gaming Would you buy the oldschool Pokemon games if they were available on 3DS?

Even now that they have been announced for 3DS EShop I still don't feel like buying them.

I'd rather have had a Pokemon Z announcement in the direct than the 3ds port of the the OG pokemon games.

Probably not. I always thought the gen 1 main series pokemon games were the worst out of all of them. I didn't enjoy them on the original console and I doubt I'd enjoy them on the 3DS. Maybe if they're decently priced.

Guess which country is selling RBYG bundles (with a map and magnet) for $13 each, while the rest of the world pays full prices?

Sod on all you neighsayers, Yes they suck compared to the newer versions tech wise, but I don't believe they were released for people to complain about having to hit start, be slow, grind, etc. They were released for people young and old to experience where pokemon all began, the very four (unfortunately green is country exclusive, sodding lovers get four games and a limited ed box set while we only get the three and nothing else) games that spawned continuous iterations of journeys into the pokemon world. To go back to the roots and enjoy the things you loved and remake the memories we all loved about the first games. Slag, you know what the best thing for me personally about this announcement was? That thursday Nov 12th, months after direct was halted in effect of the passing of one of the most brilliant minds in the industry, a nintendo direct randomly pops up, announcing a virtual re-release of three games I'd gotten for my birthday, on the 16th anniversary of the day I'd received them, popped them open and ultimately began my love for pokemon. Talk about an uber present for my 26th birthday than the company that made the games I go for my 10th birthday announcing a re-release of those very games. Yeah I could always grab either my special yellow ed. bundle gbc or the special ed. g/s/c gbc, or my gba/gbasp, or my n64 and slap them in and play them that way (n64 makes dex filling impossibly easy), or hop on to a site like vizzed and rom the sod out of 'em, but I'd rather see what'd be like to play something from my childhood on something I'm more familiar with as an adult.

Yes I plan on getting all three. For nostalgia's sake as to see what the difference of 16 yr tech wise is with playing.

No thanks. If you really wanted them, you can just emulate them. I'm not a fan of the first few games anyway.

Well, past me, I totally just want to let you know that I'm probably gonna end up buying Yellow, just to have, when I get the funds lol

I'd wish Nintendo but every old game on their consoles.

Then we would have a wider range of choice rather than just the original Pokemon, they would probably sell more copies if they put all the old games on the 3DS, it would also be fun to play older games too.

I would most definitely pick up the games when they are available for the 3DS. I would pick up Yellow because it was the first Pokemon game I played and it would be pretty cool nostalgia from back in the day.

I'd definitely go for it. I love the nostalgic feeling you get when you play an old game, especially when they restore it and update it for the latest console. Feels like you're getting it brand new back then.

The cool thing about the upcoming rereleases is that you can trade with a friend via wireless.

No more link cable stuff is amazing.

The uncool thing is that you can't trade by yourself, or at least I don't think you can.

Because what I did to catch all 150 on Red is just use my brother's copy of Blue.

Granted, I could do the same now. Get someone else's 3DS with Blue on it and trade there.

But it would have been nice if you bought all three games and was able to trade within the same console.

You can't stick Blue and Red into one Game Boy Color, so it makes sense that you have to hunt down an extra Game Boy and Link Cable to trade.

But considering that these games can be on the same console and the games will probably cost about $4-6, I would have actually considered buying both Blue and Red so that I could do the 150 challenge again and keep it permanently on my 3DS rather than waiting for the battery in my original Red to die.

It would, however, had to have allowed me to trade between myself.

That would have been a nifty feature and an incentive to purchase two games. Knowing that I can never trade among myself, I see no reason to buy another. At least with the original copies, if you owned both Red and Blue, you could still trade someday by finding another Game Boy or upgrading to a GBA.

With the 3DS, since they're digital, if I bought two, it's not like I could just stick it into my old 3DS and trade with my New 3DS. Once I buy Blue and Red, it's stuck on whichever 3DS bought it forever with no way of transferring the game to another 3DS for a quick trae. I mean, I know you can transfer games, but it's difficult to get it back. Don't you have to wait like a week to transfer data between 3DS and you can't transfer from an old model to a new one? Like, you can't take back the data you inserted into your New 3DS from your OG 3DS back into that same OG 3DS, but you could inserted into a different OG 3DS, but then it couldn't go back to that New 3DS? It isn't as convenient as swapping a cartridge in and out.

Bummer.

With these games now confirmed for the 3DS and coming next February, I can safely say that I will be getting at least one or maybe two of these games. I may pick of Pokemon Blue and Yellow, Yellow because I feel it is by far the best of the 3 with show accurate sprites and whatnot and Blue because it was the first one I ever played. Super nostalgia with that one. My only gripe is the somewhat steep $10 price tag, since the other Gameboy games on the 3DS shop are only $4. The ability to actually trade Pokemon with others is pretty awesome though and helps make up for it a bit.

So all in all, I am excited for these to be released! ^___^ Haven't played the originals in years.

Pokemon Red, Pokemon, Blue, and Pokemon Yellow. Those old Gen 1 games that blew the gates of success in the Pokemon Franchise wide open with 10 tons of dynamite. Unfortunately, transferring from G1 to G2 (Gold & Silver) was never made possible, back in the 90's so the classic Pokemon from those beloved oldschool games could never travel through time and wind up in Pokemon X, Y, or ORAS, after a lot of pain of trading up through each generation- only with the right equipment- specific consoles, cables, ect. So what say you guys to Nintendo putting the original Red, Blue, and Yellow back on the market for the 3DS, tweaked only with the ability to deposit Pokemon you obtain there into Pokemon Bank, so they're able to be passed into newer gen games?

I might buy a few. Mainly the ones I've played as a child. But I would probably not play them. See what I like to do. Is buy the retro games than play them on 1080p (Or close to 1080p) emulators. See I feel Nintendo doesn't do this because they know emulators exist. And can offer a better experience. So in fear they wouldn't make their money back. They don't risk putting the money in making them playable on the virtual console system.

Yes! Definitely! That would be a perfect world :) I sure wish they could do that... because it would be absolutely amazing. Ever since I started playing the 3D Pokemon games, I wondered how awesome it would be to play the games that started it all.
