So, I ship AppleDash and RainbowPie. But which ship is better? Or maybe is it Flutterdash

AppleDash is such a classic duo. They are both so very competitive against each other and I honestly find that kinda cute. :3 Dashy just doesn't fit with the others in the mane 6 to me.

To be honest, I moved away from lesbian shipping of the mane six a LONG time ago.

I no longer see the appeal really.

 

I used to not feel that way, but currently I really ship soarin and dash hard, and like things like sparity.

Pinkie I just don't ship very hard at the moment, even with Cheese sandwhich being her male twin more or less; I just don't find him that appealing. And while I can still see AJ hooking up with RD, the fact that I ship RD with soarin makes me no longer cling to that ship.

From the three? Flutterdash or Pinkiedash. I am not a fan of Appledash because I don't like this "they have the similar character so they must be in a relationship." I am more the fan of relationships where both characters have contrasts. Formerly, I was a big Flutterdash Fan, but now, I ship Fluttershy with Twily (also because both are my fave ponies) and RD mostly with Pinkie, but I also like Flutterdash artworks.

Well RainbowPie is a half dead ship that was once mighty and active but now gets less fic than freaking stuff like Twijack and Raridash and barely more art than them, and AppleDash is a totally boring ship with next to no chemistry or even really much interaction post S1 that is only super popular because it happened to get popular first. 

 

 

No seriously, how the hell is it that AppleDash is able to even hold a candle to ships like Rarijack and FlutterDash that have MUCH MUCH more fleshed out dynamics between the characters and probably 5 times as much screen time for the duo. Not only that but there's actually some variety to their interactions, basically the only 2 episodes that are majorly focused on Rainbow and Applejack do the exact same thing "LOOK AT US BE COMPETITIVE AND HARD HEADED". Even TwiDash though it took a while for there to be much there, has a hell of a lot more going for it than AppleDash now.

 

AppleDashers also claim that "o the characters are so similar!" but aside from being competitive and athletic there's really not much similiarties I can see. I could pick up more similiarties between both Applejack and Rarity and Rainbow Dash and Rarity actually, 2 ships generally considered to be purely "Opposites attract". Ultimately AppleDash has little going for it in terms of ether similarities OR Contrast. 

 

But between those two Id go with PinkieDash, there's just a lot more to work with there and the dynamic is more inheirently entertaining. AppleDash is really only good for adventure stories. It's one of the least interesting inter-character dynamics within the Mane 6.

 

 

That said Rarijack is the best ship forever.

I don't base my ships on how popular they are personally. I even enjoy mixing some crack ships in there just for the heck of it. 

 

Yes, Rarijack has some phenomenal chemistry, I love it to death, but some of the cutest ship fics I've ever come across on Fimfiction have been from AppleDash. The really good ones work on their vulnerable sides, not so much their stubborn competitive sides. At least those are the fics I've really enjoyed about them.

 

I also don't really subscribe to the idea that you have to pick one or the other. 

 

PinkieDash has some pretty cute fics as well, but yeah, that one really has simmered down quite a bit. Pinks is kind of a hard one to ship in general for some reason, at least in a purely romantic style fic and not the...you know...other kind of fic

It's because why would I ship a character I care about with a minor character I feel next to nothing for. Soarin to me is barely a character hence I have no desire to ship him with Rainbow Dash.

And I just kind the age difference in Sparity to make it kind of a non-starter.

 I feel that way about Flutterdash. I have yet to run into a fic that could really sell me on that pairing, nor have I really seen the chemistry in the show that people use to ship them. FlutterHuger is just so much better, I could write a term paper on how good that ship is just on that one episode Tree hugger showed up in.
