gaming What games should I try?

So I've recently hit a bump in games that can keep me interested for a period of time. Other than what play regularly (mostly League or Guild Wars), I don't have a lot of options. I mostly play sandbox/RPG's like Don't Starve and Terraria, and a few Action/Platformers like Rogue Legacy. I'm pretty open in terms of games, however most FPS's bore me after a few hours so stuff like Killing Floor 2 or pfffft.... CoD probably won't do me any good. And don't worry about pricing just recommend and I'll look into it.

Buy this game right now.

It's literally the best first person shooter ever made. And it's 20 years old.

Also you should check out Morrowind and Oblivion (not Skyrim that game is awful), Dark Forces 2, Battlefront 2 (GET THE XBOX VERSION). BioShock and Borderlands are also good franchises to check out if you're looking for newer things.

Majikoi.  It's absolutely hilarious.

You could also try Catherine or Bayonetta.  You could also try Medieval II: Total War.

If you have strong interest in history (or at least enjoy Civilization), I would recommend Paradox's grand strategy games. I can personally recommend Europa Universalis IV which takes place between 1444 to 1821 and you can play as pretty much any country (from Muscovy to Brandenburg to Ming to Iroquois to Mamluks to even seemingly very obscure ones like Ulm and the Knights). Unfortunately, Paradox is notorious for making bad tutorials so you will need to learn by watching Youtube videos. Is normal for one single game to last well over 30 hours if starting from 1444. Also, you may developed hatred towards Turks (err Ottomans) if you play this game. You will need quite a bit of dedication to even learn how the game works, but once you do it's very rewarding and is the best alternate history game in my opinion (among other Paradox grand strategy games). Personally, I could not go back to playing Civilization games because they seem so simplistic and boring now.

O man, this reminded me of Star Wars: Battlefront. I've played through some of Oblivion, but couldn't finish due to my PS3's Hard-drive frying X.X

You should play Pokemon White 2

I totally should. I have the first one but skipped the second, X and Y were ok.

K, Bayonetta is awesome, definitely on my list.

There's Dark Souls I and II, Borderlands series, Warframe, Battlefield 3 or 4 um...o3o yah other stuff xD Are you into like real-time strategy o3o Supreme Commander 1 or 2 are awesome :3 I have SupCom 2 with DLC (which is only one DLC).

Dark Soul's just seems frustrating to me XD. I get stressed enough from LoL. I've actually played through the second Borderlands it's really good.

Really awesome suggestions so far. I thought I'd give a little back and recommend a game since there were a few with RTS's. I'm sure some of you know of a game called StoneHearth. No not the card game. I've been following it for about 2 years and thought some of you might like it. It's in its Alpha stage but following the progress has been really awesome. :3 http://stonehearth.net/

Keep the suggestions rolling!

Dwarf Fortress. It is rather hard to look at, and has one hell of a learning  curve  cliff, but after that, it is a seemingly limitless and evolving experience. If you like micromanaging, its your thing. Plus, its free. Another game is Crusader Kings II, very similar to the Europa Universalis franchise.

Note: All games mentioned below are on steam, with the exception of Saints Row 1

X Universe ... well its hard to tell you specifically because of the titles. But basically, X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion prelude (I recommend the superbox though). Its a game with hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of hours of playability, with a super in-depth economy, and living universe. various ship classes, a multitude of quest types, etc. It is a flight sim type of game (though its really much more than that, but your perspective is mostly from a pilot seat). Building stations, trade fleets, flight wings, and when it comes down to it, an empire. Keep in mind the learning curve is very steep for newcomers, but oh so worth it when you get past that hurdle.

Starbound is a GREAT choice in terms of a sandbox similar to Terraria (they are NOT the same; they shine in their own respective ways).

Hyperdimension Neputnia: Rebirth1 That game has made me smile more than any other. When I first started playing it, it had me smiling for over 3 hours straight! from jokes, shenanagins, the right amount of fanservice, fourth wall breaking, and nonsense! its perfect. The combat is pretty good too!

Naturally, Skyrim is a good choice too, a great game, and plenty of mods to expand/add in stuff. I think the stuff people charge for the workshop mods is NONSENSE. I admit people need to make some sort of living, especially with the work that SOME of them put into their mods. But the sheer amount some charge ($1 for a single stupid sword which is just a copy of the League of Legends item?; no thanks, some of which I think are ripped from the actual game)

Definitely the Saints Row series, its a third person shooter, and you should get about 50~80 hours of entertainment from them. Definitely get the Game of the Year or "Game of the century" editions. I personally love the over the top humor/shenanagins.and lovable characters. Saints Row 2 is a bit too serious for my taste, but the story is still good. But as of Saints Row 3 and onwards is when things really step up for me.

Spiral Knights is worth trying, but not worth sticking around. The game has been at a stalemate, if not dying state for about a year now. They stopped adding any real content and at this point, its really just all cosmetic nonsense which are simply reskins of previous costumes. Its like playing some of the classic Legend of Zelda games, its really an experience.

Air Mech is the last game I can recommend for you, its like a unique take/hybrid on League of Legends/Dota2 and Starcraft. Its a great game that I can highly recommend if you like an RTS game. It has survival modes, Players vs. Computer. and PvP (though its mostly PvP). Only playing it can really give it justice.

I'm sorry, but I must note that you can buy both Morrowind AND Oblivion at the same price, if you know where to look. And they're both superior.

It depends on what systems you have, genre, and games you're looking for.

By Popular Games I know so far were

Super Smash Bros 3DS and wii-u (Fighting)

Pokemon X/Y/ORAS. ORAS is a remake of R/S/E if you haven't played any of those version on GBA

Legend of Zelda series - Well by Popular, It's OoT, but for beginners, it would be Original Legend of Zelda for the NES which is also available for 3DS, wii, and wii-u virtual console aka Zelda Classic (ZC for short). Probably for experts, It would be Zelda 2: Link's adventure which is one of the hardest games to clear. There's also WW HD for wii-u, skyward sword, and twilight princess for the wii as well.

Borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel

Final Fantasy Series. There are some Final Fantasy Games on steam, but Final Fantasy XI and XIV are pay-2-play I believe also you do need square-enix account for both FFXI and XIV. they're MMORPGs, but it's a great game in terms of community, activity, teamwork, and endgame contents

The only game that I wouldn't recommend and you shouldn't try would be Maple story in terms of the number of complaints, botters, and and how boring the game is. The Reason why because it's all about grinding, there are too many soloists going around, people take advantage of supporting class characters such as beast tamer, bishops, phantoms, and kannas, no endgame contents, lacking teamwork and pty leadership, foreign language such as spanish which makes it hard for spanish ppl to understand english, and of course party system was ruined by the new system even the party play areas for bonus exp per party members have been removed as well

Depends, what do you play on? PC? Console? Handheld? I get. It'd be easier to recommend games if I knew

PC mostly. I have a Wii U as well and I'm looking into the Ps4 now since I know I'm already going to get it when KH3 is released.
