Will the Mane 6 Ever Find Love?

I don't think the producers have any intention to begin romantic developments in the Mane 6. However, I would love to see some romance develop...

I'd love to see an awkward love triangle in the show for at least one episode, or maybe even add in a reoccurring stallion where one of the mane 6 has a shy crush on him (possibly Rarity, just to see Spike's distress ).

 

Rarity could regularly ask for Spike's assistance either when she's working at the boutique or for gem hunting. Most likely the later. But bottom line is, Spike is really Twilight's assistant first, not Rarity's. I can imagine an episode where Twilight and Rarity might find themselves fighting over Spike only for Spike to rage quite in the end.

 

Not exactly your typical love triangle but it strangely fits the idea of a love triangle.

I think a few crushes or one romance based episode wouldn't hurt anyone.

 

Crushes are often a topic on kids shows and a lot of little girls enjoy those sorts of story lines so I can see them going down that route a little.

I could see them maybe in a series finale having Rarity end up with her prince charming which makes sense as a happy ending for her character. But as it stands I don't see any real possibility for romance with the mane 6 beyond singular episode crushes, you don't see that with kids shows too much. And if it does happen it's usually end-game pairings which really.. the only one that is set up right now is Spike x Rarity but they wouldn't do that due to the interspecies factor.

Personally, this is something I would quite like to see in the series, however, I don't really think Hasbro will be able to pull it off. I really liked Klopp's ideas and I thought they were quite good episodes, but `i would either wait and see if Hasbro do anything in Season 3 or leave it to the fans (as in shipping)

Maybe there will be an episode where one of the Mane 6 gets a coltfriend (correct term?) and they stop hanging around with the group in favour of hanging around with their coltfriend. It would probably end with them realising that even though it's nice spending time with someone that you love, it shouldn't get in the way of your true friends.

 

I don't really want them to find love in a sense that would destroy the group dynamic. If they implement it in a discrete sort of way, like a small discussion about it or a quick mention about how the relationship was going, I'd be happy.

I think there might be a chance the mane 6 get coltfriends. Hasbro likes money, little girls like romance and Hasbro might one day demand the producers add in romantic pairs for the mane 6 so that the target audience can spend their money buying the colts(I say 'colts' because there's no way they'd dare make same sex relationships).

 

However, that might not be too bad, if well done. The colts might be from out of Ponyville, for example. So the producers could keep focusing on the friendship between the mane 6, and bring back the colts when they feel like it, while Hasbro is content with the money they make.

 

Plus, I can see how having a love interest might be interesting for character development. Like people have said, Fluttershy would have to overcome her shyness to ask the colt out, or like GJB93 says in this quote:

To all that saying that this shouldn't be done because it's a show intended for kids. Wasn't it the MLP G2 that had ponies talking about boys and fantasizing about relationships with them (correct me if I'm wrong).

 

Now, I'm not implying that it is a good idea to make scenarios like those in G2 (that were horrible), i mean they could do it in a silly way, Hasbro style, but G2 was also intended for kids and it had some sort of shipping?

Ahh, you remember all the girls in Kindergarten thought it was cute to talk about boys. There's nothing wrong with any of the mares having a crush, even temporary. That would put a nice dent in all the bronies that argue about their sexuality (straight, bi, gay, asexual, ect.)
