"They sorta asked me not to set fire to the forest again, so can't do it like that. But the fireworks display sounds like a looooot of fun. Never tried That before. Or well... I don't think so anyway. Not in the last month."

Dax smiled.  "Well, we could try it anyway - after all, I'll help out so you don't go... uhm, 'overboard'?  I figure since you know how to make 'em, we can get 'em ready & fire 'em off after sunset.  Maybe there's a celebration coming up that we could add the fireworks to?"

He relished the idea that the two of them could put on a display that the town would enjoy; he wasn't exactly considering whom he was speaking with...

"You know about big kabooms in the sky too? "

"Not in the sky, actually... but on the ground, so t'speak!  I could try to get us some dynamite from the Blackwater Mines; you could use the black powder inside 'em to make your fireworks even better, couldn't you?"

Dax was a bit uncertain of whether he could get his hooves on any dynamite at all - but he wasn't about to simply let Blitz do all the work here.

"Whaddya say?"

@,

rune jumped back, a little startled by the sudden wailing. "hey, hey, now, your good!" he said, trying to calm him, "who told you i was gonna hurt you?"   he didnt approach him, but merely sat down, and gestured for the cat to come to him. "i can fix that mask of yours if you want me to." he went for a friendly smile.

Melke hesitated for a while, his sobs softening. Then there was a dark flash, a vibe of dark magic, and then Melke slowly turned around with a new mask on all of a sudden.

"If... you could fix it, it would be nice..." Melke said softly, barely audible behind his new mask. From the voice, it is clear that he was a little worn out from what he did.

As Cresent reentered the kitchen with out his work vest still on and a rather large coin sack in his muzzle placing it on the kitchen table he began to poor out the coins and began counting Cresent was silent for a bit focusing on counting. He sighed in his lack of luck today and swallowing his pride he began to count and organizing the pile into stacks of ten bits with his hooves and snout.

After hearing what the Guard said, he replied still looking at the bits  "im glad you jumped in when you did honestly, I didn't have my gauntlet on me if things esculated pluse I hate fighting and if im correct on your helm and the medels"

he paused going silent again double checking the small stacks then said looking up

"your no stranger to combat" cresent finished doing his best not to have any ill double meaning but the helmit the gurad was wearing to an avrege pony, would have been intimidating but to cresent it was as more of a chapter in a series of stories. Marked by the guards helm being the cover of the book and body language the text within the book.

He was debating on trying to listen to the guards blood after he said that but he also didn't know if the guard had blood magic in him in case he did. Deciding against it he double checked the bits again and math at the bits in front of him.

'Curse that vendor' thought the bat as he looked at the table in front of him.

"I hope this isn't a case of over taxing me on the cart like this. I mean I get how I don't know much of the farming world but I think 600 would get him a lot more then a cart and honestly the sooner I can get this settled the better" said cresent. now looking at the guard

"Why do I get the feeling this was a bad idea?" Angel softly murmurs to herslf as she picks through the dense undergrowth of the Everfree forrest. Her mother, Lily told her she should never go into the forrest as it was full of Timberwolves, Windegos, and other things that like to steal little fillies in the middle of the night. She wasn't even sure what compelled her to be there to begin with.

Angel's day was rather dull up to that point and not to her liking. School was more of the same and her friends had all slacked off and had to go home right away to finish their school work. She'd already explored every part of ponyville any normal filly would think of, as well as a few other areas she knew she'd be in trouble if she was caught in. She flutters her wings a little both to look bigger to whatever is out there and to use a little of her energy up as well before she went home.

She was cautiously but excitedly bounding across a small open field when she thought she saw a small building in the distance. "That's strange, mamma told me nopony lived out here..that i'd want to run into at least." Angel shivered a little in fear as she entered a more shadowy area. "Hmmm" She said out loud as she jumped up in a tree to get a better look. The ground around her started to change, and not in anyway she was used to. it was full of pock marks and holes. She jumped down carefully making sure she didn't fall into one she couldn't get out of.

She approached the door carefully and knocked a couple of times, no answer. She hovered a little in front of one of the windows but it was too dark to see inside properly with nobody home. She thought for a few moments to try to open the door but gets too scared. Her eyes light up mischeviously as she gets an idea and she jumps up on to the roof and crouches down low, shaking a little in antecipation and fear both to see who lives out this far.

*sniff sniff* "I smell fresh pine. Quite a bit of it." Priestess said. She stuck her tongue out for a moment. "Practically taste it too. I also thought I heard somepony yelling something. I gauge it's not relatively far. Wanna check out the devasation?" She asked.

"okay, ill be sure to." he smiled. "and while i fix it...how about you tell me a little about yourself?" he gently took the mask using levitation, and started to mend it with a simple spell.

"I could give you something more challenging than shades of mere beasts, but they would not enjoying hearing that I went overboard and actually hurt somepony, and honestly I have little interest in doing so either."

The flame in her eyes toned down and the different forms (sliced, smashed or intact) melted and rushed towards her, gathering in a dense ball the size of her head that floated in front of her as she eyed Cubus.

"in another time it was different. back when somepony fighting on the side you do would make me get ordered to do something more drastic."

Before Cubus could react, the shadowy ball exploded towards him, expanding like a giant carpet made of thick impenetrable purple shades, unfolding and grasping around the area he was in until, after about three seconds, there was only a small opening, like the exit to a tunnel, that was still rapidly closing. It would not have helped is he had moved either, as the cocoon or what you would call it he was currently being placed in. Right before it did close down on the last glimmer of hope and all he was left with was a turf battle with the odds against him, it stopped though, and with a small shake broke apart into dust that vanished more or less as it fell on the ground.

Vivid looked at him with a slightly tired look going over her eyes now. The beasts had taken some magic, but combined with this last surge it had all together been a bit taxing, and she would frankly prefer a minor break from that now rather than keep playing games with smoke and more or less harmless pets.

"But it is a new age, and my masters from then are gone. The powers they bestowed me with to use for darkness is my own now, and as the couple that got me out made sure I understood, this is a more peaceful time where it isn't an acceptable thing to destroy. Why else do you think I simply played with smoke after all?"

A smile was still present on her face as she said this, awaiting his response and how he would react to things. Poorly likely, as some paranoia and mistrust were still present around these days, but they would see after all. Sometimes, you could end up surprised.

"..." he merely looked around, with a bored expression. granted, he had been put in checkmate, and he knew he wouldn't have been able to get out in time. she could kill him, most likely, on a whim.

but she wouldn't do that. "...impressive. a magic unlike iv ever seen. and coming from me, thats quite the bragging right."

he sheathed his sword, apparently now interested. "tell me...just how old are you?"

"It felt like it was nearby, so I guess we'll see soon."

It was a bit odd that hey hadn't felt any further footsteps though to be honest. It was odd for something massive enough to make the earth shake to just take one step, then not be bothered for a while longer.

Unless... No, it better not be. She had fallen for the *Tree crashing* Too many times now in this dang forest. She swore, those things sounded more hollow intimidating than they had the right to be.

caliber was walking towards the sound. apparently, it didn't register to him the fact that it might be a dud.

'cant wait to see how fancy she is with a sword...but then again, i cant set my expectations too high. she is wounded at the moment, after all...' he thought.

Seamore sees the black and grey ponies approaching. "Hi. I'm sorry about all the noise, I just finished all my work. I've got everything we need for a campfire if you'd like to take a break from whatever it is you're doing and roast a few marshmallows. I've got S'mores ingredients as well, and the fire pit is already set up." He brushes aside some leaves revealing stones set in a circle on the ground. There was scorching which showed that this fire pit was used before. There were also logs on either side which were clearly set up as seating.

The tree was still on the ground where it had landed, but that could wait, he was too busy meeting what could possibly be new friends. "Oh, right! I almost forgot to introduce myself! Name's Seamore Sandwich, some call me Seamore, others call me S'more for short." He wanted to ask what they were doing out here, out of curiosity, but he decided to wait until they were a bit more relaxed, sitting by a fire.

"What is there to know about me? I am just a cat, living in the forest." Melke replied quietly as he looked at the pony fixing his mask using magic. Interested to learn more about the magic in this world, he kept staring at the mask as it is getting mended. "Can.. I have my mask back soon...? I am getting tired..."

@@Randimaxis,

Blitz grinned at him with a sort of mad stroke going over her eyes.

I Love dynamite! Kinda weird to make, but I got a few... Ooh, perhaps you can tell me if they work right then? Weird things in the forest to make stuff from. Like, Really weird, so sometimes ponies say it's not exactly the same. We can go find some other ones after that and have a real explosive bit of fun if they're not good enough, huh? huh? huh?"

She jumped a little in place, but turned around and went with haste towards the door to the stone hut - her workshop - ignoring where she technically lived, which was the barely patched up shack next to it. Some ponies found it weird she had more focus on her workshop being well done, but she couldn't really see why. She didn't sleep that much and the roof wasn't leaking, so... Eh?

Oh well, time to think of that later. She had Dax to have some fun with now, and to make fireworks with! This day could only get better if... if...

Blitz came to a screeching halt and looked up at the roof of her hut with glee plastered over her face. It had just gotten better.

@@Fire Lily,

"Yey, More visitors. Hello guest."

Blitz rose up awkwardly on her hind legs and waved with both front hooves for a few seconds towards the one on her roof before she had to plant her legs in the ground again to not fall.

She couldn't completely see who was there, but the colour against the stone of what she could was a bit hard to miss. Unless you didn't look that was, and she almost hadn't, but sometimes she had to make sure that there wasn't something or sompony sitting on her roof. Usually it was birds, but there had been a few times when it had been weirder things or ponies, so sometimes she checked to not get jumpscared by whoever or whatever could be there.

Sure, it sometimes got her to walk into the door, but eh, nopony was perfect, right?

You'd be surprised how much dealing with those things prepares you for the active duties."

It wasn't widely known as such that there was a bit of a gambling issue with some of the Night Guard, but in the right circles, or to those with good ears near one of them circles, there was a lot of information to gather about that sort of thing. Still, there was also the outsiders they gambled with at times, but when it came to most of the issues - including the collection business - most of it tended to be within their own ranks.

Brittle gulped a little. She knew what she had to answer now, but... No, Briar had told her she was safe, and there had been some nice ponies in the area so... Perhaps it was okay? Maybe?

"T-They say I'm a uhm.. Change-ling."

A few had said that at this point. Storm Shine was the best example of somepony that had said it in a nice way, whilst the other pony that had mentioned it had been a mean lady that had looked at her like she was dirt and had almost said that too. She had no idea what the problem was, but apparently that was something that wasn't good.

"B-but I don't... I don't k-know the other things... I s-sort of uhm... I'm sorry."

She didn't even need to answer to prove that he was right. She was scared, nervous and paranoid for some reason, though she hadn't said anything about why it was yet.

"Walking is uhm... I'it sounds okay..."

It took a minute or so, but eventually she started to move towards the other pony and prepared to follow him, though still at a small distance. The only pony she liked to be near was Briar, and that was because she knew he was protecting her from bad things happening. For all others... Well, the road was long.

"cresent like the moon" said the batpony smiling at the irony of it.

The guard and gambling not surprising the more he thought about it, guarding was one thing but for down time it could be hard to have fun properly.

"I have it all laid out here in front of me if you want to check it before we head back out if we take to long I think he'll try something. That or I'm just paranoid of-" Cresent was cut off when he herd a loud crack followed by an louder boom from within the forest. Cresent flew up from the chair kicking it away drawing his battle gauntlet on his for hoof at the ready stance with the dark blade out. Once he landed gauntlet still armed up he caught himself and realized what he just did.

The blade seethed itself back in the gauntlet, as Cresent moved the chair back up awkwardly, doing his best to find an stable answer. "sorry...I'm probably something else then paranoid" he smiled trying to make it look like he wasn't on pins and needles as he focused on folding in his wings to his sides

there was another awkward silence "what about your name?"  he asked the Guard

@@cwhip9,

The guard stood motionless and watched the bat pony's reaction. Considering the noise before he hadn't found it right to go after Crescent, and had in fact slightly winced himself. It was more of a reflex, just like he was sure Crescent's response were.

"Good reaction time, speed and holding in place instead of rushing forward or attacking without sense... You have potential Crescent."

The guard moved slightly closer whilst a small smile went over his muzzle.

"My name is Stargazer, and that -"

His eye went down to the bits laid out, quickly counting through them. It was a skill he learned the hard way as a collector amongst the guards, as being too slow meant they could change around to make it seem like more than there actually was. And when that extra part came out of his own paycheck, it wasn't something he had wanted to suffer under eternally.

"- Looks to be the correct amount. Beyond that, you're right, we should get going."

He turned around and wandered outside again where he took flight and gave room for Crescent to exit the building whilst some of the words the pony had said wandered through his mind. Mainly, it was the notions of paranoia, and if he would even classify it as that considering what the vendor had been like for the time being and the look he had had in his eyes back in town.

As the saying went after all: *Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean ponies aren't out to get you.*

@@Randimaxis@@Blitz Boom,

Angel was crouched as low as she could be on the roof. She had her head poked up just barely high enough to see over to the ground below. Off in the distance she heard a couple of small voices and thought to herself "They only sound a little older than me, they can't be that bad..right?" She still shivered a little and not because of the cold. What if the told her mom she was out here, after she was told never to even think about it? A loud boom off in the distance confirms her fears when she suddenly hears someone yelling at her from below when she was looking away.

It felt like she had eaten the large boulder she had passed by earlier. Silently kicking herself for being so foolish as to get distracted instead of paying attention to why she was here, she quietly called out down to the other ponies, at least one of which had wings like hers, even if they seemed more..attached? Angel brushed that thought away quickly, she had bigger things to worry about; "Umm...hi" she managed to while trying her best not to land on her face when she jumped down. Angel was good at ups, not so much downs.

Suddenly aware of the fact that she was a yellow filly in a forest of dark green and any friends she could make might keep her out of trouble for time being she decided to introduce herself properly "Hi, I'm Angel. I didn't mean to intrude." 'Or for you to see me.' but she keeps that second part to herself. She was in the middle of the nicest dream when all of a sudden she heard a loud boom comming from the direction of the everfree forrest. "Well that's a great way to start my day." She mumbled to herself groggily as she rolled out of bed. She almost never went out into the forest, but even she couldn't pass up finding out what in Equestria was going on out there. She quickly brushed her mane and ran outside, then silently cursing herself seeing the time of day ran back in and grabbed a light colored jacket to cover her bat pony wings. There was no hiding her eyes but hopefully nopony would notice.

She reopened her door and stepped out into the sun, her pupils narrowing into small slits as she took all of the back roads out of town. She knew it might decress her chances of whatever that was still being there, but at least she wouldn't have to explain her appearances to anypony else.

Finally nearing the clearing where the noise came from she saw a small group of ponies already gathered there. Dusk to a very deep breath to steady her nerves, hoping she won't just get chased out like usual and approached the group. staying near the fringes though hoping to find out what's going on without attracting too much attention to herself.

Dax had been all for getting a fireworks display together, and was kinda looking forward to seeing what Blitz could come up with, and then... somepony else showed up.  A filly, at that.

Dax froze; he'd only ever dealt with his little brother Oglevy before, and that colt was a class A BRAT.  Not only that, but this was a stranger that might recognize his family name - aaaaaand just like that, Dax retreated inwardly again.  Not that he was adverse to making new friends; he just wasn't certain what to expect here.

He shied back, but did his best to try to stand strong... he was still obviously at least somewhat afraid, but he wouldn't run... he hoped.  He felt like a child himself, afraid of a child - but thanks to his rotten baby brother, he knew what kind of mischief could be had.  He waited tensely to see what came next.

With an uncomfortable look she adjusted her eyes to be as close to the normal round shape as she could and hoped nobody asked about the lightweight jacket she had on in spite of the heat from the fire.

"Oh thanks, I was just wondering what the noise was earlier, it kind of pushed me out of bed. My name is Flutter Dusk, but everyone just calls me Dusk." "Lets do it!" She was about to bound off, but then suddenly stopped and looked herself over. "Hold up, I need finish something before we go. Give a minute!"

She took a small bite into her wrist, put the tip of her tail into her mouth, wetting & twisting the hairs into a satisfactory point,  before pulling it out & slathering the tip in the wound, then writing it on the strip, retracing the characters on it. She began to quickly mumble the chants under her breath:

Ketsueki no tame ni inorimasu. Shinku no tame ni inorimasu. Kōzui no tame ni inorimasu. Jigoku de watashitoisshoni arukimasu.

She finished both chant & calligraphics on the thin paper strip. She picked it up by her teeth, and with a whip of her head, tossed it into the air, and stuck it to her forehead. She could feel the talisman take effect.

The change was instant and the cinnamon red pony with her messy red mane, black stockings patterns on her hooves & her bushy tail bounded out from behind the tree.

"Kay, let's roll!"

@@Fire Lily,

@@Randimaxis,

Blitz didn't waste any time once the filly had introduced herself. Quickly as she could she had closed the gap and taken her into a hug. It was a sort of habit with her. Or disease if you asked some, but that was what that was. Right now,. she was too gleeful to really care.

"Angel? Like Fluttershy's cute little bunny!"

She giggled a little at the end before letting go of the filly. She liked to hug A lot, but some ponies didn't like when it lasted and said it was uhm... Clingy. That was the word, right.

"It's really nice to meet you Angel. I'm Blitz, and that's my new friend Dax."

She jumped a little in place while she turned around and pointed towards Dax that had started to look silly again. Or nervous. it was hard to tell sometimes with other ponies really. Perhaps she should try and learn more about that at a later time? Oh well, better spin around and talk to the second new friend of today.

"And sure there's ponies out here. I see bat ponies sometimes fly by, and Zecora, and oh, me. Right here. It's really quiet too after the funny looking wolves didn't come by the play anymore."

She closed a little nearer and half-whispered with a glimmer in her eye.

"They didn't like the taste of the kaboomies."

With that she lifted her front legs to her mouth and started gigling behind her hooves, thinking about the time the Timberwolves had been around last. She didn't really get why some ponies were scared of them though, they were big fun tree-puppies. And they put themselves together again! That had been So cool.

"Well frankly, Caliber and I had hoped the noise was from a large predator so we could have a training round. Turns out it was just a tree slamming into the ground."

Last turned to face the newcomer. She had seen Seamore, and she'd get to him more in time, but for now she wanted to see the pony who either had a thing with being cold blooded since she needed a jacket, or were hiding something on her back like wings. Frankly neither of them spelled troublemaker, and she looked alright, so eh, no big deal there she guessed.

After a few seconds of starring at Dusk with her narrow, ice-blue right eye looking searchingly at her, she turned slightly around and walked towards the fire.

It wasn't dark enough to use her closed eye with the scar going over it unless she wanted blinding, cranial-shattering pain, but not all that light so that she could see everything normally either. So for now she was just gonna assume that this pony wasn't wearing a hidden blade somewhere,a nd if she was proven wrong... Well, she had her katana strapped to her side and knew how to use it. Though, hopefully it wouldn't come to that, and she was too disappointed that it had turned out there wasn't something sizeable to go after here to feel in the mood to try and rile something up right now. Perhaps another day.

"You are immortal?"

Vivid rose an eyebrow, apparently genuinely surprised over what she had just heard.

"And 900 years of memory, yet perhaps a longer life before that? You wouldn't have to have taken into possession a cursed object for your price then, would you? Immortality is not something us ponies are often born with, and for those who wants it enough the options tends to be... Taxing."

"Excellent. Now, I believe it was somewhere this way..."

Briar started to move there in his normal, slightly slow walking speed whilst thinking about what he had noticed before with Priestess.

Not the change, as he could not point to a massive enough difference from what the wind that flowed gently in the air said to not have it within a certain degree of error there were with it, and he obviously couldn't just look at her, but he had heard something running through the air, and then the smell... He could not avoid smelling the blood, and especially not now that he was nearer, but... No, he wasn't going to mention it.

For all he knew, something fell, hit her and she didn't want to seem weak, so it was frankly best of him to simply ignore it and moving onwards towards the sound and vibration from before. Though, what exactly it was... Well, they would find out soon enough.

Angel hesitantly accepted the hug, it wasn't something she was completely used to from random ponies, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world either. She noted the other pony smelled vaguly of something burned and sulfuric but decided to not mention it for time being. "I guess you could say that. I've only ever really seen them around a couple of times after school. Bigger ponies scare me." She adds the last part with a very small look at Dax. How he looked at her wasn't very reassuring but she didn't feel quite in danger..though the rock is still sitting in her stomach.

"Those don't seem very normal to me...or safe." She said quite timidly. She'd only seen the zebra once and the fact that she didn't live in town told her all that she needed to know. "what do you mean kaboomies? I've never heard of those."

She looked back at Dax still concerned by his reaction to her. She was well aware of being somewhere she shouldn't be, but when this other pony accepted her with hugs his reaction concerned her greatly.

Dusk felt someone staring at her and the fur on her back prickled in fear. Thankful for the jacket she wore she turned around to try to see who was looking at her. Suddenly out of nowhere she found what she was looking for. A pony with a very bright eye just kind of staring. As soon as she saw them the other pony turned away towards the fire.

"maybe this was a bad idea after all and I should've stayed in bed." She thought to herself while turning back to Seymore, the other pony didn't say anything about her eyes or jacket, so she figured she might be ok for right now, her cover wasn't totally blown at least but she wasn't about to let her guard down just yet, or maybe even at all. She shivers again remembering how that pony looked at her but tries to push it out of her mind.

"Hello Dusk. I'm not sure if you heard me before when I told them, my name is Seamore." Now addressing the whole group he says, "If anypony would like to make a S'more, help yourself, there's plenty of marshmallows for everyone. I would recommend using the cinnamon graham crackers with a peanut butter cup, although there are many options." He whispers to Dusk in a tone that conveys his acceptance of her, "I can tell you're a Bat Pony and you're trying to keep it a secret. It's okay, your secret is safe with me."

Seamore sits down and starts roasting a marshmallow, being very careful not to burn it, holding it at the side of the fire so it doesn't get too smokey. "Again, I'm sorry for the noise, that tree hit the ground louder than I thought, usually the branches soften the impact but one side was a bit light on branches."

@@Seamore Sandwich,

Dusk looks at seamore both confused and with straight fear "i...um...how did you know?" She mumbles under her breath. Her initally question of what they hay is going on still left unaswered but going off of the abundance of food and a fire she figures it can't be all bad.

Dusk sits beside him and tries to ignore the heat from the fire but looking into it while she cooks her marshmellow means that her eyes return to their natural slits. She stares at the ground in between making sure her marshmellow isn't burning and puts it between two crackers and eats it still not looking at anyone directly hope to not attract any more attention

Seamore whispers in response, "I saw the way your eyes responded to the light of the fire. I've been in business for a few years selling wood to many different types of ponies, and some other creatures as well." He pulls his marshmallow away from the fire, it's cooked a perfect golden brown. Then he puts the marshmallow on a peanut butter cup between two cinnamon graham crackers and takes a bite.
