Well, her hair is red and yellow, bacon can be red and yellow so her hair looks like bacon. You can't argue with that logic.

 

And I would argue that Celestia's cutie mark isn't on her butt, it's more on her thighs.

 

Also is "Stumpy MacStump" a nice nickname for someone who has lost a leg? It's based on a physical attribute so that makes it okay, right?

I've never heard this nickname for Sunset before, but it kinda makes sense.

 

Really, the name sounds more endearing than anything else. I frequently joke about wanting to eat my cats -- obviously I'm not going to kill and devour my pets. The point of calling Sunset Shimmer "Bacon Mane" or whatever is to playfully draw attention to her appearance. It doesn't directly and specifically promote the consumption of meat. The nickname is simply silliness at work.

I had never heard of this before. And I don't think it's cute or insulting. I think it's stupid. Honestly, kinda like calling Celestia Trollestia.

I like "Big Sexy" for Celestia. I also see nothing wrong with using "Bacon Mane/Hair" as a term of endearment for Sunset. My personal favorite?

Nicknames can be both terms of endearment (thus cute) or terms of vilification (thus insulting). It's all in the person's intent. It seems like you're going to be offended in either case, which I would say makes it your problem, not anyone else's.

Bacon itself is pretty good. Although I never really heard of her being associated with bacon prior to the fandom grabbing hold of it, it does kind of look like it (lol). While I personally do not use any food related subjects when referring to MLP characters (except Derpy with muffins), I think it could possibly just be a cute nickname developed for Sunset Shimmer. Or an insult, if you remember back to the first Equestria Girls movie she was a villain so maybe? I don't know but Sunset is still totally my favorite character ^^ (even though my profile pic is currently Thunderlane's cutie mark, just to match with my name).
