I'd hate to be a Negative Nancy, but if there was a state for just bronies.. There'd still probably be violence and hatred. Bronies, like all people, are not perfect. Even though we watch a fantastic show with great moral lessons... Bronies can be cruel just as much as anyone else.

Naaah. I never understood why some people want a brony country or world, as much as I love this fandom. If there was a state for bronies, then it wouldn't work out well at all, from political reasons to social reasons to many other controversies. Not only that but things would get boring quickly if we're all forced to talk about ponies.

 

However, I actually once read a thread here about how New Mexico's latest trend is MLP:FiM. So I guess you could technically say that New Mexico is the brony state.

The thread title... you say this as if it's only a possibility. Don't you realise that Fluttershy is too far in with her machinations at this point to be turning back? By April 2015, as by her design, the brony state shall be complete. August 2015, all those eligible for conversion will be followers of the brony faith. And by 2016, we will be ready. We will bring judgement upon the world and its non-brony population. Hundreds of thousands will fall to the power of the stare, animals will unite with us in their multitude to tear through their streets, every institute of hatred will be demolished, every non-brony thought squeezed out to be wiped from the face of our world, every! Seriously though, while that kind of state certainly sounds more idyllic than a lot of what the world's offering at the moment (plus, imagine our politics system! We could change votes to brohoofs, with an Elements of Harmony based government putting laws into effect at the wave of a Twilicane :3) I doubt it would ever last. Other states would probably take one look at us and start scheming away about how to exploit us 'naïve little people' with our peaceful ways (though at least we'd have the Militant Bronies to disprove that idea and protect us...) Besides, even with my obsession with Fluttershy, I think it'd get pretty boring living in a society where you can't really ever escape from MLP and things to do with it (sometimes we need a break...) And we'd still have those 'bronies' that are intolerant and seek to cause trouble, even if they turn out to be rarer than their equivalents are in other states.

 

One other thing- kids. Considering the male:female ratio for this fandom, the pegasisters are probably gonna get fed up of having near constant pregnancies to maintain our population

I don't really see it working in either the long or the short-term. As my good friend stated bronies are no different than other humans. We're vulnerable to the same infighting and disagreements that other humans have to deal with.

 

And how would the state government work? How would our so-called ideals flourish with the Federal goverment? What about beliefs from outside the state? What if more conservative powers decided to infiltrate our government?

 

How about work-site laws? Insurance?

 

It's a complicated mess that is doomed to failure, IMO.

Okay, I agree with Midnight Frost. If we did make a brony/ pegasister only state, haters could sneak in and totally ruin it. Also there's the whole thing about having to run the state, deal with politics etc. However it would be cool if there were special brony- only buildings that  were linked with super-fast tunnels! ~sigh~ I can dream..

There's nothing about Bronies that's inherently better than any other group of people. We say we're all about friendship and whatnot, but based on sheer size (we are a huge fandom) there's no way everyone is going to be all sugar-rainbows and smiles. Besides, establishing a whole state based on liking a cartoon show seems...silly, to say the least. I never like it when I hear stuff like this, since it seems to put Bronies on some sort of pedestal above everyone else.

Well, in the US, you ARE legally allowed to declare your town or state to be fully independent from the US of A, creating your own Micronation.

Instead of a Brony State, why not a micronation?  It could be a fun way to bring everypony together, but in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way.  Kind of uniting the fandom, with chosen leaders, etc.  again, something more for fun then anything.

For the record, I think founding a whole country based on a book of fiction is just as ridiculous. But even then, you're presenting a false equivalency; assuming you're referring to religion, those books were taken as fact, literally the word of God(s), whereas FiM is strictly entertainment media. There are inherent differences in execution between a written ideology taught as the one truth and being used to build a legion of devout followers, and a fandom deciding they want to form a sovereign entity based around the ideals of their favorite show. Ideals that not everyone even agrees on.

 

I'm sorry, you're right, it is fun to think about. I'm just used to approaching everything in a very straight-forward manner so I forget that questions like these tend to be mostly a "what if" thing and not a discussion of how feasible it actually would be.

Unfortunately, I doubt there would be "no violence, no racism", etc.  The truth is that, even though a lot of Bronies do try to "love and tolerate", the simple fact is that the Brony fandom is massive and it's made up of all kinds of people, just like any other fandom.  Not all Bronies take the lessons from the show to heart.  Some of the fandom are blatant hypocrites or racist, sexist, homophobic (which is ironic, considering the stereotype surrounding the fandom having to do with homosexuality).  I'm sure at some point there'd be some kind of war of Bronies vs. Cloppers, with the Bronies that absolutely cannot stand cloppers battling against the cloppers themselves and those who support them.  And be aware that some Bronies and/or pegasisters despise other Bronies and/or pegasisters.  It's not very common, but I have seen people claiming to be in the fandom stating that they hate the fandom as a whole or certain aspects of it.  Giving Bronies their own place to live is about the same as giving homosexuals their own island, an idea someone actually proposed:  It wouldn't accomplish anything and it suggests that the group is somehow a race that should be isolated from others.
