So i went online and found some stuff.

 

Although its mostly because its done for comedic childish purposes and he's somewhat ignorant on some games that i myself have played, like make it harder than it seems for comedic effect and throws childish jokes like "Penis" or "Fart" or "Ass" or" Shit".

 

I mean this might be targeted towards immature children, but that's what i would rate it. I mean both of them. I've also found some sites and videos that have the shared views. Although it was different in 2007 because gullible people existed on the net, and now it has sorta become a cult. Before the net got critical of content.

You know what's immature? Calling people sheep and saying they're dumb for liking something. Might I remind you what show a certain fanbase took a second look at even if they thought it was weird at first?

I don't care if you dislike AVGN, NC, Angry Joe, you don't go around saying people are immature children for liking them, that's not how it works.

Doug actually "hates" very few of the movies he reviews (I believe the only one he truly could find nothing redeeming in was Garbage Pale Kid's and he even asked fans of the movie to start up a chat with him about why they liked it, because it legitimately wanted to know it's appeal) and is just playing up the flaws for the humor value.

 

He's also a really nice guy and nothing like his character, TNC.

 

AVGN is much the same. He's known for treating his fans well and having a wife and daughter that he dearly loves.

 

If anything, I'd call Retsupurae the most guilty people in this thread because one of their videos led to an autistic girl getting Death Threats over nothing worse than being a bad LPer and they haven't made any effort to take the video down or curb it that I know of.

Well nothing gets done unless you criticize the content on the web. I'd say Somethingawful.com and Retsupurae is like divine judgement on that. Anything objectively wrong should be criticized for what it is. And i vote all for it.

Yeah, but my tone was somewhat personal and it got locked. So now i try to be more objective about this topic so that any can answer freely.

If one looks at a content, one can find faults in it. If its full of it its enough to look for its faults. And i am also backing it up with other people, many who feel just the same. Although its sorta taboo to say out loud, but it exists.

Awesome! I LOVE the Nostalgia Critic! Not as huge a fan of the Nerd, chiefly because he reviews games that I honestly can't even manufacture caring about, but I find him funny.

 

Anyway, Doug Walker is a guy I would love to shake hands with. He's funny and makes good points on his reviews and he loves movies like I do.

Not to mention that SA used to have a board dedicated to doxxing people and encouraging harassment of them called hell-dump that wore the fact they drove someone to suicide as a badge of honor.

The reason I know about it because a certain game developer who shall not be named here for fear of drama admitted they were a proud member and mourned it's passing.

So judging content and what needs to be called out is a good thing, to let people know in terms of getting critical of content, in terms of objective entertainment. Just like one sees on TV or Movies, the same works on internet.

Imagine movie actors. They get it too. Like i saw this Twitter case by Bill Maher a talkshow host, its bad but it exists. Its a risk people take when they go public. To blame it on criticizers should not be the case i feel.

You have to look at it this way, some people are more sensitive than others. The point is, they shouldn't HAVE to expect that shit. They can expect constructive criticism, not death threats and insults, I'm sorry to tell you, but that's unacceptable.

Except that they don't work on green screens and stuff, ok? They're not professionals, they do it for enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. They're not IGN or Gamespot.(Ironically, I find nothing "professional" about those garbage sites anyway.)

I'm pretty sure AVGN and Nostalgia Critic go more for a show than a review or critique. As in, most of their stuff is supposed to be exaggerated. This especially becomes more obvious when Doug gives is more honest thoughts in their own separate videos.

 

I'm not the biggest fan of them (Nostalgia Critic got less funny in his revival and I'm only seen AVGN's early videos) but I wouldn't say anyone who likes them are mindless sheep.

I didn't literally mean green screen though. It was more in terms of "Long long time work", and that's when i said... well they can but if it ends up like it does then it wouldn't matter to say the least.

 

There are some IGN stuff i like. Like the Re dub of FF13 or Street Fighter Re dub.

People have different tastes but just because one doesn't enjoy certain content doesn't mean it's objectively bad by any means. Of course you could talk about the more objective things like quality of video like resolution, lighting, colours, etc. but one form of humour isn't objectively better than another. After all, millions of people can't all be wrong. Same can be said about PewDiePie; I don't personally enjoy his content but I'm not going to claim it's objectively garbage as much as many people would like to believe.

Exactly. Its the lack of quality control which is why it exists on the net. If this was on TV it wouldn't be showned. Its because people there are more professional on what they expose the public too. So you are right in general.
