I've watched the community but have been shy about participating for a long time. But I guess that's changing. Down the rabbit hole I go! How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I been watching since season one, thanks to my kids. It only took one episode for me to recognize how great the writing and world was—those things alone are enough to hook a writer, but the animation was also so fantastic. I have always been an anime/animation fan so MLP fit all the bills and then some. Now I'm a bigger fan than all my kids, ha! Well, I'm an author with 6 published novels under the name Natalie Whipple, and my newest novel, My Little Brony: An Unofficial Novel about Finding the Magic of Friendship is coming out next week under the name K. M. Hayes. I've always loved writing and reading and just good stories, so when I found MLP it was love at first episode. I've also had the awesome chance to write for a video game called Torment: Tides Of Numenera. Besides being an author, I guess I'd just say I'm a total nerd? I grew up watching anime (back when it wasn't as cool and accesible as it is now), and I also learned how to draw in anime style because I just thought it looked so cool and those stories captured me as a teen. Now I'm also majorly into Kdrama as well. I also love playing video games and am currently way, way into Guild Wars 2. I play mostly world vs. world and it's been fun to have and guild and all that. I'm also a huge fan of League Of Legends and watch the pro leagues religiously. The old school RPGs like the Final Fantasy franchise also had a really big impact on my writing. So yeah, that's me. My teenage daughters were also instrumental in me becoming a fan. Of course I did end up reciprocating as they are now Star Wars and Who fans. And I know exactly what you mean, the level of quality that one can find, if you search carefully enough, in MLP fanfiction out there is astounding, and always pushes me to attain the best level of quality that I can in my own work. Fimfiction as well is a rather wonderful site in that it simply blows most other fanfiction sites out of the water in how well-structured and organized it is.
