I'm pretty sure she's just messing around. She's been at it all day, honestly. x3 Saying things like Rarity married 5 princes and gets 5 divorces, Derpy wanting to marry Fluttershy's 2 cats,And Big Mac being into Stallions, ETC.

@@Mand'alor Dash, I could address each of your points, but I would not want to push this thread off topic. I would be more than happy to provide information and resources to you or anyone else via PM if anyone here would like to learn more about the subject, which would assist all of you in discussing this topic I'm sure. You have made quite clear here that you do not know anything about this topic, which I hope you don't mistake for an insult. I have spent quite a lot of time learning about the LGBT+ community, so I have an especially firm understanding of the subject, and I wouldn't expect those who haven't taken that time to know anything about it in the same way that I wouldn't expect someone who's never taken a biology class to know the stages of mitosis.

 

I reiterate, if anyone would like to learn more on this topic my PM box is wide open. I am not the perfect person to ask by any means, being cisgender myself I can only learn so much, but I love sharing my knowledge and spreading kindness and understanding, and if it means that we can improve the way we discuss topics related to transgender issues on this forum, then I think that would be just wonderful :)

You're right, I forgot to mention the janitor. But seriously, in my opinion, the show's quality went downhill after she left, especially with Equestria Girls and Twilicorn in the mix. So, yes, she wasn't the only one who made that show, but without her, it was no longer great.

 

Same thing after Craig stepped down from PPG. The episodes became stale and unbearable.

You're right about derailing the thread, however. So consider this my final word on the subject. The most neutral way I can say it is that there is a boatload of conflicting information floating around about this subject. I have looked into both camps, and decided in favor of the one that wasn't written by former Disney Channel interns. All kidding aside, look into sources that go against your confirmation bias if you want to get a complete picture.

 

And to tie this back to MLP:

 

 

 

And to tie it back to MLP, we've seen loads of characters over the past 5 seasons. At this point, even given a low estimate for percentage of trans people the odds that we haven't run across a trans character yet are actually quite slim.

 

Have we? The animators are starting to get lazy with their art assets, so there could be only around 100+ characters in the show. If that isn't the case, then you might have something. Determining which one, though, is like picking a novelty tan-colored needle out of a 2D haystack.

This reeks of the whole J.K Rowling announcing years after the conclusion of the books that Dumbledore was gay the whole time, despite the fact that it was totally unnecessary, irrelevant to the story and contributed nothing whatsoever to the narrative.  In fact it came across as nothing more than a cheap shot to score a few easy popularity points with the PC brigade.

Well, to be fair, it does fit with him hanging around Grindelwald and buying into his ideology, when you realize he had a (I'm thinking one-sided and unknown) crush on ol' Grindy.

She says this simply to get some attention. This is a very controversial topic and something that make people talk about her again, because lately, she dosen't have any work, because she blew that whole deal with the medusa movie.

 

I think this is nothing and just attention seeking.

It shouldn't be controversial. Just like Dumbledore being gay shouldn't have been controversial and people flipped their ever loving shit about that as well. Same comments about trolling and how she shouldn't have an opinion anymore.

But it sadly is. People still open their mouths in disgust, when it comes to transgenders. I am not okay with it, but i don't pretend it dosen't exist.

 

And i am not saying that she shouldn't have an opinion. I just say that i find her tweets rather questionable, considering in what position she is right now.

I was commenting on Hypno's statement regarding controversy as well as reflecting that some of the comments I read in this thread sounding identical to the Dumbledore 'calamity', not the veracity of the tweets. 

 

I mean, honestly if this was something people wanted to confirm they just have to ask her during the Meet and Greet in April.

It would also work perfectly well if he were straight.  My point is that if this actually mattered to her then it would have been mentioned in the books, the fact that she left is so long, coupled with the fact that there is nothing solid to support it in the narrative tells me that it was probably never her intention to begin with, and she chucked it it retrospectively in a cynical points scoring move.

 

What I really wanted to get across though, is that unless a characters gender, race, religion, sexual alignment (of any other of a thousand other characteristics) has to be specified for the purpose of the narrative, then don't do it.  If it has no bearing at all on the story then it becomes nothing more than extraneous detail, just leave it out completely, let the reader/viewer interpret these things for themselves in the way that makes most sense to them rather than resorting to cheap tokenism just to pander to whatever minority you're trying to cosy up to.
