Butch Hartmans other really well known show. I was a little hesitant on posting this thread or not. Since I'm not totally into this show anymore. More or less I've been pulled back into obsessing over a character I used to love when I was about 15. I ain't sayin the name, just check my profile for that. But despite it not being nearly as good as it once was its still pretty good, as long as it's not any of the episodes involving Sparky.

But what about you guys? Who's your favorite character and all that?

*clears throat*

Timmy was an average kid, that no one understands.
Mom and Dad and Vicky always giving him commands (BED, TWERP!)
Doom and gloom in his room is broken instantly

With his magic little fishes that grant his every wish 'cause in reality
They're his Odd parents, Fairly Odd Parents!
Wands and wings, little crowny things!
Odd Parents, Fairly Odd Parents!
Really odd, pea pod, buff bod, hot rod

Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice
Giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake!
Odd parents, Fairly Odd Parents,

They let you live when you are a kid!
FAIRLY ODD PARENTS.

...
if you didn't catch my drift i'm saying i watched that show obsessively as a kid.

OK, nowadays I feel that this show is where I got my sense of humor. Whenever I do fanfiction, most of my humor comes off as kind of like this show. Though, I feel it's like Spongebob where the new episodes aren't as good as the old ones. I feel it went downhill when it started adding unnecessary characters. I kind of like how this show's humor is running gags without the running gaga being too annoying.

This was one of my favorite shows as a kid, didn't they recently bring the show back?

Yeah and it's been going downhill rather fast lately. I'm not even sure if I would even want to see Norm again anytime soon. As bad as this shows gotten lately they'd probably just f---k up the entire character. Sad really.

I never liked it i dont know why :/

Understandable. It had a good premise but it eventually fell back into using overused themes that just watered the entertainment the show had down, making it feel as if it was a totally different show.

This is what happens when you milk a series. See, I was a huge fan, and I didn't even know it was back on again.

Wasn't the movie with Drake Parker supposed to be the literal "end" of the series?

Oh I wish it had been. The movie wasn't great, but at least it'd be over and they wouldn't keep it up despite being past its prime by now. Don't get me started on the last of those live action movies they've made.

I think this show would've worked if it got the treatment of lasting 3-4 seasons because a premise like this could only work for so long without getting stale due to the formula. It's sort of like Phineas and Ferb in that regard.

Trying to start watching this show after your childhood is bad because you are not pure enough to not see everything in an unintended way...

It makes it about 20% funnier, though.

I can apply this to so many other shows. Animaniacs and early Spongebob come

To mind.

I really liked this show when it started, because at the time I was more into Cartoon Network's shows, and it was more like a CN cartoon. I can't remember for sure, but I think it came on before my parents bought enough cable to extend to Cartoon Network, and so I really only had Nick, but could watch CN with LOTS of static. So Fairly Oddparents was a little blessing for me, as I was pretty tired of Nick's shows by that point.

Nevertheless, perhaps in the year of 2004, I stopped watching TV for some reason. I think that's because we got high-speed internet that year and it took over my media. Lol. Enough about that, though... I went several years without watching anything, whatsoever. That includes Fairly Oddparents, of course.

Geez, me and my pointless monologues, all to get the point of saying: I haven't really watched it in ages, therefore I never really saw it go "downhill". Lately I started watching TV again, and I've caught it a few times and haven't thought any of the episodes I have seen have been bad. Although it falls after my bedtime, and thus I don't typically get to watch it. >.<

That sounds sort of like me, to be honest.

I loved the show to death at one point. Yeah, it wasn't as good as PPG or Dexter's Lab in my eyes, but it had a certain charm to it. It was funny without being overly stupid, IMO.

Of course, after time, I lost track of the show, especially as my attention became more focused on gaming and the internet. I'm kinda surprised they brought the show back, but it seems it fell into the same trap that Dexter's Lab did. :(

Oh yeah, and Butch Hartman is the master of flanderizing his own characters.

It's sad how true this is.

Enough sadness let's discuss when the show was great.

Like before sparky. Though some would say before poof but I unno. I guess sometime in the middle of when it was just poof it got bad at times but I wouldn't really say he ruined it. No. It was the goddamned dogs fault.

But as I said we're discussing the good ol days.
