No, not really, I think its a good show genuinely. Its just got something magical to it that no other show really has for me. I can't explain it frankly.

 

I think MLP is my favorite show, not that I watch alot of shows, but I still think MLP is awesome. And my favorite atleast personally.

For me it's not about saying "MLP is the greatest show ever", it's about me being able to say "MLP is great. Insta-added to my pile of awesome stuff".

 

Of course there are going to be shows we deem that might not have an equal. I'm actually surprised I didn't see Avatar the Last Airbender on your list, or any of the Toonami classics.

 

Overrated or underrated, it's really just about enjoying what you like and liking what you enjoy.

It's a little overrated in the realm of television as a whole. As for cartoons, I legitimately think it's one of the best out today...next to Gravity Falls.

While I would agree that some fans take their obsession too far, you could say that for most other popular shows. I think it's earned most of the praise it's gotten. The only show I've liked more are Megas XLR and Gurren Lagann

"Overrated" is a tricky word because it implies that opinion is fact.

 

For example, I think a large portion of the shows on the OP's list are awful and/or overrated, but does that make my opinion any more valid? No, not at all.

 

People have different tastes, and they ought to like whatever they want, and not worry themselves about whether or not a show is "underrated" or "overrated" or whether it's better or worse than Show X. If you like something, then you like it; if you don't, then you don't. Simple as that. There's no requirement for liking certain shows more than others because of any one person's (or even several people's) arbitrary measure of quality.

MLP is my favorite show right now so I don't think it's overrated. I do think that some fans try to make everything pony related however these people are usually irrational. I think the pros over weigh the cons through.

Well it is a good show and all, but saying it is the best show ever made is too much for me. It's just a normal cartoon that's a bit better than other cartoons. The show just seems better to those who have fallen in love with it. And especially us who have ponies in our heads all the time.

 

So yeah the show is a bit overrated. But it's awesome of course. Though the fandom is not overrated at all. The fandom is fantastic.

I personally think it both overrated and underrated. But that doesn't make it a bad show it wouldn't have the fan base it dose if it was. With all the hate it gets I think in that retrospect its underrated and marked as a bad show.

 

But in the fandom I think it kinda is overrated I pretty sure there is a group that think that the writers can do no wrong and think everything that come out from mlp is great. With thinking like that it definitely overrated.

I don't think it's overrated at all. It's easily one of my top favorite cartoons. It's also one of the few cartoons I even watch now, I can't stand half of the ones on Cartoon Network, Nick or Disney.

Personally...I think that the old Cartoon Network shows are EXTREMELY overrated. Or most old popular cartoons are really overrated. Stupid nostalgia goggles is all it is. Compared to most modern-day cartoons...Adventure Time or Spongebob are more overrated than MLP.

The thing is literally none of the cartoons (live-action series) you mentioned are even close to the demographic MLP is for. So I think it's a little unfair to compare it to those listed..... and South Park? Really? Don't get me wrong there are people who praise the show way more than it's deserves but it's still pretty decent.

MLP is an overrated cartoon. Many bronies, NOT ALL BUT MOST, act like it's the best show ever made in mankind. I used to love the show as well and even liked the fanbase. I thought season 3 was pretty boring and lost interest, then I realized that the other episodes were pretty boring as well. Guess MLP was just a phase for me. I AM NOT SAYING MLP IS BAD IT IS GOOD BUT THERE IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER OUT THERE. Also I'm tired of people complaining "90's was the best and MLP is the only good show since then!" I'm also a bit displeased that no one mentioned Avatar:the Last Airbender. It's a show from 2005 I believe and am I the only one who followed it from the first episode till the end? An AMAZING SHOW, soundtrack was great, WRITING WAS INCREDIBLE (not a single episode i didn't like), all the characters and their character development was amazing and it is by far my favourite show ever, way better than any 90's cartooon I've seen and if anyone disagrees has not followed the show from beginning to end or just has a different opinion which I find strange since that show really is awesome

Personaly, I don't like following all the mainstream stuff. If I watch MLP, it's because I love it, and it's actually the only tv show I watch.

And the bronies can do fanart and pony music if they want lol.

I've already posted here, but I'll say something that I don't think I said in that post (I'm too lazy to try to find my post ).

 

MLP:FiM is overrated, sure. But, as many others here have said, that doesn't mean it isn't good. Of course it's true (for anything, really) that somebody, somewhere is utterly fanboying over it and making it seem so much better than it is. But, as we should all know by now, overration and underration (are those words? ) are merely opinions; ratings from individuals that will never have the exact same taste in entertainment that you do.

 

Now for the crazy part. MLP:FiM is massively underrated as well! So many anti-bronies have literally underrated the show by calling it garbage without even knowing what it holds. Not only the blind haters, though; there are people who have seen the show, and want to like it, but they just can't because of their pride. Ewww, ponies? I mean, I love this show, but what would my peers think???

 

So there you have it. MLP:FiM is an equally over and underrated show (maybe a teeeeensy bit on the over side...  ).

Is it?  Probably is, but it's still a damn good cartoon.  It's smartly written, but doesn't forget the roots of good cartooning- Disney, Warner Brothers, etc.  Is it the greatest cartoon in the history of western television animation?  Probably not.  In terms of innovation in design, overall production values, directing, writing, etc.  it doesn't top, say, Batman the Animated Series.  But in terms of how it makes me feel emotionally, it's right up there with the best.

The reason I think it is a bit overrated is because the show is very well known across the internet and everybody likes it, perhaps a bit too much sometimes which is how I define overrated. Not to mention we seem to forget the show is about talking (awesome!) magical ponies that has a target audience for young girls (or you could debate Lauren Faust wanted to make it a show the entire family could enjoy), so yeah.
