gaming What can save the Wii U?

No because it isn't factual, at least according to NPD. Late summer year over year announcement of a 60% increase in console movement does not equal "outselling the One".

Ah, understood totally! Thanks! :)

But the ps3 actually had bloody third party support, Nintendo have no third party support what so ever, the Wii U won't make a comeback like the ps3 or 3ds, nobody knows that it is a new system, because of Nintendo's shitty marketing, society think the Wii U is an accessory for the Wii.

If Xbone passes the Wii U in sales by the end of this year, then that is pathetic, Nintendo need to wake up and advertise the bloody console.

Who do you guys know that will buy a Wii U anytime soon?, I doubt you know anyone that is thinking about purchasing the system, they probably want to buy a ps4 or Xbone, Wii U isn't going to last this gen, it is on it's last leg, if nothing helps it this holiday season, then the Wii U will crash and burn, Nintendo will have to make a new system, or they will continue losing money.

*Is getting a Wii-U this month*

*Has thrice as many games to get on the Wii-U than on the PS4 or Xbone*

*Will personally save the Wii-U if I have to*

I'm starting to wonder is there is something cultural (Japanese business views?) that I am missing here, because Sony did the same thing but in reverse to the Vita. They offered the same games on both platforms giving no effort to build a exclusive library that would entice new users and increase adoption rates.

I don't know... There is no trend whatsoever regarding this and Nintendo, so I'd assume not. Some speculate that SSB4 was originally planned to be a 3DS title but then became a dual system title to help the Wii U sales.

Of course, there is no basis whatsoever behind that. lol

One guy buying the Wii U this holiday, hooray -_-

How are you going to save the Wii U?, it's all up to Nintendo's marketing team, but they are doing nothing, they aren't marketing the system, and if they don't market it, nobody will know that it exists.

By buying it, talking it up and getting other people to want more games on it. A lot of people don't pay attention to more than a few games on a console so they need people like me to direct them to games they wouldn't normally even look at. Those of us who know better have a faux-obligation to direct other people to things they don't know about that would vastly improve their experience.

Your doomsaying is exactly the opposite of what the Wii-U needs but you seem insistent on continuing it. People like you are part of the problem.

Hey, I like the Wii U, but I don't know what will save the thing, it's been out for two years and has only sold 7 million units, that is terrible, sure, the Wii U could pull a 3ds and make a complete 180, but the 3ds actually had marketing, the Wii U doesn't, maybe amiibo will save the Wii U, strange things happen all the time.

I don't think those games will boost sales, star fox and Metroid are no where near being as popular as Mario and legend of Zelda.

I think you're underselling the popularity of those franchises by quite a margin. A few posts ago you asked who anyone knew that was going to be buying a Wii-U soon. Well, I can tell you that once the new Star Fox and Zelda titles announced at E3 are released, I will be buying one. All it'll take for me, personally, is a new Zelda, a new Smash Bros and a new Star Fox to sell me on a new Nintendo console.

Everyone's different in this regard, and will be swayed by different titles. But the fact remains that the Wii-U's launch titles have been anything but appealing. New Super Mario Bros. Wii-U? Whoop-de-shit. Wind Waker HD? Sorry, not gonna pay full-price for a prettier version of a game I already own. All the 3rd party crap? Yeah...explain to me why I'd play any of that on the Wii-U when I could get it for PC.

Bottom line, it takes console-exclusive IPs to push console sales. Especially new entries in wildly popular franchises. Had there been a new Zelda, Star Fox and Smash Bros. at launch, I would've gladly dumped $400+ into Nintendo's lap.

I thought the wii had a lot of potential, especially with a Starfox game. Just using the motions of the wii-mote to activate boost, u turn, and turning the mote in a quick motion for a barrel roll...Yeah...Nintendo missed a golden opportunity there. They could still do a decent job on the wii u, but I just don't see it happening. That, Metroid, and Zelda would be the only games to save it (not for long though). They sold out to family friendly games which isn't so bad if it wasn't ALL THAT THEY WERE MAKING!!! *eye twitch*

Sorry. I love Nintendo. :( And they've done a lot of disappointing me here lately.

I see, I guess I was wrong then, different strokes for different folks it seems, I'm cool with that, maybe those games will save the Wii U, who knows, we will see soon.

They are making a new star fox though.

Nintendo disappoint me all the time, but I still love them, I didn't really like the Wii, that was a disappointment to me, but I like the Wii U, I think the Wii U is what the Wii should have been.

Well, at least Nintendo doesn't dump garbage on us as hard as Sony for the Vita. That system gets like...no love. I actually look forward to Monster Hunter Frontier for the Wii U, but that's just because I own no ps4.

Also, Mario games would do way better if that wasn't the only big name title Nintendo put out. They're starting to bore me at this point. :(

Marketing < my ability to avoid commercials. This isn't the 90's during the heyday of Sega screams closing out commercials. Word of mouth and SEO rule the roost when it comes to the non hardcore fan.

The Wii U will likely have a shorter practical lifespan than previous consoles. It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo missed the mark, but with their IP's they will survive just fine in the long run.

SSB4 (or SSB5, depending on how you look at it.), The new Zelda... Hell, probably a Majora's Mask remake on the Wii U would sell more! Star Fox and Metro is could help as well...

MAJORA'S MASK!!! MAJORA'S MASK!!! I WANT IT!!!

I really like the Zelda games. Ocarina of Time was a hit. They need to make Majora's Mask for the Wii U for sure since Ocarina of Time was made for the 3ds (though a 3ds Majora also would be a great bonus).

I just hope the Wii U becomes profitable, and I want legend of Zelda Wii U to sell over 5 million copies, well, I hope that happens.

but what about their next console?, how will they bring back their fans?, how will they win over third parties again?

why are you not getting it?

Bayonetta looks interesting. I just wish every girl wasn't sold out. :( I know guys like the eye candy, but I would love to see a girl with decency, not all the time (I understand a LOT of guys like the eye candy), just every now and then...They keep selling out all the decent females, and as a girl, it makes me sad. Not every girl is the same, but the game industry is making it that way.

The Boulder is awesome, btw.

Oh, this may not be a popular opinion, but I think I would buy a wii u (if I didn't already own one) just for a new Pokemon Snap. With the wii u gamepad. I would love to turn and try to snap a picture of that flash stepping Greninja. I'd love to see all of the regions and pokemon.

I don't care about the Wii U's existence, honestly.

I haven't seen much that's neat, except a tablet... oh wait, we have had tablets for ages.

The Wii U is just a  gimmick-riddled tablet.
