general media PCs vs. Macs

I prefer PCs (will be referred to as Windows from this line onward) to Macs. My choice is a bit biased, because I grew up with Windows, but I find Macs aren't quite as powerful as Windows can be. Macs are not really good for customising parts and cost a huge amount of money, whereas Windows can have custom parts installed into the tower, they're better for gaming in terms of performance and cost considerably less than Mac hardware.

Also, this may be a tad nitpicky, but I can never seem to get used to Mac shortkeys. The only time I use them now is when I'm at college; the editing suites all have them.

If you're a business or gaming user, PC.

Home & Media use, Mac.

:please:

But personally, I use both, and I prefer the PC since I can do all my development and gaming stuff on it. I mostly use my iMac for Skype, iTunes, Movies, Music or making music.

PC with Linux distro for ultimate customization and power! :D

Usually for me it goes PC with dual boot Windows/Linux. I use Linux for everyday stuff, like email, internet browsing, documents, some music DAWs(limited use), and programming. I use Windows mainly for music DAWs, games, and occasionally Skype.

I'll admit, Apple does have some cool stuff out there, and a nice design, but Windows and Linux do everything I need them to do.

Because I like customizing Linux.... xD

My first Mac was an iPad. While the concept was cool, it didn't take long until it poisoned the PC market with something they called Windows 8. By that alone, makes me not like Mac.

I am a PC person, forever!

I strongly prefer PC. Looking past Apple's business practices (which could be a whole other topic on its own) and putting aside their "Apple tax," I just don't like how Apple products look, and I hate the OS. PC is so much easier to customize, both on a software and hardware level. Want more performance? Upgrade the part(s) you need rather than paying thousands of dollars for an entirely new computer. Want to keep your i9 or Threadripper from thermal throttling? Upgrade the cooler instead of praying Apple's next computer actually takes cooling into account. Part of your computer dies? Order a new part and replace it yourself instead of sending it to an Apple repair store and paying an ARM and a leg (get it? Because Apple is switching to ARM processors soon? Haha I'm not funny).

Also RGB.

A friend of mine worked overseas in Ireland for Apple about a decade ago. The first thing he was taught to hate was Norwegian consumer laws. Which is funny because Apple is notorious for shitty business practices, and so would have to follow our laws or they wouldn't be able to sell their overpriced junk over here.

PC all the way.

I have had very limited experience with a Mac, but the only thing they have going for them is the OS that may appeal to some people (I can just use Linux if I do not want Windows or cannot run Windows not-10 on some PC). The hardware is way overpriced and not that reliable, with Apple actually putting in effort to prevent people from repairing their devices. Screw them.

PC all the way.

Overpriced, but always good quality!

If the PC has something, it is average quality.

Mac all the way! (wait, I am a PC guy)

Not that reliable though, at least how Louis Rossmann (a guy who owns a Mac repair company) says - pretty much every laptop model has some stupid design flaw that makes it fail faster. Add to that soldered SSDs, chips that like to fail, but Apple made sure they are impossible to buy etc.

You want really well-built computer? Buy a server. Hell, it probably would not be more expensive than a Mac... There are also ruggedized laptops.
