gaming Opinions of the Kingdom Hearts series?

There are reasons to why i liked it. But i think the story is basically... J-Animation slash Disney and its really just unoriginal and just silly. But i will say when i first tried Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2 that the gameplay feel of it was pretty sweet in terms of transforming and slashing enemies. But i will consider it as a guilty pleasure. I honestly don't know how the series still are popular?

But you can say what you wish in terms of what you think of it ^^

I have not played much of it at all, but I did really like the first one. Now from what I can see the story has gotten very convoluted and scattered. The gameplay is awesome though so that is good. I am really looking forward to the third one whichever century that releases in. I feel like I should play the second one before that because I have heard it is much improved from the first.

It's my favorite game series that's not from Nintendo. I think it's a crossover that works and I'm so familiar with Disney characters. I actually think it's a better crossover than Fallout Equestria. And I actually prefer it over the Zelda series. It feels like Super Mario 64, or Galaxy with Disney characters.

I do like the idea of crossovers and alternate dimensions. But a cross over between Final Fantasy and Disney? I never did like Final Fantasy. I did like the combat of the second game, first one was a little clunky (from what I recall). I just like seeing new worlds.

There are so many worlds that I want to be in KH3, like the current ones. Like the Pixar movies or Princess and the Frog.

To be completely honest I want the game to have obscure worlds to explore like National Treasure (yes, I want Nicholas Cage to pal with Sora, Donald and Goofy), have the villains capture Kurt Russel's character Dexter (at least current age Kurt Russel as Dexter) from "The Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes". OR "The Cat From Outer Space"? More preferably the live action... action films.

The story is a big clustermess to begin with, why don't they just go all out?

It's one of my top five franchises. I can't get enough of it and I replay them fairly often. I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 to see how they finish the Xehanort story arc. It's been seven games coming. Xehanort is one of my favorite villains ever thanks to Dream Drop Distance. I won't spoil it but it blew my mind just how intricate his plot was.

I also felt Dream Drop Distance took everything that was good from the series and mashed it into the best game in the series. It was held back by the pet simulator BS somewhat but overall I couldn't get enough of how smooth the gameplay was. I loved how the Flowmotion basically forced them to create well-designed levels because it allowed you to go literally anywhere. Areas in each world had to be fairly large so you couldn't just jump over something and find what you want.

I heard they wanted to bring it back in KH3 but we'll see what comes of that. I hope they do for the same reason I stated above.

I love Kingdom Hearts. It's been a huge part of my childhood- I remember sitting with my strategy guide as my sister played KH1 & KH2. It was a lot of fun. I've played all the games, but I didn't care for Chain of Memories. I cried the moment they announced KH3 at E3. I have no shame.

Also, I really liked DDD. I thought it was really good, to be honest. Though the plot has become utterly insane.

Well I've been hunted and gang raped for saying this: I HATED KH1 and Sora!  Which given i love anything FF was

a huge let down to me,  now I loved the idea of jumping worlds and Disney and such but the over all story just was

a rare nerve for me.  Which in KH2 i did like the game,  had a more mature level (even with Sora in which I liked a bit

this time around)  and the game play was smooth,   at times the battles seemed a bit off in pace but KH2 is the better

of the games.

My... My username is a dead giveaway...

I'm hoping to change it to GoldenKeybladeFreddy soon. D:

But anyways, I love the game series and I feel it's rather underrated nowadays. Disney in my opinion keeps pretending it doesn't exist. I just feel that way nowadays.

Anyways, I say it's quite a interetsting franchise and idea of jumping Disney worlds, kinda changing the stories and interacting with the familiar Disney characters. I quite loved that since I'm a pretty big Disney fanatic. Though crossovering it with Final Fantasy...

...I don't know much of Final Fantasy but I kinda dislike some of the FF games. :/

Anyways, I'm really invested in the story of the games and characters too I suppose. The story and concepts of the games are pretty interesting and quite complex at times which I quite enjoy. Especially the concept of Heartless and Nobodies. I started drawing Heartless on all my art in art school when I little in 2nd or 3rd grade. (Maybe I was in 1st grade. Can't quite recall...)

In fact, what Kingdom Hearts 2 said about darkness changed my really perspective on light and dark.

I wasn't as afraid of the dark as I was before. (Though now I'm slightly more scared because I keep thinking about zombies and I try to calm down by imaging werewolves eating the zombies. Darn you my serve OCD!)

Though the first game I agree really carries on many flaws, I still enjoy the gameplay and story. I don't get why exactly Sora gets so much hate in the first game (I've seen people consider him the most hated character and I quite frankly don't understand this hate. He was fine in the first game though I prefer Kingdom Hearts 2 Sora.)

I've even been seeing Riku haters lately. :o

(Speaking of Riku, I keep thinking of Hatsune Miku)

Chain of Memories wasn't that great and wasn't exactly my cup of tea for me in my opinion but still wasn't bad I suppose.

Though I STILL can't get used to the cards in the gameplay! :o

It also didn't help that my big brother and I played Kingdom Hearts 2 before Chain of Memories...

Coded was kinda "meh" for me and wasn't as enjoyable for me really. And I didn't care for the story as much as the other games.

But (UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME!) I hate Organization III except for Roxas and Axel. COME AT ME HATERS!

Also, I agree with most people on KH2. I personally think Kingdom Hearts 2 is the abolsote best in the whole franchise so far until the third one comes out and did the best with the stories. I've always liked the first game, but it was really the second game that really sparked me and got me sold.

I hope the third game includes some of the newer Disney movies. I'm pretty excited about Frozen being involved.

But...

DEAR SQUARE ENIX, DON'T PUT STAR WARS AND MARVEL IN KH3! I BLOODY BEG YOU!

Oh, and I'm going to get SO SO SO much hate for this BUT:

...

...I like Kingdom Hearts better than Zedla...

...COME AT ME BRO!

In fact, what Kingdom Hearts 2 said about darkness changed my really perspective on light and dark.

Unfortunately, another minus for DDD was that it reverted to the old "Light = good, Darkness = evil" schtick, and even Riku ended up saying he wanted to turn his Darkness into Light (or something).

My brother and I hadn't played DDD yet... Whelp, darn you DDD! Darn you for the darkness = bad cliche'! BAD GAME BAD!

But in all seriousness, I feel that's bit of a shame that they went with that same old shtick/cliche' once more.

What difference is there really between light and darkness?

Other than darkness being scary like Mickey said.

There's there light aplenty, your shadow will grow more and more similar to in the first game when you battle the first boss as Sora of that giant heartless.

And the Spirit Dream Eaters (the good "enemies" in contrast to the Nightmare Dream Eaters) were also implied to be part-Light, subverting yet another Dark Is Not Evil opportunity.

OMG THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD! It was a great game at the time of its release and is still one of my top 10 game/series i've played! And, whilst everyone prepares for more Fallout 4 info and another COD trailer at E3 this year, im going to be sat in a corner, asking myself whether they're going to release a release date for KH3 and what worlds it will have in it (Pray for star wars and Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy)

I doubt there will be a release date for at least another year or two. The game hasn't even really started development past that little bit we saw at last year's E3 that wasn't supposed to even be shown.

Spirit Dream and Nightmare Dream Eaters? Those sound like the Death Eaters from Harry Potter (and me being a Potterhead.)

Hopefully Kingdom Hearts 3 doesn't subvert that golden opportunity or does something about it. It would be interesting to see what they can do about darkness and avoid the evil dark shtick at the very least.

The KH series has pretty much always been using the "darkness is evil" trope. Even when Riku was using it he was just being possessed or he was only doing it because he wanted to help Sora and knew the darkness best.

In spite of that, though, DDD is my favorite in the series. It did everything right (except the dream eaters which could have been left out of the game entirely) and I can't wait to see how KH3 builds on it since the creators have said they want to bring back some of the mechanics from DDD.

Actually, COM and KH2 went out of their way to preach that not all Darkness was bad, and it was done believably enough -- regardless of all of the Dark enemies out there.

It wasn't until BBS came along that the cliche started coming back, and then DDD just more or less made it concrete (and now the upcoming Unchained only looks to build upon it even more).
