 years. I've witnessed the most intense and insane weather events in history. I mostly chase storms by a screen. Which is my Dopplar Radar system; which consists of: GRLevel3, GR2 Analyst, and Radarscope. I'm a Lead/Head Radar Technician for a team called: Southern Style Storm Chasing. (SSSC). I've been with the team for almost 2 years. My goal in Meteorology is to help in the warning process. What storm chasers are about is that we are dedicated, caring people that want to help those in the path of dangerous weather. We put ourselves in the line of fire to save another persons life. Ever since I was 7 years old, I've had an interest in weather. It fascinates me like nobody's business. If I see even a popup storm, I get hyped up. Reminder that I live in Texas. We don't see too many storms during the summer. We mostly get our Tornado season in April and May, then it moves on to other states during the rest of the season. I was recently given a higher stress job on my team than I originally had. I literately have to put my guys(that are TRAINED) in the path of storms and put in position at the right time. That's a very stressful job and position that honestly, I don't wanna be in. I do it because I'm dedicated and I'd do anything to make sure that our chase is successful. -------------------------------------------------- In overall, what I do is REAL. Everything I do is real. I'm proud to do what I do now. 4 Thanks MiniKirby! It's soooooo awesome! "Enough Chitchat time is candy!".- Pinkie Pie. "Storm Chasing is a commitment. Gracefilly 117 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 (edited) I love following the weather, and have a couple of apps that I use daily. And here is a story of when I was in the semi truck with my husband. We were doing a two week tour of Texas, and had a tornado pass over the top of the truck. We were at a weight station when I saw the grass swirling around like what you see in storm chaser videos and I knew we had a problem. Then the man inside of the building looked out of the window and turned white as a sheet, while our truck started to sway back and forth. I think this will stick in my mind forever. PS- that tornado touched down about 3 miles from where we were. Vemillia Nightshade 2,247 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 I love weather as a whole. I watched the weather channel any chance I could get as I kid. Just the general knowledge of storms os fascinating to me. I learned a good chunk of the weather terminology before any of it was taught in my science classes. When weather was brought up in science class, I aced it like it was nothing. I have taken an interest in reading weather radar and I know what to look for when it comes to sheering of the winds that produce tornadoes. I have dedicated myself to the knowledge that I'd once use to help others keep track of the temperatures and and forecasts. I'm not a legit meteorologist myself, but I will always and forever love meteorology till I die. I do have a bit of a phobia of tornadoes touching down where I live but I've been getting better at facing that fear by watching developing super cells move across my area. It's a real beautiful sight. 2 "Love and Hate are two different sides of the same coin. Both are feelings that are indescribable.
