Ponyville was still able to wrap up Winter (though a bit late) without Twilight.

Saving the world is different from saving a backwater village like Ponyville. Celestia could've just as easily saved Ponyvillem and yanno  what? Maybe Ponyville wouldn't NEED saving so often if it weren't for Twi's antics bringing danger to the town, in the first place.

So Twi stimulates Ponyville's economy single-hoovedly? Riiiigh, and it's not as if Rainbow Dash's job as captain of the weather team in Ponyville doesn't get her enough bits, or most of all- Rarity's job, talent of finding gems, her generous nature, and her and making regulars of big names in other cities doesn't support Ponyville's economy on her own

 

Ever since Twilight Sparkle came to town, it's been a magnet for increased trouble since the first episode. Ponyville should have been wiped off the map at some point before Twilight Sparkle showed up, if it's in such peril so many times each year.
