J.R. 3,183 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 I know they're bullies and all, but since the episode "Twilight Time" they've started to grow on me and now I think they're likeable and cute. But what do you guys think? Are DT and SS just unforgivable or are they at worst just shallow (for only wanting hang with Twilight due to being a princess) and at best they're actually ok. And IMO DT and SS are way better than the Mayor (who's useless as heck). Ice Blizzard, one of the coolest ponies you're ever gonna meet. Also, Rarity is, without question, best pony. Moonlight 7,286 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 They're two of my favorite ponies, especially Diamond Tiara who is my favorite filly and in the top 10 of my favorite characters. Odyssey 5,716 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 (edited) Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon have a lot of potential. I know they're meant to enforce the school bully stereotype, but there's no reason to not give them depth. I know a show that had a school bully stereotype, but in the end, the writers given some decent depth to her. In said show, there's even a time when one of the characters insulted her by calling her a "one-dimensional valley girl stereotype". The closest we've gotten to depth is with Diamond Tiara in Ponyville Confidential. It's nice to see a different side of her, but it's unfortunately forgotten in One Bad Apple. They may be hurdles for the CMC, but they should do more than call them Blank Flanks. The CMC don't care anymore now that they are unfazed by DT and SS's insults, as seen in Flight to the Finish. They do have cute designs, though. Especially Silver Spoon's, that mane and those glasses are adorable. x) Edited November 22, 2014 by Odyssey
Roughshod 719 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Diamond Tiara is a stereotypical spoiled brat who thinks she can do whatever she wants and has no respect for anyone else. Silver Spoon iis the typical lackey who tags along and feeds into her ego. That's what they seem to be on the surface anyway. More background on them may be revealed in the upcoming season, in particular the 100th episode that's been rumored to focus on non main characters. 2 The truth is always rough. Sunny Fox 5,950 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Diamond Tiara, for all her evil actions, still acts. She instigates, she pushes the conflict along, and even if she does it in the service of evil, she certainly has the ability to lead ponies. If she could learn to be nice, that could really develop into a good amount of charisma, and make her a decent leader. Plus, she's cute when she smiles in a non-evil way. Silver Spoon can go take a running leap, as far as I'm concerned. I can only remember one moment when she actually acted on her own initiative ("Family Appreciation Day"), the rest of the time she's just the tail to Diamond's kite. 1 Happy minion of The Fabulous One! Nuke87654 1,849 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Bullying tropes that have potential as we saw wtih Diamond Tiara in Ponyville Confidential (one of the few good things in that episode) and Silver Spoon as well if she finally stops following Diamond Tiara around like a lackey. It's unfortunate that the writers seem content to use them as the CMC's antagonists and bullies when its a CMC episode. From what I've heard, Littlest Pet Shops own bullies are >>>>>>>>>>> over FIM's own and are one of the few things FIM can definitely learn from it's sister show to better itself.
Justin ZW 396 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 I hate them. They're flat out rude and crude, and they remind me of the people who bully me and push me around just because of my size and weakness. It's pathetic, and I hope they get what's coming to them. Seriously, as someone who regularly gets pushed around, I absolutely cannot sympathize with them. All I want is for them to get put in their place. 1 A Whovian Administrator of Zelda Wiki who loves Rainbow Dash and all her antics.
Leonard Smix 421 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 They are made to be hated by the audience, as long as you know this, this makes you appreciate them. Personally, as a character, I don't like them, but as a pony and other stuff besides the way they act, ehem Flight to the Finish, they're alright. Silver Spoon is like the filly that has no idea what to do besides agree with Diamond Tiara, so I cant hate her.

Fractured 2,684 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 More swag than a DBZ villain... (nonchalantly plotting your inevitable demise.) But still cuter than a basket of kittens... (There's no point in looking away; you're already under best pony's spell.) Diamond Tiara is absolutely amazing. Absolutely. Silver Spoon on the other hand... I don't know much about. But she hangs around with Diamond Tiara, and that makes her amazing too, because Diamond has enough awesome to make you cool by proxy. sweetolebob18 728 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 I saw a comment (Blog? I'm a total techno illiterate) from someone who sounded British (or Australian). They said "Silver Spoon" is British slang for what we would say as "Born with a silver spoon in their mouth" (Like the Kennedys, only more so) They saw SS as being more of a follower than a leader, but thought that it might make a good episode to explore her family background & show her actions as being more the result of drifting into bad company (DT) than outright malice. Plus, a certain amount of rebellion against the constant pressure to live up to her famous ancestors (As a kid, did you ever get "Why can't you be more like...?" I got 1 hell of a beating for replying "In the interest of Science, do you blame my faults on heredity or environment?") The point being, they thought it might make a good CMC episode on why bullies act that way & not giving in to peer pressure. I agree As to DT, sort of what X was like as a kid. (From Glee, I'm having a Senior Moment & can't recall her name. You want to know all the kids lived on my block, 60 years ago? That, I can recall)

AlbaTross 1,586 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 (edited) I don't really think much of them. I suppose they work as characters, but unlike most characters who have at least some kind of original trait to set them aside from the archetypes they're based on, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are no more than average archetypes. I suppose they're no worse than other examples of said archetypes, but they still feel out of place in a series that's more cleverly written. Diamond Tiara is the typical female bully archetype seen in any number of children's shows with female protagonists. She's popular, obtained something those in conflict with her want, often ends up obtaining certain high positions in school clubs and events, has a lackey, and is even the daughter of a rich single father. All she's missing is a second lackey that has just as much personality as Silver Spoon. Likewise, Silver Spoon is the friend of Diamond Tiara, and as per her archetype, she's forbidden from having much in the way of personality, because Diamond Tiara is the only one in the group that is allowed to resemble an actual character, and Silver Spoon's sole purpose for existing is to add to Diamond Tiara's numbers so that she has a duo, instead of being a completely solo act. If Silver Spoon really wanted to fit her archetype, she's be around even less and only pop up occasionally. As I said before though, this series is missing a second Silver Spoon to artificially create a 3 on 3 conflict when needed, which would probably be the only occasion we would see such lackeys, except maybe for a scene or two here or there. Granted, the Babs Seed episode did take advantage of a temporary 3 on 3 dynamic. As it stands, I guess Silver Spoon isn't as hackneyed as other such characters I've seen, but that still doesn't make her much of a character. Ianpiersonjdavis 512 November 23, 2014 Share November 23, 2014 I could like them if there were jerks for an actual reason, but there is no real reason shown, no kind of insecurity that results in their actions, instead just of shallow, spoiled brats, who are also a bullies. We know from Family Appreciation Day that Diamond Tiara is a daddy's girl, but that's about it. The only other exception I can think of would be Ponyville Confidential, where Diamond Tiara knows that as the editor in chief, she believes that it's her job to make sure that the paper sells, regardless of the consequences-and she succeeds in doing just that before losing her position. Silver Spoon feels more like an accessory than an actual character as I don't think I've ever seen her in an episode where she's not hanging around Diamond Tiara and doesn't seem to have any other character at all besides being a typical follower. If the writer's took the opportunity to explore their characters more, then there would be the possibility that I might enjoy them more.

~Sassy Dashie~ 712 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 I actually like them both. I think that later in the show they might actually become friends with the CMC. At least Silver Spoon. DT is a little less nice. Personal opinion. Friendship is not about whom you've known the longest..It's about those who've never left your side. Ask me anything! Arctofire 227 November 29, 2014 Share November 29, 2014 their alright, they come in when there needed for the plot to unfold, and are just kind of there. I made a point that in E.G, Sunset Shimmer was like having Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon as the main villains for a 2 parter.
