spoiler Could season 6 make or break FiM? Radical changes are happening.

Season 6 introduces a baby alicorn( No I love the idea, I don't hate it like many people do, Twilight should be an aunt, making things interesting.)

Guardians of Harmony comic and toy line. Going to be entirely adventure based? Are they doing a separate retco? Or does it take place after season 5?

The future of Equestria Girls? I only care for the story of Sunset Shimmer, the human versions of the ponies are fine, but EQG is Shimmer's story. With EQG4 can they bring the sirens back? I am tired of each entry introducing new villains. And I know EQG4  have a new villain or new problem, those movies are entirely adventure based. I am even hearing about EQG5 and 6. I really hope nothing gets milked enough more than it has been.

The future of the show in general? I mean, they just introduced Flurry Heart, who is essentially a main pony now. Why introduce some character like that if you didn't have contingency plans for a sequel after the show ends?

Hard to say if Flurry Heart will be a main character for now since the most I could get from the season six animatic is her being central to the upcoming season's first two episodes. Sure, she's there but what role she'll be playing for season six other than being a new character is yet to be determined until we see enough of her to come up with an answer.

The Guardians of Harmony toy line looks to be limited to the comics and may not likely have any impact on the show for the time being.

As for Equestria Girls, I'm looking to keep that separate from the main series. If it doesn't do well, there is still Friendship is Magic to keep Hasbro's money flowing in. Still, getting the characters out of CHS for the upcoming film is something that I want to see the staff handle. As for the villains, they probably have to give the sirens a good reason to show up again if they decide to throw them into the film.

So, it's not really enough for me to say at the moment if everything coming this year will make or break the show, at least for me. Just wait and see, I guess...

Why not a classic revenge plot? The Sirens are still trapped in that world, you'd figure they aspire to keep persisting.

Yeah but their main source of magic is gone. It's going to be a tough act to follow if they don't have the means to fight back without making their new source of power a contrived one. The show staff could bring them back but it has to be more than just "bring them back because people wanted them to show up."

Yeah but they're popular for movie villains. Sunset Shimmer is more known for being a heroin instead of a villain. Cinch wasn't a good villain and Midnight Sparkle isn't coming back, why not do something interesting with the Sirens?

They may just do it like they did Cadence/Luna (and actually every other 'main' character introduced in Episode 1/2 of each season) - Only appear briefly in random episodes or finales.

Eh, changes aren't that radical. We knew Cadence and Shining would have a kid since Season 2. EQG is mostly unrelated to the show so meeeehh

same with toy line

To each their own

Going to be honest, I think that gloriosa character is probably going to end up being the Antagonist of Legend of everfree IMO. I seriously doubt we'll see the sirens again. MLP so  far has a very hard "never reuse villains" track record for the show and movies.

I think they prefer to leave reusing characters to the comics.

As for "make or break" the show.... hah, we're in season six and movie 4! "Make or break" isn't a thing anymore, we're just at the "when it ends" stage, because both have been very successful, yeah?

That's not to say that this year ISN'T important. The success of this season and EQG will have a massive impact on the future, in that Hasbro could easily end FIM at the movie, and With the EQG series dropping like an anchor, if it doesn't pick up and pick up FAST, its in for some trouble, yeah?

If EQG manages to turn things around and start growing again, I could see hasbro making EQG a Recurring franchise for the MLP franchise, with them making new Pony girl dolls each generation in the same way they make new MLP's each gen.

But if EQG DOESN'T turn around and start growing, it will most likely end up permanently shelved after this current EQG ends as a small flash in the pan that was reliant on FIM and will not be revived in future generations.
