Of course, it makes absolutely zero sense as far as the show's canon is concerned. Sunset Shimmer is not in the same age group as Diamond Tiara at all, and she is unlikely to have ever met the Equestrian version of Diamond Tiara, having been banished from Equestria when Diamond was still a tiny foal (or perhaps not even born).

 

But if they had been in Miss Cheerilee's class together, I have the feeling that they would have got along just fine.

So, I read a fanfic about involving our dearest Sunset Shimmer. It was featured in EQD and reading the story, I was piqued. So I read it and finished all the available chapter there is. The backstory it created was so tense and sad that it made sense for Sunset to escape Equestria and jumped into the human, thus I accept this as a canon. I'd recommend y'all to read it. Just be careful, mindf*ck can occur since I read the fic after RR. (It's important.)

 

The fic is in fimfiction and the title is "Twilight Falls, Sunset Dawns." Be prepared for feels.
