critique wanted New Art Style CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WANTED

Hey there! I Used a slightly different style for my latest art piece and would really appreciate some constructive criticism! Thank you! Please do not feel that you will hurt my feelings. I can take it .

It`s really cute, and stylish, I like it a lot, you surely have a certain style :
- the palette of colours is awesome
- all that needs an improvement it`s the expresion, 
- the style, the ears, the face, the hair, all are natural and well put :3

Overall,......... and it`s the first piece of art i see from you,  it`s great
I`m excited to see what will you draw next, cuz with this one, you got me intrigued

Some of the lines could do with a little tidying up (like those at the base of the horn) but other than that, its a very good rendition of Rarity.

I agree with Malinter on the lines though. Don't worry, I'm still struggling to get good, clean lines, and it's especially hard since I don't have a tablet yet (at least, not one that I don't have to rent from my school every few days). So yeah, a lot of us are in the same boat XD

Thank you. I will try and tidy up some of those lines. Renting a tablet from your school must be a pain. I do all of my work on my ipad with my fingers so those lines are always tricky.

Also this is a more personally view but I would say not to add a Line at the end oh her horn so it feel more connected  to her forehead

and it seems you are using one layer for your liner work, that works well if you are using one color but sense you want to make the hair and the body different in colors. So making line work for the hair then the body on a  different layer then touching up on them both before merging them would be helpful. Just so if you make a mistake you have less to fix up ~

 

Tho that all depends what kinda drawing program you are using.

I love the style and its coloring ~ Oh my and the eyes are adorable <3

I see what you mean by not adding that final line to the horn. It makes a lot more sense than what I have done. I am currently fixing it up. 

Okay. I think I understand what you mean. I will try to do blending on different layers before Merging the fields. Are there any areas this mistake is really obvious? 

 

I use sketchbook for the ipad nothing fancy

It doesn't look bad, in fact you did a great job; I'm just not used to seeing deviations from the canon of proportion.

you did rarity great. only things i would think need any changing is the position of the horn, it needs to be centered more. and the line of the throat should be a little bit further ahead. but thats just me :3

also the ear might be a bit too b ig, i used to do this too. But ther pony will end up looking closer to a donkey if the ear is too big

It looks good in my opinion, although I am a good bit nit picky with things I'll note, frankly... I apologize if this hurts your feelings or seems rude at all. I'll hide it behind a spoiler, since I did mention quite a few things, oops...

 

 

Ah, the main thing that I would note is how you did the lines with the hair. There's a couple that stand out more so than others, and don't blend well with the rest, and of course there's the issues with the lines. That, and it might suit to move the horn to be a bit more to the left to give it the appearance of being in the center of the forehead, and I don't know if this is part of the style or not, however I can't really tell where the light source is coming from. However, I do like how for a good bit of your lines it seems friendlier in a way with how they're done, and how the character is perfectly recognizable and true to her in show appearance. A couple tips and tricks would be to plan the light source's location before you start adding value/shading and lighting, and flipping the image to check if it looks alright to you flipped. You can take note of any issues more easily that way. And a last note, if you desire to keep longer ears and such they generally work out without looking donkey like at all if you make them wider too.

You are really right about the horn. That should really be moved. Thank you. 

Maybe the ear is a bit dramatic. I will also alter that, As for the throat, I will experiment a bit with it.  That is a bigger alteration but I will see what I can do! I really cannot express how thankful I am for your critique! I have seen some of your work and really admire it!

Thank you so much for your input. I can not express how much i appreciate it. there is no need to apologize. Every point you brought up is quite valid. I admit Her mane lines are quite sloppy. I will try to be more consistent with that for future pieces. I am not really sure where to start on fixing this piece. I have altered the horn a bit. Though I did not change the lighting. I need a bit more practice i guess. haha. Thank you oh so much!!
