You are with your friends and one of them suggests that you should watch the greatest non pony movie trilogy what movie trilogy comes to mind .

It must be a set of 3 movies only they can be part of the larger series but only if the 3 movies stand out from the rest of the series

  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy
  • The Star Wars IV-VI trilogy
  • It's not really a trilogy but The Man With No Name trilogy
  • The Evil Dead trilogy

Definitely the Iron Man trilogy. Sure, I'd have to sit through the second one, but, honestly, it would be worth it. That's because afterwards, of course, is the third one. My friends aren't really big Marvel fans, so maybe they would rather watch something else. The Iron Man movies are what I would pick, personally, though.

-Lord of the Rings

-Star Wars (the original trilogy)

-Indiana Jones (I like to pretend #4 never happened, so it's a trilogy)

Those would probably be my favorite movie trilogies.

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (2001-2003)

The Lord of the Rings is the only movie trilogy that I can think where each installment is just as good as the other.  Other have come really close, but there's always a weak link or the trilogy just isn't as good as The Lord of the Rings.

Honorable Mentions:

  1. The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)
  2. Toy Story Trilogy (1995-2010)
  3. Star Wars: Original Trilogy (1977-1983)
  4. The Godfather Trilogy (1972-1990)
  5. Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy (1999-2005)
  6. Spider-Man Trilogy (2002-2007)
  7. Back to the Future Trilogy (1985-1990)
  8. The Matrix Trilogy(1999-2003)
  9. The Hobbit: The Motion Picture Trilogy (2012-2014)
