A little birdy came came by and dropped me a link to this thread. I still exist (somewhat), though I'm afraid my time here has largely ended... though I do pop in every few months if someone specifically brings something to my attention. ^^;

 

There's not a whole lot for me to say, myself... in my case, the magic simply departed, leaving in its place plenty of less than fond memories of trudging through reports, mod disputes, and the many other less than pleasant memories of administrative work. These things happen. I still keep in touch with those that care to do so, so there is that.

 

Honestly, I think people give too much credence to things such as having an early registration date or a high post count. I suppose it's nice to feel as though one is a part of an ELITE GROUP or PRIVATE CLUB or such, but... eh. Empty numbers are silly things to celebrate in the end. Post counts, registration dates, etc. 

 

Anyhow... back to my cave. o3o

March 2012. This forum was very appealing to me at the time and decided to sign-up. Yeah there was a lot of fun discussions at the time and everyone was so uber welcoming and active all around. Didn't make a lot of friends here just wanted to participate in as many topics that really interested me in at the time. The most jarring change for me here was when they got rid of the log-in via Facebook functionality. I signed up using that option and boy did it cause me a headache to resolve. But anyway I didn't do much interacting with other forum member at the time, I wish I did, so I could have looked up anyone that's still here from that time.

 

 

I've been on/off with this site a few times. I just came back after literally being gone for an entire year now.

I joined pretty early in 2012, back in the days of the chat room and ticks instead of badges. I'm on here fairly often, but I sometimes take long and random vacations. I usually come back and stick around for a while before heading off again though.

Same time I joined. I remeber that facebook log in was a real pain for me up until the poniverse integration. I didn't even know my own username for the longest time. Actually I think I still don't.

I joined in October 2012. I've never really been that active though. I just come here from time to time if I don't have a lot going on, so I usually don't remember a lot of people and they don't really remember me. Plus I never frequent the Forum Games or Lounge section, which I guess where most older users hang out.

Nah, I'm not an old member. I joined in April 2014, so I'm more familiar with some of the new members here.

 

But is it that much of a bad thing that not many old members are around anymore? People come and go, usually for either life problems or just overall disinterest. You can't truly expect for them to come back as much as you wish for it. Just because you miss something in the past doesn't mean you should unfairly judge new things by missing features or a different community. It's quite disappointing when people here say such things, really.

 

But what do I know? I didn't join back in 2012, so maybe I probably don't know that the community back then was more small and therefore more close together. :S

I'd love some elaboration on this, that sounds interesting! What was the conflict about?

This was years ago so I might not be the most reliable witness, but from what I remember it was where the forums broke out into kind of a mock civil war for the hell of it between the "Chaotics", "Lawfuls" and "Neutrals". You picked a side by adding one of the three to you username and I think the ringleaders were actually named Lawful and Chaotic. I was very much still a newbie then, so I mostly stayed out of it, but I recall there being several threads on joining sides, convincing people to join sides or why one side was better than the other.

 

It was a weird few months after that.

I think so, yes. People stay here for different reasons. For me, the community is what is why I am here. I couldn't really care less about discussing mlp. I'm not expecting someone to come back if they lose interest but I think that it is a bad thing that they leave since they're basically "leaving" the family. That people leave doesn't really matter to me anymore cause I don't have many close friends left and I'm not really feeling that family-feeling anymore. That died ages ago.

As far as I can remember, this fad did not get heated. It was one of the most lame fads on the site imo. We had older and even newer ones that actually were ridiculously fun. When thinking about it, it's kind of sad that we don't see those kind of things around here anymore.

The -oop fad was waaaaay better.

 

Okay so it was about the same level of "ugh" but a lot of people got into it. I was one of the few who kept it in their names after it was done.
