Would you be open to a male-centric spinoff?

You never know how much you're going to like or hate G5 until it happens, so would you want a FIM-spinoff that's directed more at male viewers to tide you over? Something that could easily break the brony stereotype by having a cast of mostly male ponies doing "male things?"

I wouldn't mind as long as the characters are good.

They're still cartoon ponies though, so I don't think other people would see the show much differently from FIM. Maybe they'd think it's for boys, but not adults.

That could be cool. I don't see it ever happening, but I would be al for it. Also, Grepper makes a good point. It would still be My Little Pony. The gender of the characters wouldn't make people view it differently. In fact, I could imagine some really conservative homophobic folks getting angry about them trying to "feminize our boys". lol

The notion that "My Little Pony" is always going to be a girl show is true. The only way that a Fim spin-off can really work is that Hasbro was to completely develop a brand new show, with a new title and with a chance of minuscule or zero references to Fim. Basically Hasbro has to compete with its own product, Transformers. In that, it may cannibalize their remaining shares of toys. That may not sound like a viable proposition in the future as releasing and marketing a new toy line takes massive amounts of money.

I for one would like a male focused show too, but to Hasbro it may seem either a hit or miss.

I would be a hypocrite if I supported it.

I, like many people, got pissed off at the new Ghostbusters reboot because the genderflip bullshit flew in the face of the established characters. This great Ghostbusters movie from the 1980s was being rewritten by politically correct hacks who wanted to appeal to an "underrepresented" audience.

So why, then, should it be okay to turn a traditionally all-female cast into an all-male cast just to appeal more to the men who felt "underrepresented" in the My Little Pony universe? I really like FiM, and I love the cast. Just like how I loved the cast of the original Ghostbusters. If you have something great going on, I couldn't care less who it "represents." Just give me great characters, gender be damned. And as of 2016, those great pony characters are all female.

The new Ghostbusters is a reboot that just straight up replaces all the male characters we've come to know and love with females. That's not what I'm proposing. I'm talking about a spin-off series that happens on the side of FIM, which focuses more on male characters that are already established.

I don't want to see the Mane Six turned into stallions, and I'm sure no one else would either.

Only if they added new characters with personalities as good as the mane six.

All these "Would you watch a show with stallions?" threads keep missing the point: It's about the characters. We're not tumblrites, we don't give a flying feather about a character's gender, we like this show because it's well-made and has good characters.

Speak for yourself. XD

Though personally I don't think we even need a spin off for this, Maybe one or 2 good episodes exploring it would be enough.

Maybe even an episode where the stallions have to deal with a friendship problem XD

That goes without saying. Every show needs well-written characters, and FIM has plenty of good stallions to make something like this work. Not asking for shitty ones that are made just to have more males.

From what I've heard, I'm going to despise G5...so, I feel as if G4 should be the last, but it should go on forever. c: Unless they want to make it so G5 revolves around the same ponies. Judging from past generations changing, it seems that ponies sometimes become totally different and keep the same names...

For all we know, Twilight Sparkle could be green with a curly pink mane in the future.

Nevermind that, this is about a male spin-off. Uh, well, I'm not sure I'm in favor of any spin-offs. I just don't like the idea of a spin-off. Equestria girls didn't really feel like one since the main characters were still there...mostly the original Twilight. She just crossed into another world, blah blah blah. Anyhow, enough talkin' smack. I'm just gonna back up now. c:

No, not at all really. There's plenty of shows with great male characters taking centre stage, let's keep Friendship is Magic focused on the awesome female characters we've come to know and love. Who wants to see Prince Blueblood ruling?

Everything you hear about G5 is a myth. I wish people would calm down about the show ending soon. Hasbro is making those dollars off ponies and it's they're most popular IP. A male centric spin off would be fine, Sunburst would need to be the mane stallion, because there aren't any other strong male characters in MLP.

You know, in my earlier dealings with the fandom, it at least seemed as though Bronies were drawn to FIM for its increasingly complex and refreshingly female-centric cast; rather than, you know, in spite of it.  Now, I know better.  Bronies apparently expect FIM or MLP to depart from its original focus and start tossing in stallions left and right; presumably, at least in some cases, so that they will have males to whom they can better relate.  Because a number of Bronies are apparently incapable of relating to the female ponies and dissatisfied with what was both the original draw of the series and precisely what made it different and interesting.

To more precisely answer the topic question: No.  No, I would not be open to it.  There are a grand total of ZERO stallions in FIM that I genuinely like.  At best, there are a few that I can tolerate / don't straight-up dislike.  I do, however, genuinely like the current female cast, and my primary motivation for initially getting into and continuing to follow the series has always been a mare named Rainbow Dash.

While my personal bias can't help but agree, I hate to pit any of the Mane Six against each other, as they're all the heart-and-soul of FIM.  I also grew to like Twi more than I originally did during season four, and I think she deserved better than she got in season five.

I don't hate Twilight, she's on of my favorites, I don't hate any of the Mane 6. I just think Twilight's been getting too much of the glory lately. That's why I liked Rainbow Rocks, Twilight took a backseat and Sunset Shimmer had to shine.

To be honest, it just wouldn't be right. Such a move would be tough for the MLP franchise, and how can we be sure that such a show would not end up pandering to the stereotypes represented by characters like Bulk Biceps, Snips and Snails, and Hayseed Turniptruck?

There really isn't a need for MLP to do this. I don't like it when females want to take over a male space; after all most traditionally male spaces acknowledge females to some degree already. I wouldn't have this happen the other way.

MLP managed to become popular across demographics with a female-dominant cast. All I'd like to see them do is develop their male characters a little better and stop resorting to stereotypes with them so the show doesn't send the wrong messages to its audience about gender relations. Over the past three or so seasons, thankfully, it looks like they've been achieving that. That's really all that needs to be asked.

Definately if it still had good female characters as well (and not teh reverse of the how the male characters are treated in My little Pony). Maybe the main characters could be griffins, they should be male appeling, with some zebras, ponies, horses and maybe some older dragon or new magical creatures as supporting characters. Maybe more adventure centric plots (girls like those too but excecutives belive only boys do) .

The whole "My Little Pony" trademark is such a hinderance for the brand I feel. If it was something like "The Magical Ponyworld of Equestria" that would still be girly and kiddie friendly but it would be easier to expand to spinoffs. Like "The Magical Griffin Kingdom" or something could be a spin-off name.

For every few dozen male oriented cartoons, there is one female-centric show. Why spoil the formula that made MLP:FIM such a huge success? Besides, the brony fandom is nowhere near the size of the children (mostly little girls) watching. I doubt if a male centric-version would get the required ratings from the few that seem to want it.

I think having some male center eps like on Armor and Big Mac and also Blueblood would be good for the show and lessons they teach.  It also makes a good balance if anything got the show if you ask me.   Hell a flash back ep of Armor and Twilight would be a good add on and history build up!

No. I can't say that I would be interested in seeing something like that happen.

More importantly, why would it even need to be a thing in the first place?

I don't really think it is needed at all.
