If Hasbro let the fandom create professionally made media

Just imagine Hasbro letting the entire fanbase create MLP content professionally, whether it be animations such as shorts, TV shows, and movies (theatrical, direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray, and made-for-TV), published literature and comics, video games that would be distributed by game publishers, music that would be signed by record labels, and radio dramas that would actually be on the radio.

EDIT: Also, artists being able to make MLP art professionally.

How do you think all that would turn out? Would it be a step in the right direction for the fanbase or would it be an absolute disaster?

I think it would result in Hasbro completely abandoning MLP because it's no longer profitable.

...and then have us bronies immortalize it.

"FiM was on the air for 5 seasons, and then Hasbro canned it. They never really gave it a chance! Never Forget."

There would still need to be some form of control, otherwise you'd have that guy who married the Twilight plush writing all the episodes about him and Chris Chan saving the day with sonichu. It would be nice to see Hasbro ease up on the animation C&D's, but I could never see them just giving full control to the fandom.

Now I'm imagining FiM devolving into nothing but a bunch of terrible memes crapped out by the collective unconscious of the brony fandom.

Did you you guys hear about the new feature length epic about Lyra wanting hands? It's gonna be awesome!

You forgot the OCXMane 6 epic length 4 hour movies, complete with adult scenes.

Thy would probably just recruit those Bronies, or let them create stuff under the condition of labeling their works with Hasbro's name as the source of content/characters and stuff.

Well the thing is, this fandom can have great artists, musicians and voice actors, but not that good of writers. This might also mean that the bronies who have no sense for what is appropriate to be shown will be shown. Say hello to the newest mlp book being a saucy one or the newest coloring book being the pony version of those saucy magazines.

AS much as we think we have some sort of entitle ment to the show and the art we make, it's not going to happen. While yes fanart alls under fair use to sell(as far as I know) its highly unloicky hasbro would hire bronies to do professional work. Keep in mind Hasbro is a toy company, they dont care for quality they want money.

I'd commit Seppuku. Seriously? That's like letting a 4-year old pilot an f-15. How long before brony authors and artists start making self-inserts?

Or what if hentai artists got involved.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

To a degree, I kind of like the idea. Some people may see this as a lack of quality control or fan pandering, but this is professionals we're talking about, not fanfic writers who shove every fandom cliché down our throat.

Speaking of which, I think that the reason some people make fan animation is they want to get a career on animation. They don't worry too much about the story, so because of that, they take their time and effort to learn and create something great. It's also kind of silly to assume that there won't be any quality control in their work, considering that if they want to be an animator one day, they will definitely know about the essentials, including quality control.

Want to see something with no quality control? Go watch My Little Pony: Over Two Rainbows. This is animation done wrong.

I think I remember one instance where Hasbro hired a brony.

If we are talking about fan made content through licensing agreements and Hasbro approval only, then perhaps. There is already a mechanism for this in merchandizing that can be modified to suit the media creation you are talking about.

As an example where business/marketing and fan projects intersect, just look at Amazon for guidance. If Hasbro agreed to add FiM to Anazon Kindle Worlds ... then that opens an income stream to authors of fanfics ... Hasbro keeps brand control ... and there is some QC. That is how you do it.

I would love to see Hasbro endorse my "My Little Pinkie: Pinkie Pie Is Magic So Shut Up & Watch" project.  :maud:

I've often seen pokemon fanfics on the kindle store! I don't see why we couldn't do the same for my little pony! :D

nice idea!
