Alternative nationalities for the Mane 6

Yeah, I've been watching a lot of multi-languages in my life and it just hit me that I would love to hear everyone's opinion on: If the Mane 6 each would come from different countries in the world, what country/language would suit them best?

 

I'd say French for Rarity because of her love for fashion and I somewhat see France as a fashionable and quite fancy country. Japanese for Pinkie Pie because of her hyper and happy personality and pitched voice, I'm thinking of the slightly more outstanding Japanese people that are loud and colorful with usually sparkly and rebelling personalities. Southern American for AJ, since it's kind of obvious that she would still stick with that. Perhaps some Nordic language like Swedish or Norwegian for Fluttershy because I for one know how shy and pulled back most of the people are from there... No clue for the others. What do you think?

I would imagine Twilight as being from the United Kingdom, since I tend to think of the British as being well-educated.  And I think that Rainbow Dash could be an Australian, just because I can totally picture her with an Australian accent.  The ones listed above seem to be about right.

Applejack - American(Southern)

Rainbow Dash - American(Western) or Hispanic

Rarity - European

Pinkie Pie - American(Northern) or Japanese

Fluttershy - The hardest one I can think of. For now I'll just stick with European too, or maybe Japanese

FLUTTERSHY - DUTCH ( Yeeee, I changed it up a bit. xD Dutch is better. )

RAINBOW DASH - DANISH

Twilight Sparkle with a British Accent, perhaps from London. And then AJ as Southern American, like she is. <33333

I always saw Twilight as being kind of Scandinavian. Like she starts out being a bit asocial and reserved, but as she warms up you find that she's (we're) actually really lovely

I agree with yours but rarity. I think since Italy is the fashion capital of the world..i would say she would be Italian..northern italy to be more exact

I'm just pulling this out of nowhere but here's what I feel they would be if from different countries.

Twilight Sparkle: India

Rarity: Russia

Pinkie Pie: Jamaica

Applejack: Mexico

Rainbow Dash: Japan

Fluttershy: Egypt

 

and Spike: France

In general, I consider all ponies in MLPFIM to be equivalent to be of ethnic European descent (like how zebras are ethnic Africans, horses are ethnic Arabs, and Yaks are roughly Central Asians).

 

I could have sworn canon Rarity was described as being something like Half-American and half-British though now I'm wondering if that statement was ever actually made. But in any case, I think it suits Rarity to have British heritage though French could work too.

Twilight I could most easily see as German.

Pinkie Pie I could see as being Spanish or, I suppose, any South European countries may be suitable.

Applejack obviously Southern USA.

Don't know for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy but also generally European.

 

This more or less describes my interpretation of MLPFIM if "translated" onto Earth:

-Equestria = Blue

-Crystal Empire = Magenta

-Griffonstone = Yellow

-Saddle Arabia = Brown

-Changelings = Green

-Yakyakistan = Dark Red (not sure why people say Yaks are equivalent to Vikings considering that Yaks live in roughly central Asia in reality and -stan suffix is originally Persian and is used by numerous Central Asian countries)

-Buffalo Tribes = Dark Brown in North America

-Zebras = Dark Brown in Africa

-Dragons = Red

I think you got that from the explanation for her accent. Rarity speaks with a Transatlantic accent, which is a sort of British/American fusion.

 

As for my headcannons, I guess I mostly go off of what I see in fanart. If I see a cute human pony of a certain nationality, I tend to fold that into my overall headcannon of what that pony might look like in human form. If I had to give a general summary of my headcannons...

 

Twilight - African, Indian

Rarity - European, Indian

Fluttershy - Scandinavian

Pinkie Pie - Hispanic, Asian

Rainbow Dash - Hispanic

Applejack - European

 

Of course that's just vague ethnic background. I guess I'm not super interested in pinning them to a region just because to an extent, I'd rather not take them out of their own world. They have a really cool and beautiful world, and I think they're better off in it than in ours

They can be somewhat reserved and polite, that is true. Most are raised to act that way, there are a lot of rules to follow in Japanese society. However, as I also mentioned in my post, I'm referring to the loud and slightly rebellious Japanese people(usually teen-agers) that has a very loud and outstanding way of expressing themselves. They may have watched too much anime or are just simply inspired by colors, randomness and cuteness, but they are the kind of people I would say refer to Pinkie a whole lot. Bubbly, random, loud, outstanding and colorful. If you have ever seen Japanese entertainment shows or the Harajuku fashion, you'll get what I mean.
