Pinkie-Sparkle 254 November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 I am a girl, and I LOVE MLP Can I consider myself "brony" or "pegasister" when I have a lot of MLP merchandise? Hahah.I just bought a Princess Twilight Sparkle crystal castle. :') Sometimes I feel like a little kid when I go to the toyshop. I think I'm more than just a fan of the show. Frostgage 7,975 November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 I'll admit I never expected to see a thread like this. XD Anyway, male fans outside the targeted demographic may outnumber females, but I don't think it's as extreme as you think. 1 Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. Celli 4,337 November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 Of course! People of all ages and genders like MLP. There's no reason to think that the male fans are the only people who like it
Larkybird~ 734 November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 No! All females hate MLP. MLP was created by a man. Everything you've heard is a lie. We all HATE MLP. In fact I joined just to troll stupid bronies! You guys and your dumb ponies! Grow up and stop watching a kids show! Ponies are dumb. /sarcasm. Yes girls like MLP. They ARE the original intended audience for one. 1 http://i.imgur.com/1m3V4im.jpg ^full sized avatar picture there
CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 Simple answer. Of course some do. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.
TubeSock2018 325 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 (edited) I think the male fans are just the loud majority. I think the majority of fans are girls. It is, after all, the intended demo. They're the ones constantly being targeted to "hey, watch this show and buy these toys". Im not saying an intended demo means automatic majority, but I don't think girls are the kind that go onto forum sites and are vocal on the internet. And when I say girls, I dont mean women fans, which I know there are plenty of and are active participants of the online fandom. I mean girls. Like, a child who is female. I personlly think they make up the majority of MLP fans. Then the women fans, and finally the men fans. I put women fans second because I feel that FiM not only brought in a new generation of women fans, but what about women who grew up with G3, 2 and 1? Women who joined the MLP fandom because of G4 joined an already massive number of women who were already fans. The majority of MLP fans that are men probably started with FiM. Falsey 44 December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 Well, I would think if there are millions of fans out there, some are bound to be female. It'd be kinda silly to assume everyone who enjoys mlp is male. Anyway, I enjoy mlp, and I consider myself genderless, does that help? Would you like to play with me? I'd like to play with you, forever, and ever, and ever! No... no you can't have it! It's mine! Stay back!
ponylaces 1,870 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 Why of course there are girls who like ponies. Aside from the 2 girls stuffing my ponies at build a bear I have never met another fellow 'pegasister'. Out of all the fans I've met in real life they have all been guys. I'm not sure why it's hard to run across a female fan as opposed to male fans...maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. That reminds me, the opposite happened to me. I've never met a guy who likes the show in real life, ever. Just girls at my school. Then again, if a guy admitted they liked the show at my school, they would get strange looks from people all the time. hello

Emerald Claus 24,845 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 I am a female. I am age fifteen, my parents and my friends know of my bronyness. (I don't especially like the term pegasister.) I try to embrace the love for the show as best as I can. I have been teased, but never judged. 1 Big thanks to @The Wife of Hawks, @Trix or Treatand @Splasheefor these images! Emerald Star 513 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 I'm a girl who enjoys MLP. It's kind of sad that we get overlooked so much. When people think of 'brony' they think of male fans, they are the group that gets the most attention and is usually more vocal. However I'm just as much of a fan as any guy here. Since I'm still outside the target audience for age, I still got weird looks and teased when my brother found out and told my parents. 6 DeviantArt:http://emera33.deviantart.com/

When people read about stuff on the internet, they want to hear about something unusual, and interesting. Even though older girls liking MLP is already unusual in today´s society, men who like said thing is just even weirder, and people might resort to stereotypes when judging such a group of people. it´s not that the guys are bigger fans, they are just more fascinating(in both a good and a bad way, depending on the person) for outsiders, since it is still such a gender-role-defying thing to like as a guy. (I hope i am making at least some sense here^^)

Po-Nonimous 583 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 lol that's is just making it too difficult now, stick to simple, as long as we don't get any extreme feminists that will complain about the term being unfair and sexist I am gonna just stick to brony. That's a good idea, like it. I'd suggest Ponykin except that I think it might sound a bit too much like the term that people who think they're animals use. (Yes, there really are such people in the world, I won't go into it.) Still, I like the idea of the gender neutral term of Ponykin as long as it's not misunderstood. Thunderlane 550 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 I personally know a couple of pegasisters myself. (They prefer just saying brony though, they think pegasister sounds crap. Well, so do I as well) I play loads of Rocket League and GRID 2 on PC if you want to join me at some time. Account is linked in the pic above. TubeSock2018 325 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 When people think of 'brony' they think of male fans,It's kinda hard not to considering brony comes from the combination of pony and bro, which is a condensed version of brother.I know it's a unisex term now, but it's still tricky with the whole bro part. I've never met a female who wants to be called bro, so when I hear brony, my mind jumps to male, even tho I am aware I could be wrong.
zombienixon 330 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 (edited) Isn't it sad that people even ask this? Granted, I think the majority here have known the answer even before FiM came out. Take a look at this promo for the new toy line (which is what makes Hasbro money and is the reason for the show's existance, if you didn't already know). Look who's featured there. Are they a. little girls, or b. teenage/adult guys? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhBMYYRmiGQ The brand would be almost certainly dead or comatose without young girls. Hasbro's biggest moneymakers aren't Funkos or Welovefine T-shirts or plushes (especially since they're licensed from a third party and have to share the profit with the manfacturer). It's stuff like this. Who do you think this was made for? Do you think they have a whole aisle full of this stuff just for the guys who like extremely girly cutesy things (all 35 of us)? This franchise wouldn't have made it to a Generation 4 without little girls. Is it really so hard for you to admit you like a show for little girls? Is it different? Yes. Is it embarrassing? For myself and many others, yes. Stop with the denial and deal with it, you aren't going to be judged here.
