gaming TF2 Pet Peeves

I got a few scenarios that happen way too often, all medic related stuff. All of them happened to me at least once, such is the struggle of being a medic main.

  • You are a medic, on fire and low on health. You make a run for a health pack as a scout on your team calls for medic, running straight past you and to the health pack. You make a desperate run for the health pack, but it's too late, the scout has already recovered his 3 hp and ran off. You then burn to death and wonder why you even play medic.
  • You are on the last point on offense, 45 seconds left and you got an uber ready for the ultimate push. You look for somebody on your team to charge and find a heavy in a firefight about to be destroyed. It's finally your chance. You leap towards them and press m2 like your life counted on it, only to be greeted by a confused F2P starring at you, wondering why you and him are blue. You search around for anyone else to uber but it's too late, you've wasted it and the enemy team now wins.
  • When medics don't pick up their mediguns after dying, seriously people, PICK UP YOUR MEDIGUN!!! Sometimes even when I tell people on they mic they just ignore me and continue about their business. Drives me nuts.
  • Soldiers and demos that get you killed while you're using the quick fix. I don't know how some of these people mess up rocket/sticky jumps so bad sometimes.
  • Not medic related but the Phlog. I don't think I need to explain more.
  • When people don't stay still when you're trying to hit them with the crossbow. Stop being so fidgety and let me heal you pls.
  • Heavies that follow you around and keep spamming medic, wanting you to be their pocket. I'm a strong independent medic who don't need no heavy so stop asking pls.

I could post more but I've already written enough as it is. Despite all this, medic is still fun for me :v

  • Somebody made a Team Service Announcement on that.
  • Oh Celestia that would be the worst thing ever.
  • So you get the uber? Huh. Never knew that.
  • Heh.
  • HEH.
  • HEEEEEEH.
  • HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH.

A pet peeve of mine on Medic is when scouts keeps asking me for heals. I heal them and they ask me to keep healing them when there are more important classes to heal. You're a scout. You die easilyHaving a medic isn't going to help you.

-Somebody on the other team in a Skeeal server being salty at you because he was a spy and kept backstabing you so you changed to Pyro to flame him up. He calls it "Rage Pyro". I call it "Adapting to Your Environment".

And yes, I spelt Skial wrong to circle-jerk.

Oh-hoooo. A TF2 thread? Noice.

So.

  • Phlog Pyros: They're the worst.
  • Being Medic and pocketing a Soldier, which then jumps away, leaving you to be preyed on by the Bird-Scouts.
  • People killing: dancing people, Hoovies, friendly Engies and friendlies in general.
  • People capping on Hightower.
  • People being a jerk to people for not pushing the objective.
  • Spawncampers.
  • Good deadringer Spies.
  • Mini-sentries.
  • Engies on Hightower.
  • Friendly Pyros that don't know how to press the right mouse button when a team-mate is on fire.
  • Pyros that don't know that a shotgun is a close- to mid-range weapon.
  • People who kill me when I'm using the Rancho Relaxo in a really weird spot.

There.

Medic is a mysterious class to main. You are the most under-appreciated but most powerful class. You are technically the least engaged class in the game but the most important one too. It's truly a roller coaster of a class and maybe that's why I like it. The world may truly never know though.

I haven't had any PVP Peeves, but I already well know the current ones here. I've been mostly playing on MVM. And boy do I have a lot of pet peeves there.

Most of the classes that people play don't do their jobs:

  • Scouts don't pick up money, milk or mark targets with the Fan O'War.
  • Way too many shit show Soldiers.
  • Pyros die too much because Scout doesn't use his milk at all.
  • Demos are ok but become terrible when DemoKnights are around.
  • Heavies, not enough around.
  • Engineers are often terribad. Some don't even pick up their sentries to pull away Sentry Busters.
  • Medic's should have the Kritzkrig or the ubersaw.
  • Huntsman snipers should just quit the game. (Mostly the one's who won't listen or change classes.)
  • Spies... never any good ones around.

Miscellaneous pet peeves in MVM would be that players don't try to pick up money that is two feet in front of them. They don't use microphones when they should (and use microphones when they shouldn't). Also typing during a wave a midst robots is pretty stupid. Not meeting the required classes like having at least a Scout, Engineer, an anti medic class (spy, demo or sniper), Soldier, Heavy and maybe a Medic. But seriously, not mentioning where money is for the Scout should be enough reason to mention where it is.

Which is why I'm piecing together a comprehensive MVM Guide for Scouts. It's so strange how easy this class can be when no one wants to be one.

Not really a true pet peeve, but I just feel bad when Medics follow me around. I suck, I'm gonna die whether you're there or not. Please, PLEASE go help someone with skills who'll actually be helpful in the game. I'm just here to set things on fire and immediately get shot. That's all I can do. That's it.

Honestly, my only real serious pet peeve in the game is people who just absolutely cannot handle someone playing an unorthodox loadout on pub servers. If I'm bouncing around using a dumb weapon and still near the top of the scoreboard, there's no reason to start screaming at me to change classes. A good player using a silly weapon can be infinitely more useful than an unskilled player with a Phlog.

My personal TF2 pet peeves have already been said, but here's one I personally have that some may or may not have: fluctuating item prices. For those of you who may not know what I'm talking about, it goes something like this: You trade almost half of your inventory for a really valuable item, whether it would be a cosmetic or a strange weapon. You finally sacrifice enough of your favorite weapons and items, but in the end, you've obtained a very good item, for the day at least. You go to the same or a different trade server a few days later and hope to trade away your cosmetic only to realize that your once valuable item has turned into a piece of garbage. Goodbye weeks of earning and trading. :( This really infuriates me.

Another thing that peeves me that I think also applies to a lot of players is crap ton of crates, but NO KEYS!!!!!!!!

One last one that I have is the stupid "updates" made to the game itself. Whether it be skinned items or inspection animations, nothing really has changed. The only significant changes I've seen recently were from the End of the Line update: new weapons, a new and interesting game mode which is almost like payload with a twist, and a new TF2 animation that came with the update.

If anyone else relates to this, then brohoof to you.

I absolutely, absolutely agree here. The last few updates just being "buy a ticket to do these missions in exchange for crates you need to buy keys for" things has really kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. It feels like a money-grab and it isn't even really being given any cover to convince us otherwise. I would love for some new weapons that aren't simply reskins of previous ones. Stuff like the Fortified Compound or the Liberty Launcher are just kinda copouts.

After the Tough Break update, that sentence is no longer true.

I added "can be" to cover for those ridiculous situations where one dude with a Phlog can pin an entire team into their spawn. >_>

Nice, I play a lot of TF2.

- WM1 Pyros seem to always get the edge on me, I don't know why (though I am a spy main)

- Dumb medics who don't heal

- Good scouts who are impossible to kill

- Engineers in general

- Sticky Spammers

- Soldiers who kill themselves in the process of killing me

- Bad spies

- Bodyshotting snipers

- Phlogistinator, that weapon is completely retarded and takes no skill

Oh! Another one I thought of. When you have a perfect headshot lined up on someone as a sniper and an invisible spy runs right into your shot. Annoying for both the sniper and the spy!

Mine actually always relate to specific items mostly.

1. BLACK BOX SOLDIERS. Why can't they seem to fix that OP shit? Why Valve? Why?

2. Phlog Pyros are nearly as bad as a Black Box, but at least you have a time where it's easy to die, and no airblast. INSTEAD OF A WEAPON THAT CAN BASICALLY MAKE YOU AN UNSTOPPABLE SHITHEAD. But true the Phlog can pin down whole teams.

3. Vaccinator Medics are just annoying.

4. Regular Scattergun is so frequently used just because it's extremely OP. It's cone is too freaking narrow. It can shoot tons more accurately than any other scout primary. Even the Shortstop.

5. Engineer as a general class.

6. Prices. Way too high.

7. People that complain about bodyshots. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OCCASIONALLY MISSING THE MARK NOOBS. GET A LIFE.

8. The damn Blutsager.

9. Every single Heavy Primary, particularly Natascha.

Spies . . . .

What you need more? All right, call me what you will but I prefer an honest fight. I'm even okay with Pyros and Snipers. Pyros I can see coming a mile away and Snipers I feel deserve to kill me, being long range specialists to my more raw firepower/melee approach.

Spies though are sneaky, cocky bastards who rely on subterfuge and lies to score a kill. (The character and some, I stress, not saying everyone who plays Spy are evil and lack honor.)

Other more minor things include:

-Loading times (probably my hardware)

-Joining a game far past the point of defeat being a far gone conclusion. Or Hell even victory, either way I didn't get to do anything!

-The Holiday events that last waaaaay longer than they do in reality. Yeah they are fun, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I feel like Kang and Kodos in this: (Trigger warning, blood and vio- what am I saying? It's a TF2 thread!)

The game after The End of the Line update. When it really started to show Valve doesn't care anymore. Also, bullshitting on a map release. No new weapons, rehashed updates, stupid "contracts" which I am now certain will be a coming thing every so often at this point. New modes that are garbage, and interesting ones still in "beta". The "Team" in Team Fortress 2 is anything but these days, the game is overriden with those young CoD players that constantly micspam and curse at you when you get a good kill.

Shame, the game was amazing when I started playing.

I haven't played in a few or so months, and I don't plan on getting back into it ever again.

Matchmaking can't even save the game at this point, it's doomed.

First of all, that's how Spy's class is supposed to play. Sneaky, cunning, and getting you when you least expect it.

Problem with that is, these days, everyone is spy checking, and there are few players who I've seen actually play spy decently enough. Can't go 10 seconds as Spy without someone shooting in my direction or flaming me down as a W-M1 Pyro.

Still is, and I played it before it first back in the orange box. Change is good.

Well then, can't really say for certain whether it's still any good or not, especially since you are more or less determined to try and not have fun with it.

Yeah, more people playing and enough interest to make a mini-movie, if that counts as "doomed" then the apocalypse has already happened.
