Equal Sign Cutie Marks = What?

Everyone in this town is the same and equal with no defining traits or anything that makes them unique. Pretty self-explanatory.

Could be just a placeholder.
Or maybe that pony's talent is making oreos :v

That'd be fine...if everyone in that scene didn't have the same cutie mark.

Maybe that's why they needed a placeholder. So that they don't have to think of all the cutie marks and save it for later.

After all, it IS just a sketch :v

What? Twilight Sparkle specifically points out the fact that everyone has an equal sign for a cutie mark in that scene! These cutie marks are an important part of the plot, not a placeholder.

Oh

Well I didn't know that :v but again. It might be some evil plot made by an evil villain to make everyone talentless and stuff. It's the only thing my intuition can think of right now

To be serious, is no placeholder or anything, the Mane6 noticed the cutiemarks to be the same. I believe it will be an anti-communism episode

All are created equal, all are the same, and those who dare to be different are <insert something bad here>

Heh, even the whole village is nothing but two rows of houses, aka equal sign from above. Dunno about you guys, but their smiles look very, very forced there.

When I first saw that, my first thought was that there was a villain changing everyone's special talent so that they were equal (perhaps equally talentless) and the Mane 6 would go find him/her and go defeat him/her.

I definitely believe it has something to do with the ponies all being generalized and having their individuality crushed. Kind of like what modern education systems do to kids.

There will definitely be some kind of moral about tolerating differences and respecting uniqueness and individuality. In a way, the focus on self-confidence and self-image in several episodes last season as well as the opening lyrics of the Season 4 finale's final song foreshadow this:

"Each one of us has something special

that makes us different, that makes us rare.

We have a light that shines within us

that we were all meant to share."

Even Pinkie Pie didn't like their smiles. If Pinkie Pie doesn't like a smile, something is seriously wrong.

Option 1: Placeholder mark.

Option 2: He's a moronic social justice warrior who would have probably served Tirek because "A magic-less Equestria is an equal Equestria".

Option 3: He does math.

Option 4: He's The Equalizer.

Option 5: Communist pony.

Option 6: "All things must be equal or be destroyed. No pony can rule over another or show individuality. There is no individuality. there is no Self. There is only The Herd."

Option 1 is disproven.

Option 2 is very unlikely

Option 3 is also very unlikely

Option 4 to 6 are very possible though.

maybe his special talent is making thing parallel.... Makes sense right?

Does that mean if he walked past Applejack and Apple Bloom, he'd try to "Make her compact", so "They'd be parallel?"

Those who have finished Korra season 1 should know that Amon, if he ever get ponified, his talent would never be 'setting things equal'. He's... onto a different purpose

It's very likely that whatever the deal might be, some people are gonna be reaaaaaaally upset that the writers didn't tackle the real world equality crisis as they liked :derp:

It's Communism. Somehow this episode will teach children the dangers of Communism and everything. I don't know if Little Girls should be taught about it though. Basically the episode features a Communist society where everyone is unusually happy and are treated as equal.

Or the alternative theory(Which is more likely) is it is like the Doctor Who episode ''The Happiness Patrol''. Where the planet is unnaturally happy. And there is an evil killer robot that makes poisoned candy. There is a patrol that eliminates anyone who is not happy. So It's either Commie or Doctor Who.

The only victim in graffiti is the architect. Graffiti is not a crime.
