Why so few Twilight episodes?

It seems like ever since the end of season 3 Twilight has gotten very few episodes that focus on her as the main character of that episode. Do the writers have no more ideas for her?

I'm not really sure...She is the main charicter and i find it strange that she dosent have many episodes about her.

Maybe in the future there will be more twilight episodes!

This started in Season Two with the change of how letters were handled allowing FiM to become more of an ensemble show. I prefer quality over quantity and Amending Fences damn near nailed it for me leapfrogging over all other Twilight episodes and even eclipsing some Rarity episodes I enjoyed quite a bit. I'll take less Twilight eps if they are that good.

Twilight's usually the star of the show in all of the two-part premieres and finales. The others are always involved, but the main focus and conflicts are all centered primarily around Twilight. She certainly isn't lacking screen time or development, so I don't think it's a huge deal if she gets only one or two singular episodes of focus in a season. S4 had Three's a Crowd, arguably Twilight Time, and even Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3 all of which had heavy amounts of Twilight. S5 only really has Amending Fences so far, but we're only halfway through the season. I'm sure there's lots more adorkable to come, just be patient.

Aside from the fact that most of the two-parters are Twilight-focused, she still tends to play a critical role in most of the neutral episodes. If the show was more any more focused on Twilight, there probably wouldn't be a "mane six." There would only be a mane one.

Pretty much this. She usually gets the lead role in almost all the premieres and finales, while still getting a few normal episodes in between where she either has a lead role or is important to the episode

If we need a pony that needs more Focus it's actually Applejack. And i say that as a guy, who loves to see Twilight Sparkle on the screen.

For the record Twilight is my favorite of the mane six.

 

I for one feel Twilight doesn't need a lot of episodes focused on her, after all she is the center of the elements. When the elements are used the magic from the elements channels to twilight and her element. So she is already a large part of the show being the center of the elements allowing them to be used.

 

Also she is the one that brought the mane six together, with out her the group wouldn't be anymore then acquaintances. On top of that she is a favored pupil of Celestia, the ruling power of Equestria and as far as we know possibly one of the most powerful alicorns. Her brother was the captain of the royal guard and is now a prince while Twilight herself is now a princess with a castle and an official title.

 

A final note, she has two movies where she is the protagonist. 

 

Over all twilight has so much going for her that she doesn't need anymore episodes focused on her, she's at the center of every mane six episode as well. What they need is more focus on the other mane six and allow them so time as the center of the mane six for some situations instead of Twilight always being the top mare of them all.

Pretty much, complaining that twilight doesn't have enough focus is much like the 1% asking for tax cuts XD

 

Twilight has had plenty of focus this season and TONS in the series. Castle sweet castle had her as a central figure of the plot, amending fences was a twilight episode, she's been a constant voice of reason character for others, and Starlight glimmer seems to be stalking twilight and twilight alone.

Now, lets look at Applejack: ZERO episodes. Zero. Not even being a focus character like twilight in other episodes, AJ has had to make due with co-starring in other characters episodes like Mane six episodes or as support for the CMC in appleloosa's most wanted.
Heck, fluttershy only has had one episode that featured her heavily too in Make new friends but keep discord, and that's mainly a discord episode anyways.

The better question is : why applejack didnt get more love? Her episodes are not amazing as other mane 5 in past 4 seasons and get zero episode in the 1st half of ss5. Maybe the lack of some wacky traits make her less interesting for writers to invest (even Spike had a episode) cuz the most level-headed one usually get less attention compare to some crazy characters or mysterious one.

 

I hope we can have a episode where Applejack finally has some desires outside her family's sake

The thing about Twilight is that shes already gone through so much of a transformation. As the main focus of the series, she has gone from anti-social bookworm to the Princess of Friendship. In terms of character development, I feel that she is close to her full potential, although the writers keep surprising me with interesting developments for her like in Amending Fences.Other characters (like the CMC) still have a lot of potential for character development, and so I am not surprised that a potential "Twilight episode" is replaced with episodes for other characters.

I wouldn't think so. Twilight appeared in every single episode of Season 1. And personally I would like to know more about the equestrian universe instead of a whole season based on one character. But that doesn't mean we need to not have a Twilight episode! Twilight is a great character just like all of the other mane 6!

Does it really matter where in the season she gets episodes so long as we can look at a the whole season (which still isn't finished) and see that she got some? Her episodes weren't until the second half of season 2 either.

Might be nice if Twilight got a few more slice of life episodes to go alongside those milestone episodes, but she also has been the focus of several movies already as well the upcoming Friendship Games and Pony film in 2017 from what is known. She gets a fair amount of screentime love as is.

 

Frankly I would rather have have the staff tell the stories they want to without worrying too much about character focus or balance.

 

The better question is : why applejack didnt get more love?

 

Marketing.  Applejack has somewhat of a limited appeal compared to some of the other Mane 6.

 

But perhaps Applejack may be one of the difficult characters to write for though.

Hasbro wants sells, but they keep ignoring business ponies... (humans in this case.) If Applejack and Rarity were real, first THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!!! :D Second, I don't think they would appreciate being ignored and would create their own TV show which will be a success because Rarity would actually care about how the toys look.

Honestly, the entire Friendship games line of Toy designs (Which will end up being how they look in the show) is pretty terrible.

Most of them are just a garble of paint splatters it looks like :/

rarity's is the only one I really like.
