Would brony funding for a superbowl commercial slot work?

I heard that a Super Bowl commercial runs at 5 mil. A pop.

Do you think Bronies crowdfunding and giving proceeds to Hasbro would secure our favorite prismacolor ponies in the commercial running for the next superbowl?

(If Pokemon can claim a spot, why the hay not MLP?)

Nope. If there's going to be a SB commercial for FIM, have Hasbro pony up the cash to create their own commercial. They have the budget and resources to film it while bronydom in general doesn't.

All the commercials have been filmed and edited by now. Plus they're a commercial entity - as touching and artistic as super bowl ads can be, there has to be some benefit for Hasbro.

And that's 5 million for the spot. That doesn't factor in the cost to pay for the spot involved, plus salary for the crew and the damn dirty actors.

I'm aware of that. Which is exactly why I sait the NEXT super bowl, in the op. Thanks for reading.

If Bronies can raise millions for other bronies (coughKeyframecough), then I see no reason why they couldn't meet such a goal of however much for the parent company of ponied

Sorry. I'll admit to not reading the post carefully, because I don't see the purpose for millions to be spent on a brony themed Superbowl commercial. What would it's purpose be, other than millions from the fandom wasted and minor entertainment?

Last year, almost 40 million watched it outside the US. ...not huge but that's still a large number.

We already had ponies be in a spot as mentioned above, which I am fine with that. :3 A full-blown Brony ad would serve little purpose and most likely would go far beyond the resources that we would have.

I never said nor suggested a Brony themed ad. It would be purely pony, no Brony pandering. It would only be FUNDED by bronies. (If someone wanted to try and pull it off, and actully forward the funds to Hasbro)

again, it wouldn't be aimed at Bronies, merely funded by them. The commercial could be strictly non pandering ponies, seeing as how Hasbro would be promoting their product. And the fandom of Bronies is not their product to promote

If Hasbro thought it was in their best interests, they would pony up (har dee har) the money themselves and make a commercial.

Also, basically they'd be accepting 5 million dollars as a gift, which they would have to pay taxes on, in order to create a product commercial for the fans that gave them five million dollars.

Why should bronies pay for hasbros ads?

Plus this. Their commercials already come from revenue purchased by us anyway. From 5 million dollars in merchandise sales.

I'd rather them put 5 million dollars into the show or upcoming movie, or even advertising from the upcoming movie...not paid from us though.

well, they essentially already buy into Hasbro's 30 minute long ads by buying the product. So why not back the ad itself?

And when they buy the product then they'll get the product. When they give someone money they get nothing. See the difference?

It would violate the Ad Rules in place and thus would not get approved. The cost is not the only barrier to entry. Also, you realize that the ads do not air on international markets, right? Even Canada will simulcast with ads focused on their interests not ours. That has been a common complaint for years.

Also, I'd rather contribute to a cause that directly helps people. I would not financially support this.

Do you mean an ad for the show or an ad for "bronies". Because I think advertising bronies themselves would kind of harm the community more than help it. It would give the impression that bronies are so needy of attention they needed to buy a superbowl commercial.

Actually, not that many bronies buy the product. So I fail to see your point.

Correct. The majority of sales still come from the target audience in the toy department. Bronies dominate specific product lines, but no where close to a majority. The only product lines that bronies really dominate themselves is products intended for bronies.

I can't see something like this doing anything other than portraying bronies as over-obsessive nutcases with too much time and money on their hands

why spend millions to advertise someone else's product line? what good would that do? if we pulled millions of dollars together we could find a better and more charitable use for it

And why exactly are we doing this to pay for a 30 second add when you could spend that money helping out other people or even the community

This would probably just backfire and piss off a lot of people.

I think it's better we keep a low profile. One of the most common complaints about bronies is that we shove ponies in everyone's faces. This would just add fuel to the fire.
