The Leaking Thread

A Black Circle

Recommended Posts

Sometimes, we just feel like we need to get thoughts out of our heads. Get them on paper HTML files, just to get it out. Welcome, this thread. Say anything you need to here, anything from defending Sonic '06 or ranting about feminism. This is a no-judgement zone. Anyone who tries to make this a debate thread will be swiftly reported without second thoughts. Just. Don't. I am really serious about this.

Might post here later, if need be.

i think people shouldn't make big deals about "mary/gary sues". It's not there character so they should just F off. If someone wants to make a overpowered alicorn, Demon or A God Character they have every right too. I thought the MLP Fanbase is supposed to be tolerant. So wither they like the character or not they should respect that that's what the person wants as a character and there nothing wrong with that

Isn't this basically another venting thread?

Being a huge MGS fan, I should be happy that Konami plans on making more games after Kojima's departure, but in reality that makes me absolutely terrified

- RainbowDash is the worst character from MLP:FiM. She is stuck-up, rude, and arrogant. I cannot stand her and she irritates me very easily. I was starting to like her a tad more, but after seeing Tanks For The Memories, I just lost what little respect I had for her.

Judging by 99% of your posts regarding the character...let's just say it's hard to lose what you never had

There's no problem with Mary-Sue characters in fan fiction, if you want to write a shitty fanfic everyone will hate, that's on you. But when it comes to RP, Mary-Sues are just annoying as hell and ruin the fun for the other players.

I am so tired of working too many hours. Pays good though, so I guess that's a plus. Still, I'd rather have more free time than extra money. I'm weird like that.

A debate is very close to starting; I can sense it. Refer to the first post to see what happens should you take it too far. I really just want this place to be as non-judgemental as possible, no matter how stupid someone's opinion is.

Honestly, I really can't help myself but ask... Just what on Earth were you expecting? When people's egos are hurt through indirect means (in this case when people attack ideas to which people are attached to), they are going to react. Telling people not to do so isn't going to stop them. Is it mature? No. Does it happen? Yes, and at the end of the day, that's all it matters. Not everyone is like that but it'll only take a few asshats to really ruin your day. That is, unless you know how to cope with that.

Anyone want to vent about things that may upset others but be spared from judgment? Look to a friend you can really confide in. If you have no such friend then I'm sorry to say that you're very much out of luck here. You could try opening up more to your closest friends but opening up vulnerably or being vulnerable in general means that there are no guarantees. For that, I wish you the best of luck.

I hate the amount of labeling that is going on in our lives nowadays. Troll, SJW, Feminazi, "Thug", neckbeard, libtard, rioters, bigot, terrorist, they all mean the same thing: someone you don't have to listen to, someone different from you. Someone you don't have to give the time of day because they're already lost, already part of the opposition. Screw them, right?

It's a very effective tactic. Dehumanize and "other" the other party and suddenly the expectation for reasonable discussion evaporates. Nevermind that the other party might not even be remotely related to whatever label that is being applied, it doesn't matter; as soon as the othering occurs, what they have to say doesn't matter. It's an infinite strawman, and it happens on all sides.

"Shut up SJW"
"Get out, troll"

"You're just a bigot"

"Learn to think for yourself, libtard"

Etcetera, etcetera.

You can put whatever you want in there. They could call someone a fingledorf, and as long as fingledorf means "someone who doesn't share my views" it's the EXACT same thing. It also causes the problem that is in full effect here, in my very post: it brings the discussion away from what's actually happening and instead about what words we're using. The only reason I'm posting this is because it's a vent thread, the fact that I have to even say all this is frustrating to the point of exhaustion.

You know, I think people throw around the term, "OOC" (which means out of character) way too much when criticizing stuff, specifically MLP. Whenever a character does something that's out of the ordinary or as a way to break down a character, it's instantly labeled, "OOC" even if the character learned from it.

Also, I'm not really big on how certain people criticize others on the internet. They go all AVGN except coming off as way more bitter and mean-spirited. Whenever a youtuber does something they will like, they will flame them to no end well justifying it as, "criticism." That's funny, I didn't know criticism was calling people, "dickwads," "elitists," "autistic," or "manchildren." I must have missed that day of critic school. Yeah that's not being a critic, that's being a dick.

I was expecting people to be reasonable and be able to think about what they're saying. Not everyone has a friend they can do this to, and maybe that friend is against the thing you need to say. This thread wasn't made for argumentative people, it was made as a safe haven FROM argumentative people.

Yeah, I know... The conceited and self-righteous permeate all cracks and crevices, especially on the internet. No matter where you run, they will always be there to tell you what's "right" for they have appointed themselves to be the arbiters of wisdom and justice.

Well, you do seem quite sincere in what you were trying to do. Speaking from personal experience, it is better to personally tend to those who suffer -- to personally tend to those who are repressed. May I suggest starting a Giving Advice thread in the Life Advice section? Or perhaps continue journeying through the forums and pick out these people if and when you pick up their repression and/or pain. That's what I try to do if I have energy to spare.

Or better yet, maybe you might have something you could share? I'd be curious to hear it.

I considered putting it in the Life Advice section, but I decided not to, because I knew other things would come of it. But the argumentative sector of the internet continually pisses me off. Especially since I'm an (mostly) conservative Christian. It really brings out the worst in these types.

That's interesting.

See, when people think "conservative Christian," they think about drunken, trigger-happy, uneducated, racist, homophobic, patriotic to cult-levels... I think you get the idea. On the other side you have liberals who are portrayed as just as if not even more conceited than the other group, who also act like the moral arbiters on everything they permeate into... Feminist hypocrisy would be the fine example I would say.

Again, is it right? No. Is it happening? Pretty obvious answer.

Know what your principles are and don't be afraid to discipline those who step out of line even if they are within your own ranks. In the end, extremism only works as a boon to the opposition.

-Pokemon is the Nintendo version of Call of Duty. The same thing rehashed over and over again.

Although, the fanbase isn't as bad as CoD.

-I couldn't write a good sentence to save my life.

-I don't understand the love for Spike. He's pretty uninteresting to me.

-Rarity's best performance was in Inspiration Manifestation. I loved seeing a dark side to her.

-Birdemic sucks. It's boring and stupid. When you're not watching the 'actors' get attacked by fake CGI birds. You're watching them talk and drive. It's not even so bad, that it's good. It's just bad.

-Black and white movies tend to put me to sleep.

My mom actually watches B&W movies at night because it doesn't keep her up.

Really? I get the "racist and homophobic" parts (I'm not) a lot, but never anything else. I see liberals as mostly, to put it blunt, weak. But, this isn't about that. I'm glad to see that some others see eye-to-eye in putting a stop to this spiral of argumentative madness.

I'm tired of bronies obsessing over the sexual orientation of MLP characters -- so...tired. For Pete's sake, why is that so darn important and get brought up so much? It's a unnecessary discussion that gets rehashed over and over again. Phew, O.K., I finally got that off my chest! ^_^

Then don't RP with them it is a simple as saying No.

I really honestly can't count the times I've either participated or read a really good RP that went to shit because someone didn't know how to make a decent, proper character and just generally pushed people away from the whole thing, including myself. It's not a "just say no" issue unless you're the RP master and are in charge of who gets to join and who doesn't.

Even when that constructive criticism is pointing out that the writer's character is a Mary-Sue? I thought you didn't like that?

Well not my problem.

And there is ways of pointing out the character has flaws without going he you're character is a "Mary-sue". You can Simply say things like you're OC dosen't have any flaws i think it would be Better and improve your character if you added some. Every Character has flaws. Yes this may be saying it is a mary sue but in a much nicer way and if they get offended well that's there problem becasue you were just giving them tips on to make there Oc better
