A "what if" scenario? I'm surprised MLP hasn't done that yet in the show/EQG--the comics recently did this--since it does make for an interesting premise that can spawn tons of fan-related content.

Starlight did see a photo of Sunset in Friendship is Magic #50 though it was more to do with a slight cameo for Sunset and for Starlight to deal with the orderly machinations of Accord. I am surprised Twilight hasn't mentioned Sunset to Starlight--or anyone else who knows of the former to the latter.

I think they clearly stated this in the first movie. Spoken up by fluttershy. "Sunset Shimmer will rule this school untill we all graduate" attleast for me. it's implying she's the same age in that universe.

If Shimmer was crowned princess three years running she would be a senior, whereas the rest of the mane 6 seem to be sophomores.

When was 3 years in a row said? I don't recal hearing it in any movie? New episodes? Also I still stand their the same age due to what Fluttershy said. Also the reason of friendship games. Wouldn't there be different age classes competing instead of just 1 class?

 

Also stated in the first movie. Twilight and Sunset would be the same age. Quoted from Celestia. "They where her students at the same time"

As Nightmare Muffin said, Twilight never brought up Shining Armor to her friends until that episode so,

 

she probably doesn't feel the need to bring up Sunset Shimmer either at this point.

then, she would use that knowledge to reassemble Sunset's teenage army to take over Equestria.

The old Starlight would most likely have thought along those lines while the current one would probably be curious as to what an entirely different world could be like. She would also need to experiment a little when it comes to walking around on two legs rather than four hooves as she has gotten used to doing.

Well, we do not know that for sure.

She could have done a year twice. Since she is not from that universe I could imagine that she had trouble at least in her first year, even if she is smart (and if it was only because of her terrible handwriting).
