A polite question; Did you see the footage of what Faust said (I haven't) or are you just going off of the EQD summary? I never bothered getting to the truth of things, but I kind of thought that EQD's take on it *might* be misleading. I can see Seth or whoever misrepresenting things thinking it'd get Faust more sympathy (when for some of us, it's had the opposite effect).

I don't understand this. Since when anyone, even children send request letters to Hasbro in attempts to change FiM? More screentime of Derpy and removing Trixie is a big blow there. My opinion? Might as well add me to one of those "bad" people because I'm glad they do destroy such letters. Let Hasbro make FiM how they want it to go until they completely done with FiM.

 

So what's next? A 7 year old girl going request to remove Sunset Shimmer and don't bring back Dazzlings but should focus on Vinyl and Octavia getting more screentime and dialogues? No one here would know how angry I would feel if my favorite girls gets more of or entirely wiped out from the show/movie.

I wrote to Hasbro back in 1986 in response to Optimus Prime dying, and I wanted him back in the show as Season three was lacking the gravitas that he brought.

 

I actually wrote Congressmen and celebrities continuously throughout my childhood. I'm 38 and I still do and so do my kids (tweets and emails are a thing). Writing to companies is not uncommon as a school writing assignment.

 

I am dubious about the authenticity of this letter, but I have seen some dumb ass replies myself. I wonder if anyone has anyone thought to do a public records search on the party that signed the letter or forward the image to Corporate Governance at Hasbro?

I stand corrected. I am no longer dubious since I can validate that that the letter is legit. Anyway, I just shot an email and an InMail out to Kathy Page, Stephen Davis, and Barbara Finigan at Hasbro.

I would believe she said something to that effect. She has made a lot of statements and taken a lot of actions in the past to take jabs at Hasbro and garner sympathy. Fan wise, people love her because she tries to stand for all fans, but professional wise... Let's just say there is a reason her shows are not getting picked up by any network. Probably the first major move she did that really pissed Hasbro off was helping Mane6 when Fighting is Magic got a C&D order. While on the surface many of us can easily think "oh that was nice of her to help them out!" in reality it's VERY unprofessional. You don't assist people who literally just got a cease and desist from your former employers, it just looks bad on you to future employers.

It's possibly something to one of those effects. Sadly this is how a lot of our more "deranged" community members feel things need to get done. They will stoop to extreme means to get what they want. If this is some plot by a pissed off fan who just wants to stick it to Hasbro for not giving them their way, and they ever read any of this thread I wish to at least leave them this message:

 

You are literally the type of fan that gives the entire fandom a bad stereotype. You need to learn to just accept that you do not own the show and therefore do not control it. You may be gaining support through other fans who are naive enough to not dig deeper but at the end of the day you're not doing anything positive for anyone, you're just exploiting a situation to fuel an agenda that will not be fulfilled. Guess what? This is going to accomplish nothing except making more fans pissed at Hasbro, which will do nothing. Hasbro is not going to suddenly start taking your suggestions. You got your nice little pitty party letter from Lauren Faust and helped her damage her career further, why not lay this to rest?

Yeah well I think they should really leave Hasbro to the decisions and not protest about it.

 

I've actually emailed M.A Larson again. To talk to him about this. He's the only staff member I have direct contact with through my Email address. Some companies, that aren't really active anymore, such as Interplay and Mastertronic(They are only really active through new systems that make them less famous) would allow players to mod their games now, yet Hasbro does not allow the kind of fanworks and they will send a C&D to people who rip them off shamelessly even if they are trying to express that they are fans.

 

You know, in the old days, you could say Codemasters was an outlet of Hasbro, as in an Outlet not directly owned by the company but has associations. And so was FASA, they were actually good, as they did Micro Machines, Shadowrun and Battletech. They wouldn't care if you ripped them off.

 

Like I said though, screaming at Hasbro by faking your opinion by pretending to be a 10 year old girl's mother isn't going to get you anywhere. Why would Hasbro be involved in an unsolicited letter scheme anyway? The letter was either fake or real, but if it was real, the 10 year old girl was probably a ruse.

 

Anyways, I really am skeptical of it.

And if it did happen, I'm sure plenty of other people have sent letters like this to Hasbro. Why is this story the only one that's being told? I'm sure dozens of other stories similar to this could have gone "viral."

I have a little cousin around that age, she is aware of the brony fandom and she isn't in anyway disturbed by the fact that grown men ,and in my case women, are watching this T.V. show about pretty pink pastel ponies, so maybe this little girl ALSO knew about bronies and that's why it might seem like a hoax. The little girl must have liked derpy a lot   and hated trixie.

And maybe the person who posted it on reddit forgot to post it in the MLP section. Just a thought.

I keep going back and forth between websites that have VERY different reactions. I've previously stated that I have a Reddit account(but rarely comment on the MLP subreddit), where most of them believe it happened. There's also Equestria Daily which believes it happened, but this site believes it didn't happen. It also happens to be the only one I've commented on (so far).

Just a brony that wants more sympathy on how Muffins was axed for a few seasons or isn't given the treatment he thinks deserve. Why would a mother keep on trying to prove this is real by putting up those pictures of the letters and her daughter's bedroom? Someone wants a case where there is no case for emotional damages (money) because you know Hasbro is rich?

 

I remember this kind of lie on the internet to spread fame for the poster for being 'an hero' like a friend logging in on the original poster to say the original poster died fighting a mugger to protect his sister and sympathy and honors spoken by other posters.

I decided to open the door to discussion on Reddit. Most people were farily neutral about it, except for maybe one comment. A comment from one of the MODERATORS compared doubt in the story to "believing that lizzard people control the government."

 

 

They never showed the initial letter. So I am willing to bet that they are spinning the story to make it more in their favor. At the end of the day they went pretty far out of their way to try and get people to believe it which only makes me more suspicious. If their goal is not to just fuel an agenda why are they going through such lengths? Why would someone who has NEVER posted on the Mylittlepony reddit post this there? Anyone can make this kind of crap up, and I suspect within a few weeks someone else is going to just try and purposely get one of these form letters from Hasbro to do it all over again.

 

Doubting the story I do not think is even comparable to "lizard people controlling the government". Look at the brony fandom objectively for a moment: how quickly do they jump on rumors and hoaxes? No not even the brony fandom, but the internet in general. Remember when Justin Beiber fans fell for the cancer prank and shaved their heads? Bronies have jumped on rumors before getting all the facts, or sprung on something without paying close attention. Some examples I can recall just off the top of my head:

 

• EquestriaDaily accidentally posting a pornographic picture of Derpy from Pokehidden's blog because they did not view the full size image.
• MyLittleHP hoax, where EquestriaDaily jumped on a rumor that HP was making an MLP themed laptop line only to discover later that it was just a random person on Deviantart doing mockups because no one bothered to check the source.
• People jumped on board and donated over $75,000 to the Michael Morones fund before ANY kind of confirmation that it was legitimate (thank god it was).
• Several fake charities have been made and targeting bronies that have made off with the cash.

So it's safe to say that being skeptical when it comes to things that are claimed within the brony fandom is just being smart.
