SteveMorison 404 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Just listened to this fanfic, and I really don't have much to say. Worse than Cupcakes imo, and shows there are some sick people within the brony community. Whoever wrote this needs psychiatric help.
Lunatic Cake 1,618 January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Uhm... it's simply sick. Somebody wanted attention and sadly that somebody got it. 1 Sig by: Kyoshi
Steel Accord 6,660 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 (edited) On the same level of Cupcakes, the fanfic version of exploitation movies. Reveling in a sick debauchery that would send the characters it depicts into blinding rage or pouring tears if they saw how they were shown. Of "the unholy trinity" as I call them, only Rainbow Factory is slightly redeemable because that at least has a somewhat interesting setup as opposed to an excuse plot. (And a very cathartic fantasy of mine is Celestia discovering the place, having the Royal Guard perform summary execution on the cultists, and then solar nuking it!) The Shadow Stallion 127 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 So just because something is violent, bloody, gory, and contains sexual content makes someone in need of psychiatric help? I for one disagree. If you don't like it, don't read it. Fans create whatever they want and they can't be censored, but you can ignore things you don't like. Clearly Rainbow Factory has been labeled as horror and yet people are still surprised when the brutal murdering begins. Can't handle horror or other things of dark nature, don't look at them. It's not like you're being forced at gunpoint : P
Odyssey 5,716 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 It's too vulgar for my tastes. Normally I tend to read creepypastas and bad fanfiction for the LOLs, but this one puts me off. I disagree that the author "needs psychiatric help". Fans should be able to create whatever they want, and if you don't like it, just don't read it.
Luna the Great of all the Russias 2,983 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 (edited) I'm quite certain many people are capable of thinking up morbid things. I would consider Sweet Apple Massacre to be a or several levels beyond Cupcakes because of the details made on the sexual attack on the fillies. I decided not to finish the story once such details were mentioned; maybe I'll finish reading it someday but I have no plans to as of now (I don't read fanfictions that often anyway). But I enjoyed Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory though and have made numerous artworks based on them. Edited January 30, 2015 by Krovavaya Luna Pony Art Thread Brony since ~25 July of 2011. Simeon Leonard 119 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 The way I see it, the brony fandom exists to celebrate My Little Pony as a work of excellence. The characters and stories in MLP are crafted in such a way as to impart goodness. I don't see the point of turning them into something dark. I mean, I get why people do it, and they're certainly free to, but I don't condone it or even recognize it as legitimate part of the fandom, to be perfectly frank. But whatever. I'm not the arbiter of this fandom and people are free to do what they want. I can tell from the title of the story that it probably wouldn't be my thing, so I can avoid it easily enough. As another commenter said, it's not as if there's a gun to my head.
BayoUni2847 528 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 I started reading it a few years back and never finished it. It didn't really grab my attention like Cupcakes or Cheerilee's Garden did. To be honest, I never read fan fictions at all. I just heard about the three and was curious. Violence in scary movies make me laugh, because it's not real and it's comical. I also laughed at the intense violence of Cupcakes and Cheerilee's Garden, mainly because of how it was written. I don't need any psychiatric help, it's just the way my humor is. It's also the reason why I love Mortal Kombat so much.
Noei 718 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 (edited) It feels strange- if no disgusting -to see poneys in such a dark tone. Also it was way too long for me to finish it. Edited January 30, 2015 by Monsieur Noel By MiniKirby123
ChrisEggII 44 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 There are two types of people who write fanfics like that: -Normal people, who are relaxing when whey write about someone's death -Deviants. And I bet bigmacintosh20111 is in first group. What did I think when I had read this? "That was weak". This fic has no sense, there's no plot and Big Mac is out of character. It's just typical, naive massacre inspired by "Cupcakes". 1 Avatar by Darkonix & Joelashimself, Signature by 3dapple
Fractured 2,684 January 30, 2015 Share January 30, 2015 I honestly can't even consider it a grimdark like Cheerilee's Garden or The Secret Life of Rarity; it's not coherent enough for it. It reads more like one long, drawn out thought instead of an actual story. Like Cupcakes, only somehow managing to be even more tasteless. Having said that, he/she's (probably) not a psychopath, just someone looking for attention by trying to one up the other gorefics. I guess they succeeded, if only by somehow making everything even more ear-bitingly stupid than its predecessors. 3 Produced by the phenomenal J.R. SteveMorison 404 January 30, 2015 Author Share January 30, 2015 (edited) Ok, extra thoughts on this after calming down. The writer of this fic likely doesn't need psychiatric help but instead was most likely writing a gore fic for attention. I don't generally have a problem with gore, I am a fan of creepypasta, but the main problem with SAM is that it's very poorly written, there is no story and no explanation as to why Big Mac is suddenly acting this way. It's seems to be a gore story for the sole purpose of being a gore story, including many unwelcome and unnecessary details (why does Big Mac need to rape the fillies and perform all the gross crap he does), it leaves a poor taste in the mouth and the story has no real redeeming qualities imo. Plageius 263 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 It's like Final Destination. If you go in expecting a quality story, you'll be sorely dissapointed. If you want to have some cheesy laughs, you'll love it.
HunterTSN 1,444 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 If I believed in hell I would be scared of going straight there for this, but I read it with some friends and thought it was hilarious. Just, whatever you do, don't go in with the intention of taking it seriously. It's plain and simple shock-fiction; just a crazy story that tries to be as disgusting and offensive as possible to get the biggest reaction out of readers. Your very own Victorian-styling, airship-flying, super-sizing, brass-lining, quick-drying, detoxifying, low-pricing, newbie-knifing, over-driving, sometimes-hiding, unsurprising, ninja-fighting, perfect-timing, always-smiling, never-lying, best at writing, also rhyming automaton! Thunderlane 550 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 (edited) I like gorefics. I read them or look at pony gore to calm down for some reason :/ I liked cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, Cheerilee's Garden and stuff like that, but for me I don't really like Sweet Apple Massacre for the whole rape bit. I'm fine with gore, but rape isn't what I want to be reading about... I did find it a little funny though... Lisa 5,553 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 It's a story created for shocking attention and reactions, I don't really think there's anything else to it. It's not very impressive judging it's story and the composition from a structural view. The only reason it seems to be created is so people will be shocked by it and spread it out saying "Dude, check out this messed up gorefic!" Also, people saying that the writer needs psychological help are idiots. Just because you're easily shocked/offended does not mean that the writer is in fault for not being passive enough. You're the one in fault.
Nine 707 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 I briefly looked at it once. Seems the author was aiming to be as terrible as possible, and mission accomplished I guess.
Pineapple Bloom 511 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 I hated it. Cupcakes was gross, Rainbow Factory was pretty interesting, and Cheerilee's Garden was somewhat tolerable but Sweet Apple Massacre is... I understand it was just a joke or whatever, but due to personal experiences I believe sexual abuse is NOT something to joke about. 2 "My past does not define me, because my past is not today." VulpineTaco 525 January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 Gorefics are always pretty dumb, and this is no exception. They forsake any good storytelling for shock value. CupcakeEmpire 58 February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 I honestly prefer "Cupcakes". "Sweet Apple Massacre" seemed to be trying its best to be as messed up as possible (and it succeeded), which automatically ruined it. It's not really a story at all. It's just a bunch of disturbing scenes created for the sole purpose of getting a reaction out of people. No real substance to it, just attempts at shocking the audience. As such, I'm not a fan of it in the slightest.
