What would you feel like if MLP became 3D animated?

Job opening for me! Ha

I think that it would really depend on the animators, they'd still have the wonderful voice-work and writing, so that's two tics in favor of. The real advantage behind the show's style is the amount of expressiveness you can give a 2D character. Though truth be told it's pretty much the same process for 3D.

This could be really good or fail miserably depending on the style. I think 3D style that *might* work would be the same type of animation used in certain scenes of Show By Rock.

If that was done correctly with ponies, that could be pretty cute, potentially.

It can be done really well (see Nick TMNT), but it can be done horribly too. That being said, I think the show really has something special with the current style so I don't see a need to change. Maybe we'll randomly get a taste of it in a manic Pinkie episode or something.

Absolutely not. Not allowed. It's allowed for a joke like in the Simpsons where Homer gets stuck in the 3rd dimension (totally a Pinkie Pie thing.) Imagine if every episode of the show looked like Source Film Maker... [shudder]

I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah?

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

I could live with it as long as the quality and color of the animation was on par with what we have no; and what we have now is QUITE good. I'd hate to lose it. >_<

NO!!!

The show's excellent use of flash animation was was one of the initial things that got me interested. The characters were much more fluid than most flash cartoons I've seen before. I've also worked with flash in the past so I know what extra work is needed to make the movement so fluid.

As for 3D animation- You gain a dimension, yet seem to lose a dimension at the same time. Expressiveness seems to take a hit in 3D animated characters. Kind of like bad plastic surgery. (I hope you get what I mean, I can't think of how to explain it) A lot of the movement always seems slightly "off" also.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

Well if you mean Friendship Is Magic then no, but maybe another MLP generation in the future could work with 3D.

I think the 3D designs worked well with the new Alvin and the Chipmunks show so I don't see why not in an MLP show

To be honest, it would be a fun change. I like 2D animation but I do have a soft spot for 3D animation and seeing ponies and EQG in glorious Maya-sculpted-and-animated-goodness would be fantastic.

On a side note, to everyone that's shitting on SFM, it can be a great creative tool if done correctly. It's like G-Mod, a lot of people use it to make stupid stuff but you do have the special gems that really show how deep the programs can be. SFM and those free 2D programs are good for a simpler UI and controls but don't have as much diversity and power as the industries' standard for animation (such as Maya and Flash.)
