TubeSock2018 325 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 Still far too much for a system you already own.Oh, I wasn't saying it made the situation any better. I was just saying it's $200 and not $300.Whether it's worth it or not, I dunno. I'm kinda eyeing one at the moment since I bought a 3DS during the launch period so it'd be a pretty gucci upgrade for me. All the perks of the XL and bit more. StarBot 85 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 (edited) Wow though crowd. I never owned a 3DS, until I bought the New 3DS XL. I love it so far I see absolutely no reason to get it if you already have a 3ds. If you don't then I can see the benefits of paying $25 more than the old 3ds xl to get it. Personally I'll never get one unless they start making more games exclusive to it. They are Edited February 21, 2015 by StarBot
Mutemutt 773 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 They are [making more exclusive games for the new 3ds] And that's the wonkiest bit of this. I guess they're gonna be supporting both but with some games only being playable by the new 3ds, but the new 3ds isn't that different from the old one. Or, better yet, it just doesn't feel that different. So the thought that there's gonna be "3ds" games that my 3ds can't play leaves me feeling a bit slighted as a consumer. The reason they are making some games exclusive is not because they can for money, but because the games are too high end for a normal 3DS, the exclusive I can think of it Xenoblade 3D, it needs the better processing power of the New 3DS. The thing I can understand american consumers being annoyed about is the lack of the New 3DS and only getting the XL version (I am UK so the New 3DS non XL version was available still got the XL). The thing I can understand american consumers being annoyed about is the lack of the New 3DS and only getting the XL version (I am UK so the New 3DS non XL version was available still got the XL). It doesn't really matter since it's being marketed as the same. If we take a look at the previous handheld console records: Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance Sp - played all the same games DS, DS lite, DSi, etc - played the same games 3ds, 3ds XL, 2ds - played the same games, except for the new 3ds because it's a snooty weirdo. So unless they're marketing this as a whole new step up akin to the Gameboy Advance transitioning to the DS (where it still had backwards compatibility), it just feels very weird and even money grabby. Are they shifting full gears to New 3ds support? Because they're not making all that much noise about it if they are, which leaves me very confused. It looks to me that the new and "old" 3ds are going to be running side by side, with the bulk of the games being just standard 3ds games.
Demonic Soulz 483 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 Honestly I traded my 3Ds for the New one and I can see a few differences. Yes the 3d tracking is a bit better but since I wore glasses it messes up at time when I have to fix them. The games that I had do however load faster and certain thing download much faster then before so that is something at leat. The extr buttons and c-stick im not sure I only used the c-stick with Kingdom Hearts DDD and the demon for the new Monster Hunter. All in all its pretty much the same only a tiny bit better...only a tiny Signature by the amazing:MiniKirby123
TheJLeeTeam 914 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 I needed a new one anyway. My original 3DS died over the summer and I heard about this model right after. So I decided to wait and get that one in case there were any exclusive games I wanted to get. I was going to get the XL until I heard this one. It's good only if you don't have a 3DS already or want exclusives like Xenoblade. Radiance64 7,059 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I've tried and and I like it, nub is kinda funny though. Don't feel like I need it right away though since I have an OG 3DS. Will get it eventually though, since my current 3DS can be rather fragile and the current exclusive is a port of Xenoblade, one of my favorite games of all time, which I want. Hopefully overall it's a lot more durable and generally longer lasting as well.
Twilight Dirac 721 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 No, Nintendo lost my patronage over the DSi. Losing the gameboy advance slot for some limited wireless capability that I never ended up using was a terrible trade, and a few years after I acquired it Nintendo released the 3DS so I got stuck with a rather limited library of games. I haven't purchased any new DS games for a few years now. Now that I have both a smart phone and laptop computer I have access to plenty of games on the road anyway, so I no longer need to purchase Nintendo's portable systems. So good riddance to the DS line of systems and good riddance to Nintendo in general, they produced excellent games once upon a time but no longer. TubeSock2018 325 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (edited) Aww F it, I bought one today. Getting one was a pain in the butt. I go on target.com. ok, in stock in so and so store. I go there. None of the shelves have any. Ok. Hello sir, do you have any New 3DS in stock? Guy looks at me like "you serious" and I'm like, I'm sorry the internet lied to me. I leave and go to a gamestop way far out since, again, the internet says "we have some". I get there. Do you have any New 3DS XL? Yes, the man says as he pulls out a 3DS xl. I look at it and say, no, this is A new 3DS Xl. I'm looking for THE New 3DS Xl. Guy then says, ohhhh no, we're out of those. This time, I do the smart thing. I call the other gamestop that says they have one. Way far out again, so this time I wanna be sure. And this time I managed to get one. Why is Nintendo so scarce with their products? Did the port strikes really screw them over this bad. Jeez Louis. Edited February 23, 2015 by pollo20x6

Geek0zoid 1,468 February 24, 2015 Share February 24, 2015 If you have an original 3DS model, I don't see much point in getting one unless you wanna play Xenoblade 3D or annihilate that Smash Bros. boot-up time. KrazyDashie 1,848 February 24, 2015 Share February 24, 2015 I like the idea of it. especially the amiibo features.... but... the thing is, why cant they just release the 3ds XL like the new one? I think they released the 3ds XL a little early. Panne 1,342 March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 oof, I want this now. But knowing Sega... That's just a menu theme... unless they were referring to the SNES styled n3ds it was being displayed on, because if the theme comes to america you can use your old 3ds, no reason to spen $200+ jut to get a $5 menu theme. ryuzaki 21 March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I have the new 3ds and it's a major improvement from my old XL. The speeds are noticeably faster. The c-stick isn't too bad, and i like how there is 4 buttons in back now almost like triggers and bumpers. I wish it wasn't just called "new 3ds" because it isnt like going from a ds to a ds lite, it's a whole new iteration of the console with 3d still a part. Definitely worth getting and i got 60 off when i turned in my xl Take action NOW; Not later!
CaptainDoubloon 857 March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 Personally, I'm getting tired of Nintendo remaking the 3DS. Whether it's making the 3DS larger or making it without the 3d (the 2DS), I just wish Nintendo would make an all new gameboy. One of the orginal points of the gameboy is to have a gaming system a person could carry around with them in a pocket. It doesn't feel very portable to me when it's the size of a tablet. SCS 7,538 March 20, 2015 Share March 20, 2015 The New 3DS sounds awesome, and it makes me glad I didn't buy the older 3DS when it came out. It's definitely something I'm gonna save up money for, primarily due to the LoZ games available for the 3DS.
